View Full Version : Germans coming back?
First a 4-1 thrashing of Spain and now a 2-0 victory over Greece. Is German football finally finding its way back to the top?
Personally, I don't like Germany, but you gotta admit Voeller is doing a great job...

SEKA,
I have to admit Germany aren't as bad as people think. Especially at home, but they didn't impress me.
The Greek players were scared in the beggining, they siked themslves out. They played way to defensivly and had 2 costly mistaked the Germany capitilized on:
1) Off a throw in Goumas cleared the ball way to low and a German just kicked the ball in,easy goal...
2) Scholl tool a shot and Eleftheropoulos was the about to make a save, but then Ouzounidis jumped and deflected it in the goal...
2 MISTAKES! Take those 2 away, it's 0-0.
Put Dabizas in the defense, things would have been differen't. Put Machlas up front and we actually could have done something. Once Houtos came in (An actual CF) Greece started applying pressure.
Tsartas hit the post.
Houtos missed a one on one chance.
Lymberopoulos missed 2 great chances.
Georgiadis barely missed wide.
The game coukd have gone 2-0 the other way just as easy.
It was the mid set of the Greeks in the beggining that we lossed. Not the Germans good play...
I can also say that for Slovenia gainst Faroes, but it won't help...
You lost. Period. Germany took advantage of your mistakes and that's enough. You weren't able to do so. (BTW, they also hit a post.)
I only said Germany are getting back. Once they regain ther self-confidence, they'll be old Germany again. I don't like this, because I don't like their type of game, but that's the fact, at least I see it as such.

I'll agree with u on that. We lost, period.
But it's still my opinion that Germany is NOWHERE near the Germany of old.
They lack young talent,and speed.
I can agree on that. If WC was today, I wouldn't bet a single dollar on Germany. But they have 2 years to go... and I think (as the topic says) that they're slowly coming bck and could be the contenders for the WC02...
My picks TODAY are
1.Argentina http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/smile.gif 2.France 3.Brazil http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/mad.gif

Well, he is the best - cause he ain't German and therefore has some IDEA in the game. That's what I was talking about, when I said I don't like German play.

Seka are you for real bro?
German's not having any idea? Just because they're hurtin right now doesn't mean they have no idea. They have one of the best histories in the game and have proven themselves over and over again. They might not look good right now, but let's not exaggerate here.

well i dont know Germany up until now has been terrible Euro was a diaster i dont like Germany at all but they did surprise me with the 4-1 win over spain and ya i think if you give them time then they can get back to a good team in 2002 and who knows what will happen in 2006 they will be hosting so that has to be a goal for them but what is kinda of wierd is how Beckenbaur keeps putting down the tean i mean ya they are not at there best but he has to keep a positive atittude i can guarentee alot of the players look up to him and what he is doing is uncalled for and it wont help anything
Gambine, the only idea Germans have is the idea of robot. They're importing players wih ideas in their own league. I am very much aware of their WC and Euro history, but that changes nothing. Italy also has great WC history and it's also clear they don't have a history of attacking game. What I mean is that every team has its own style and German style is definitely short of ideas. They used to crack their opponents in other aspects of the game, such as fitness, persistance, stability. That's why they're lost now, cause they are old (persistance) and everybody in today's game is 100% fit to work hard on the field throughout the game (fitness).
Besides, de gustibus non disputandum est.
