Got this from a Copa America site, this is what Lavolpe said before the game
"I wish Adriano and Luis Fabiano were injured so they wouldn't play against us, but this is football. Lavolpe said."
How can u wish injury on anyone? so sad that your so insecure about your team that you have to wish someone was injured.

Whose Lavolpe? The mexican coach or some guy on that site? Whoever it was, you can't blame them since Luis Fabiano is one of Brasil's finest and Adriano (despite having one bad game), has been striker of the tournament thus far.

why do you think he lives in mexico? its cause argentina don't want him cause shit like that! ARGENTINA CAMPEON!!!!!!!!!!!
before the match against Brazil, for the quarterfinals, in which his team was thrashed 4-nil by Carlos Alberto Parreira´s men, Ricardo Lavolpe stated that Brazil never made him lose sleep or appetite, in a scornful provocation towards the Brazilian squad.
After the match yesterday, the 18th, when Mexico squandered few chances, Lavolpe expressed his lack of motivation to continue at the helm of the Mexican team and said he might quit the job: "I must talk to Mr. Alberto de la Torre (President of the Mexican Football Federation), but I will most probably leave the job open for another person to manage Mexico. I¿m sick and tired of all the criticism."
Despite not having spoken to the coach yet, President Alberto de la Torre, supported the permanence of Lavople: "He´s still in charge, and a poor result won´t sack him from the national team."
The headines on Mexican newspapers expressed all their dissatisfaction with the Mexican side. "El Diario" wrote: "It could have been worse!". "Diario do Mexico" highlighted that Lavolpe´s confidence in beating Brazil was an illusion: "Mexico¿s bitter awakening". "Ovaciones" were more emphatic: "After achieving his greatest feat by beating Argentina, in this Copa América, Lavolpe suffers his worst humiliation by losing to Brazil".
By the way, the press is the main reason for the Mexican coach´s demotivation. The manager didn´t mention names, but he said "there are no conditions for me to continue, since the journalists have harassed me from the day I arrived."
Argentinean-born Ricardo Lavolpe took charge of the Mexican team in January, 2003, and the main titles won by the Aztec side was the Copa Ouro, ironically against Brazil and the qualification of the Under-23 squad to the Olympics in Athens.

IMO, the result wasn't anything for Mexico to cry home about...they were up against a very credible Brasil team... a lot of teams have fallen victim to Adriano so Mexico should have nothing to be ashamed of :D Mexico can't be expected to beat Brasil. :) So its not a dissapointment that they lost, they never were hot s*** to begin with.. they can't even beat USA. Hopefully FIFA pulls their head out of their ass and adjusts their ranking system because I think that Adriano proved my inital statement correct: That Mexico is over-rated and should be pulled down from the top 10 to possibly the bottom of the top 20 if they are lucky.

Overrated..hmmm... First of all, Its good that you put In UR opinion, because the majority of us humans, would expect Mexico to beat Brazil... The are not the team from "heaven." They are vinsible. Now, Mexico has had its problems in the last 4 years or so. The USA doesnt even come close to Mexico in Rankings. Mexico has by far a better record and I guarantee you they will get back on their feet. Sure, the US is growing but people like you like to get on their dick and worship them just because they beat Mexico a couple of times. Look at the history books... Mexico on average would shut out the US i.e 10-0...
So go ahead and doubt Mexicos skill and success. They will prove you non-believers wrong when we get rid of the coach. BTW, Hell no I dont want Hugo Sanchez... Sure, he was a bad ass player, but hes not fit to be coach, just like that Argentinian coach that just signed with Club America. Ugh... He sucks as well.
Anyways... Get real, Mexico doesnt suck and if they are ranked #6... Get over it...

i could'nt have said it better myself. the funny thing is,is that the mexicans really do think they have a good team. it's the only reason i say so much shit about them on here, its one thing to cheer your team on but they should'nt expect anything more than just playing as hard as they can.your right mexico never had a chance really as long as brazil did'nt just fall apart which would'nt have happened. the mexicans need to realize there soccer team sucks! sorry thats just how it is. imagine if japan was invited and there fans on here trying to say there gonna beat brazil. people would laugh in there face, same thing with mexico. after they beat argentina they thought they were the shit, instead brazil made them realize they ARE shit, and not THE shit.HA HA HA!!!!!!! VAMOS ARGENTINA!!!!!!!!!

I don't worship the states... Unlike many Canadians, I may not be prejudiced against americans (ok some of them are ignorant hillbillies but I know quite a lot of intellectual americans) but that doesn't mean I worship the states. I'm just stating facts. The USA is better than Mexico in futbeol... They have better individual talent with a lot of their players playing in the EPL, some in Germany I believe and whatever else. (Can Mexico claim to have a goalie in Manchester United who is getting clean sheets over there? No, if they did, Brasil would have only beat them like 1-0 not 4-0)..
One of these days, USA will be a superpower in futebol if they can somehow gain interest from their fanbase (though unfortunately this will take awhile as americans still don't even have enough interest in Ice Hockey :D)... when they get the interest, they will invest like mad and be up there with the best... something that Mexico can only dream of with them having almost all of their players playing in a substandard Azteca league that isn't going to go anywhere.
As for the FIFA Rankings, yes it is commercialized bs... FIFA seems to be loving Coca-Colas' ..... well you know but I was just stating that because FIFA should take the rankings and their organization as a whole more seriously... The fact that they don't makes FIFA seem to be more of a commercialized joke year by year. Recently FIFA just had the worst Euro Cup tournament of all-time and their WC 2002 sucked real bad too (brasil won though... so it wasn't all bad :D) That is a good indication that FIFA is at an all-time low in quality and credibility. The Copa America is still good though, its just the officiating that sucks. :D

The future of American players can not look brighter with more than a dozen youngsters playing in the youth division of the most prestigious European Clubs, only at Manchester United -besides Howard in first team- we have Kenny Cooper, striker still at the Academy level; but above all, write down this name: JONATHAN SPECTOR a 16 year old defender with the first team reserve who might see some action on the EPL this year, everyone at Man U. is delighted by his skills.
I predict that in two more world cup cycles the USA will trash Mexico every single time they play, if in the last 8 meetings Mexico walked off the field with only one win the future doesn’t look too good for them, unless they start developing a program where a new generation of players get their football formation outside the D.F.
Wait and see.

It was supposed to be good in baseball and athletics but as we all know now there are huge clouds of doubt and suspicion due to steroid and drug use.
