The first game is always important and Panathinaikos started its European campaign with a precious victory over Norway champions Rosenborg. The Greek champions prevailed 2-1 with Equi Gonzalez a commanding presence. The Argentinian super star scored at the 43rd minute with a wonderful curling shot and doubled his tally at the 79th minute with a marvellous effort and a banana shot. The Norvegians, hitted the post twice through Strand and Berg, scored at the last minute with a long range effort by F. Jonsen.
