Well it is his responsability, Lavolpe is the coach, if he wants to call him or not he has to obbey. Even the greatest players do that, I don't see why with Blanco should be different.

Let me understand this....Blanco doesn't want to play with the mexican NT because the coach didn't wanted to take him to Athens, right? First of all, the coach is the coach, he takes whoever he likes and that's his decision, and second Blanco is hurting the team refusing to play and you guys are still defending him?? I don't understand....

I personally don't like Blanco! He has a bad temper, and he doesn't know how to behave himself. That pretty much embarasses the entire team when he throws his tantrums. I guess he is a good playpaker, and somewhat good of a stiker, but I think Mexico can dig up another guy that will contribute just as much.

Umm, I don't think anyone has to do anything and it seems that Blanco is exercising his right.

I like his skills; I believe he has talent. Unfortunately his antics on the field leave much to be desired for and is probably the main reason many people do not like him.

National teams determine whether a contest is important or not. Based on their criterion, they may either send season players or younger players. Maybe Blanco felt that the olympics were as good a reason to send season players as any, maybe moreso than to a match with Trinidad & Tobago - Who knows?

I agree, team players should question the coach. But based on recent issues with Lavolpe I can somewhat empathize with Blanco and many other players.

Blanco still has some game left in him. There are however plenty of Mexican players that are capable of stepping up to the plate - at least the desire is there, I mean who wouldn't want to represent their country. All they need is proper training and coaching.

Yeah in a way I agree with you but from what I heard is that he told the media he wanys to play two more games with veracruz and then go with the national team! See he builds up more momentum! But yeah he still has a few more yeahs to go before he can hang up his cleats! But what I heard is that Lavolpe wants to use the senior strikers and have a young defense! For the 2006 world cup squad!!! I really hope he keeps an eye out on all the players that are selected for the national team so that he makes the precise decision! Because once their there in Germany theirs no turning back!!!! I think Sanchez could do a better job than Lavolpe. He's a great coach, btw sorry for Pumas for losing after leading 2-0 against los Tuzos, and at home....seems like the win at Madrid went to their heads....

Maybe, just maybe . . . he felt he shouldn't have been asked, but rather told to play for the NT.

Maybe he felt they didn't really want him to play but were only him asking out of courtesy.

Why would they ask with an option? They didn't just ask him to play, but they gave him a choice.
