Everton have agreed a £1.5million fee with Liverpool for defender Djimi Traore.
The French full-back will complete a medical and is set to be confirmed as manager David Moyes' latest signing on Saturday.
The deal is not expected to go through in time for the 24-year-old to make his debut in the bank holiday fixtures this weekend.
Everton face West Brom on Saturday before travelling to Old Trafford two days later - and transfers have to be registered to the Premier League by noon on Friday.
Moyes said: 'At the moment we're just waiting for clearance that everything's done and hopefully he'll have a medical later today,'' he told the official club website.
Traore was signed by former Liverpool boss Gerard Houllier in 1999 but never established himself as a regular at Anfield. He spent the 2002-3 season at Lens and only made 11 appearances last season.
Current Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez has sold Danny Murphy and Michael Owen since he has arrived this summer and allowed Markus Babbel to leave on a free transfer.
