Real Has To Pay Off Debts

The Spanish FA has demanded Real Madrid to pay off at least £35 million of their
record £165 million debts. Because of that club president Florentino Perez now
wants to sell Real's training ground "Ciudad deportiva" which is valued at £218
million to the city of Madrid.

This way the record EC winners' would immediately be cleared of all their debts.
A new training ground would cost the building contractor Perez "only" £25 million
which would mean that there would be even some money left to spend on new
players.

While Real Madrid supporters will of course anxiously await the deal with the
community to go through the rest of Europe's football fans should cross their
fingers that it falls through - otherwise the stranglehold Real Madrid had on
European football for the past three seasons might become even tighter.

Strangle-hold, what are you talking about. Just because they won the european cup last year doesn't mean that they had a strangle hold on Europe.

gb1520, you should tell this to the person at soccer-europe.com who wrote it.

I only copied it and posted it here, the name of the topic reveals what I meant to say. What do you think about it? Will Perez make it or not?

BTW, the article is talking in the past tense, to be accurate - about past 3 years.

Real won 2 out of 3 CL titles in that time. No other team was that successful for quite some time, right?

Thats true but i still don't think they have a strangle hold on europe.

You wanted to add sth about the debt or we're discussing Madrid (not) dominating the CL in the past years? http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

BTW, Picasso's "Guernica" is a powerful and astonishing painting, wanna discuss it http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/wink.gif?

What the hell did you just say.

I was merely wondering whether we'll be discussing Real's DEBT (check the name of the topic) or would you rather discuss other things ("strangle-hold", paintings, your sister http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/biggrin.gif )?

"Sick" Real Madrid in financial crisis, admits president

MADRID, Sept 4 (Reuters)(DS) - Real Madrid president Florentino
Perez admitted on Monday that the club was in a grave financial
crisis as he revealed the European champions were some $250
million in debt as of June 30.
"The situation is truly bad," Perez said in a news
conference to reveal the results of an audit of the club.
"We have a grave sickness and if we don't take steps now it
will end very badly."
Perez said the club was in urgent need of 60,000 million
pesetas ($324.1 million) and that the easiest way of acquiring
such a sum would be to convert the club into a limited company.
He appeared to rule out taking such a controversial step,
however, as he promised to fight to preserve Real's status as a
club owned by its members.
"It's not something that the members would consider and I
stood as a candidate for the elections to ensure it wouldn't
happen," he said.
He added that the sale of the club's training ground in the
north of the city could also ease the financial situation.
"I don't want to speak with bitterness but it is necessary
to take measures to get out of this crisis situation," Perez
said. "Survival day to day is a miracle.
"But I want to send a message of optimism. We'll go through
two difficult years until the club is restructured and in the
third year I hope we'll have stability."
Perez, who took over the club presidency on July 17 this
year, has since authorised a $60 million net spending spree on
players wich will presumably have added to the club's financial
problems.
The bulk of that money went on the $56 million signing of
Luis Figo from Barcelona, a decision Perez was at pains to
justify.
"It would give a message of little hope if we sold players
and I prefer to fix the house while we're living in it," he
said.
"Figo cost the same as the sales of (Nicolas) Anelka and
(Elvir) Baljic."
Perez also announced, as had been widely expected, that
Jorge Valdano would take over as the club's sporting director.
"He will bring to us not only his experience but also his
business ability.
"He will be in charge of all sporting matters and also be
the spokesman for the club."

Look at the 1st post - Perez wants to sell the training ground...

I can hardly imagine how is he gonna get rid of 300 MIO $ debt in 3 years. Without selling there's no way he can make it!

Apparantly, you're to stupid to understand "a joke for 14 year old"...

Read again, the switch may click; but then again, it hasn't clicked on the topic issue although you have it written on top, so I doubt it.
