Lyon have signed former Arsenal star Sylvain Wiltord on a two-year contract, the French champions said on Tuesday. Wiltord, 30, left Arsenal in June after four years at Highbury, and has since been linked with a number of clubs.
"I was interested in coming here because I always loved to play for winning clubs," Wiltord said. "I hope we are going to go very far in the Champions League. I'm pretty sure that this club have the potential to clinch a fourth (domestic) title."
Wiltord was part of the French squad knocked out of the quarter-finals of Euro 2004 by eventual winners Greece in June. He has scored 22 goals in 65 appearances in France since making his international debut in a 2-0 victory over England in 1999.
The striker, who had been training with Stade Rennes over the last few weeks, could line up for Lyon's next Ligue 1 match at Rennes on 11 September. The striker turned down a move to West Brom on Saturday.
