As the 2004 Olympics are less than one week away the US, Britain and all those that are jealuous of Greece are trying to ruin Hellas' greatest hour. And now we have Turkish fighter jets flying over Greek airspace. Wonder who's idea that is!?(USA). Its a shame that perhaps the best Olympiad in all of history is already being ruined even before it started. Its a shame that American and British capitalists cant keep their filthy media mouths shut. With all this said, as this is how the world is today, Greece will host the best Olympiad ever and will instill into the people of the world the heart, passion and soul that embodies every Greek around the world, Greece's greatest hour
will be written in the history books forever.

Greece's greatest hour
will be written in the history books forever.

OK, the Olympiad will be the best if the Anglo-Americans :mad2: don't do something. But I think it's difficult to talk about ''Greece's greatest hour'' Greece has a history up of 6000 years we cannot talk about the greatest hour so easy.

Last month i came back from holiday in Greece, and the people there are very pessimistic about the whole thing, saying that the whole nation will be emaressed.

Good thing was that Karamanlis won the elections and gave more freedom to the ones in the olympic department witht the budget and all. Otherwise you were phucked.

xonic,
that is the way of the greeks. they leave it until the last minute but everything gets done and in spectacular fashion. now if you follow anything about politics , and if you can put two and two together, we have heard nothing but negative things about greece being ready for the olympics. yet today I heard of the athletes that are in athens already, there is nothing but praise for the greeks, and one french official said that he sees in greece is 100 times better than what he saw in sydney. Its the negativity from american and british mass media (with the influence of policy makers I'm sure) that gets to me. Britain even got footage of what spectacle greece will put on during the opening ceremonies and broadcasted it on English television. Something greece was trying to keep a surprise.

pao,
I am not talking about six thousand years of history, but two weeks
of greek pride and prestige as the Olympiad make their return to their birthplace, something that was denied to us by again the Americans in 1996 on
the 100th anniversary of the Olympiad. The whole world knows greece is the cradle of western civilization, and by hosting these Olympic games it will leave greeks with resolve and a certain satisfaction that is perhaps the missing piece of the puzzle of an extrodinary nation ,people and history.

gennadios,

that's the way it is file. Maybe I can open some eyes and make others realize how it seems the whole world has been against the Greeks. You cannot hide the facts, and the truth. Actions are louder than words as they say and we have seen the actions of American, British and Australian trouble makers at their coniving best. And now we have the Turks flying over our Aigaio. This is the reality re gennadios, and by hosting the best Olympiad ever maybe we can shut a few of the critics up!!!

i just hope everything goes as planned. as far as hosting the best olympics ever imo every olympics is special be it in djibouti or the founding land. it is the culmination of every atheletes career when he/she pits their skills against the best in their line of sport.

i dont really care about the politics of the sports just what each man can put up against the other.

as far as negative criticism, lol what would the world be without critics??? if everyone agreed on one point then we wouldnt need to have a discussion forum lol i think we need to give the press a break cause even if they cant say something good about the event atleast ull are getting the spotlight lol.

and its like any situation, who are we to make judgments on something we havent seen with our own eyes and trust as a perception of someone else.

i hope greece has a good olympics and as for a frenchman saying this is better than that all i have to say is get ur head in ur job and stop admiring the surroundings cause the event is about to kick into gear.

cheers and good luck to all teams and individual atheletes....

Olympic Football is behind in popularity to the World Cup, Euro and Copa America Competitions though.. so as far as Olympic Football goes, who really cares.. we get to see who the best country's are pretty much every two years.

I think it's stupid to have an Olympic AND World Cup football competition. Pick one and make it the main event.. they're pretty much pining for the right to be the best in the world. Like footballers aren't playing in more competitions than they should.

mel81,
obviously you are not a greek and do not have the heart and passion and pride that flows through the blood of all greeks. You can lol all you want but start talking some sense because it seems you are one of those that cannot face reality. Sure the Olympics are a world event, but by bringing them back to their birthplace its just that extra special. And if it wasn't for that french baron von coubertin back in the day, who's bright idea was to move the olympics around the world, the olympic games would be hosted where they are suppose to be in the homeland. And greek organizers have discussed this with olympic committee senior officials, but a decision has not been made. Oh and there is a difference between critics, and scoundrels like the US and Britain that seem to be instilling into the world that greece will be full of terrorists when the games start. all they are talking about is security, and security. start talking about the events, the country and the beauty of Hellas, the host of the 28th Olympiad.

mel81x
08-08-2004, 09:49 PM
Ahem and what reality is that that i cant face? the fact that i promote having international events to be hosted around the world? i think its kinda silly to host an international event in the same place every four years. i mean if ull want to have a 'special event' every four years go ahead an host ur own olympics every four years.

its kinda sad that your playing 'im greek and have more passion about the olympics than any other country will ever have' card. cause honestly if ull had that much passion then ull would be showing it on the field not by telling the world that ull can host an olympic tournament.

and yes i lol a lot because i think its a joke when ppl argue about whats better. everything is relative, whats good today isnt tomorrow. i hope all goes well cause i want to see some sport. who cares if the fireworks are good and if the opening ceremony rocks. all anyone ever remembers is who came first/second and what scandals were committed.

do u remember the openning ceremony of sydney? or seoul? or atlanta? lol i think not so come up with something more concrete than saying yeah ur not greek so u wont understand.

this whole im from here ur from there crap is fifth grade.

What does being Greek have anything to do with putting up shop to house the worlds best atheletes and showing the rest of the world that progress is happening ahead of time?

I mean if i came and saw that ull werent ready a month before a WORLD event i would write shit too.... its an event of a giant magnitude ppl expect big things and if u dont deliver they get bitter.

when everyone's watching you, you must learn to keep them satisfied inorder to not get bad publicity or do ull not care?

im done with this silly argument, i started out unbiased and now i dont even care anymore, i just hope theres water in the pool for the diving contests, the fields are good and ready for the footy and that the runners put on a good show.

if you had the heart and soul of a greek you would understand the pride that flows in the blood of every greek around the world. when we cut ourselves we bleed the blue and white of the greek flag. the heart of every greek around the world was shattered when the olympics were to be held in the motherland on the 100th anniversary of the olympiad the americans stole the olympics away from us. like i said you are not greek and cannot and will never feel what greeks feel by finally getting to host the Olympics after one-hundred eight years of waiting.

ok guys, i figured i might just add something into this. i just went thru and read all the nonsense that is goin on in this forum. and i must say, i honestly agree with.........mel. he was the only one who came in unbiased and open for a decent conversation. the ones that were arguing with him, u were putting words into his mouth. honestly, that is what it seemed like.

thrylosgate7-when u said something about "every Greek bleeds blue and white when they are cut, etc." FIRST of all, i doubt EVERY single one does. Second of all...dont u think that every country in the world says that. every country that competes in something says that. lets see...
Argentina ppl bleeds blue and white..
Austria ppl bleed red and white..
Brazil ppl bleed green and yellow
Cameroon ppl bleed green, yellow AND red(not many ppl can bleed 3 colors lol)
France ppl bleed red, white, and blue
WTF?!?! so do Americans....and Brits....and Aussies...and Liberians....and Yugoslavians...and Thais...and Paraguay, and Puerto Rico...and...Oh my gosh...CUBA DOES TOO! isnt that amazing...that all those countries that have COMPLETELY different view points (ie Cuba and America) bleed the same colors? or is it just a "different shade"? if a cuban and a cuban that moved to America stood next to each other, and bled red, white and blue...u wouldnt be able to tell who was from where. and u know it.

no wait...i am wrong....i stand corrected. the HUMAN ppl bleed red. and that is that. a human is a human. u might be the Greek group, I might be the American group, he might be this, she might be that. but damn, we can break it down even farther than that. i might be a St. Louisan (someone from St. Louis) and u might be an Athenian (someone from Athens...if that is what they call it) but no, u can break it down farther than that...to ur last name...i might be a Smith, u might be a Cyrilla. BUT WHO GIVES A FLYIN RAT'S ASS?! HUH?!?!? who cares. all this "i dont want to have anything to do with u...i am from here u r from there" bull....STOP! olympics are in Athens, great! i am excited...and i am an American. no, i am a human. yea i am excited to be able to see olympics in their birth place. it IS exciting. were u at the convention when they decided to make Atlanta the place for the Olympics? no, i didnt think so. so stop saying we "stole" the olympics from u. aparently the man that was there representing the area of the world u live in, might have said, ok. MAYBE, he thought something different. but i am not gonna say anything else. because i just want to see some Olympic action. some hard-core competition.

like I said to mel81 you are not a greek and would not understand. Greece is the cradle of western civilization. We have educated north and south east and west. All corners of the globe. when I talk of greeks bleeding the blue and white of the flag, I say it out of my love for greece. All nationalities should be this proud of their country and culture as well. wherever your from. Do you find it wrong that I love my country so much? my advice to you is to pick up a book or two and learn a bit about the history of the greeks, and get off the horse shit man. dont have a list i get things done as and when they come up, i dont expect u to check a map of florida either just saying that there is a melbourne in florida and thats where im at lol.

By Geographical standards one would assume your'e from the states as Florida is a state of that country. But surprise us, reveal all and say where your'e from, seeing as your'e usually online when it's in the early hours of the morning in Europe, it'll be hard to come out with a straight face saying that you're actually from Portugal, Spain, Italy whatever.
But I'm sure you happen to be Porteguese when Porto wins a cup, Spanish when Real wins something, and probably Italian when AC Milan wins another big prize.

Greece is beautiful country with delicious foods, such as Gyro pita snadwich with lamb steak.
But, the games in Athens was really disappointing.
Refs had so much problems and many players in Athens officially blamed for bad calls.
