Why ?
Maybe Macca just dont fit in the team Del Bosque imagined for the next season. He is a good player, but maybe he just dont fit...
And Del Bosque prefers Spanish players instead foriegners, i think they have to be 50% better then Spanish players to be in first 11...

He's not in the squad for Supercup. Makelele, Conceicao, Figo... tough competition.

I guess they will sell McManaman, he's worth a lot of money.

I know what you are saying Sergio, but don't hate del Bosque. he just feels mcmanaman doesn't fit in too well with the squad. so now we will get a bundle of money.

where do you all think it's most likely he goes? chelsea looked possible at first, but now now vialli doensn't want him. So?

Hierro insists Real are united

By Kevin Fylan
MADRID, Sept 2 (Reuters)(DS) - Real Madrid captain Fernando
Hierro denied rumours of a dressing-room revolt over the
treatment of Steve McManaman on Saturday.
Reports surfaced last week that a senior Real player had
told coach Vicente del Bosque the team were concerned that
McManaman had been frozen out and were worried about the sale of
Fernando Redondo to AC Milan.
Hierro, one of the three club captains along with Manuel
Sanchis and Raul, moved to scotch the reports on Saturday,
saying: "The relationship between the dressing-room and Vicente
del Bosque is perfect and cordial.
"He's a coach who has gained our respect with the work he's
done.
"We don't pay much heed to the stories. For months
everyone's been able to see the good atmosphere and then
suddenly from one day to the next we want to kick out the coach.
It's not normal."
One player has admitted, however, that the Mcmanaman
situation did lead him to speak to the coach.
Michel Salgado, whose future at Real Madrid has also been
the subject of much speculation, said he complained to del
Bosque about the treatment of his team mate.
"I spoke to him and told him I didn't like what was
happening to McManaman.
"On this matter I'm not in agreement with the coach but only
on this matter."
McManaman's situation was at least partly resolved on Friday
when he was named in Real's 25-man squad for the Champions
League but it remains to be seen if del Bosque will use a player
who has not had a minute of football over the pre-season.
McManaman himself, in an interview with As newspaper
published on Saturday, reiterated his determination to stay on
and fight for a place but admitted he was disappointed at being
told he could look for another club after a promising first
season at Real.
"I do feel a little disappointed," said the England
midfielder.
"I don't know what I've done not to be given a single minute
of football. Since winning the European Cup in Paris I haven't
done anything wrong. I haven't had the chance to.
"After all the complications in getting to Real Madrid all I
ask is for the chance to play.
"I'm a Real Madrid player. It cost me a lot to get here and
I'm not going.
"The only way I'd leave is if the president, the technical
director and the entire board came up to my house and shouted,
'Macca, you're useless and we want you to go.' That's the only
thing that would make me go."
McManaman is understood to have had a lucrative offer from
Middlesbrough but he appeared to rule out a move to another
English club.
"In English football, once you've been at Liverpool, you
can't go anywhere," he said.

I agree with the players and McManaman. He's also right about Liverpool http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/smile.gif http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/smile.gif
