Errr...OK! :D
What are you making?

LOL ! I made Chicken Alfredo ....... today - I got up at 3:30 a.m. ... I painted a room - put up some shelves - renewed the fireplace mantle - worked on hubby's business (accounts etc.) - redecorated the living room (pictures/furniture etc.) - spray-painted a bunch of furniture etc. ... and now I'm gonna rest for a few mins so I can start cooking ...

Today's menu:

Pork Chops in wine sauce with mushrooms
Mashed Potatoes
Peas - Carrots - Corn
... and a Macaroni & Cheese (for a lil extra - after midnight snack !)

Sheesh - I'm tired ......

Yes, we do have TV in England.

No, I did not vote for Hitler.

No, we do not celebrate the Forth of July.

These are the answers to what must have been the three most inane
questions I have been asked since moving to the States. Although to be
fair, the Hitler query was posed by a 4th grader and the other two were
asked within ten minutes of each other by the same person.

On the whole I have found Americans to be very different to their
racial stereotype of loud, uneducated, know-it-alls. As I am sure everywhere I
have been I have destroyed the preconception that Englishmen are
stuffy, superior and rather dull.

On the subject of Forth of July I will say this: Remember, remember
the fifth of November.

Yes, Guy Fawkes night. It conjures up memories of burning effigies,
fireworks, huge bonfires and trips to the ER.

Why do the British endanger their offspring every November 5th? It's
all because Queen Elizabeth (the first one - you know, Cate Blanchet)
didn't get enough. Alright, I admit its a bit of a stretch but it's
slightly more interesting than the social and political ramifications of
the sectarian climate of Europe.

Here's what happened:

Elizabeth (Anglican) dies leaving no heir to the throne
James I (Originally Roman Catholic, son of Mary Queen of Scots (Also
Roman Catholic, who was executed by Elizabeth)) ascends to the throne.
Roman Catholics in England are treated worse than when Elizabeth was
alive.
A group of Catholic conspirators hire Guy Fawkes (Catholic but would
work for anyone) to blow up the Houses of Parliament during it's annual
opening. He flipped it up.

If you want to learn more, surf the web a little.

So what does this have to do with insults? Absolutely nothing, but at
least it is topical.

Insults

1. Git (noun) Idiot (DEFCON 2) I usually infer a smarmier, slimier
undertone to this insult. Especially common when an act of pure luck
occurs " you lucky/jammy/spawny git!"

2. Wanker (noun) Jerk off (DEFCON 3) Actually pronounced "Wanka!"
especially in London. This word has been bandied about in a few
American sit-coms but sadly it has failed to take hold.

3. Poof/ Poofter (noun) Man who has sex with men (DEFCON 3) As with
wanker is actually pronounced poofta. The oo sound is as in "foot",
not as in "soon". (side note - Men who have sex with men (MSM) is an
actually term used in HIV research circles. I don't know if it because
the average scientist has trouble saying the word homosexual without
giggling, or people believe that homosexuality is a lifestyle choice to
which many MSM's don't subscribe.)

4. Slag/ Slapper (noun) Lady of loose moral values (DEFCON3)

5. Berk (noun, of course they're all nouns, they're insults.) Idiot
(DEFCON 2 but should actually be a 5) Many people use the epithet Berk
without knowing its meaning. It is actually cockney rhyming slang.
This message is already far too long to go into details as to why
people from the East End of London feel the need to make up words that rhyme
with other words, and then use the non-rhyming part. I think I'll deal
with that another time. However Berk is short for Berkshire hunt (and
it doesn't take too much imagination to work out what that rhymes with)

By the way, TV was in fact invented by a Scotsman called John Logy
Baird.

My son used to play for Panionio when he was 15 (we lived in N. Smirni, so it was close to us) - was then ready to move onto Pao (when Rotsa was a trainer, saw him in one of the games and asked to sign him on) - we were so excited - but - he had to quit because of serious injuries - and then, he left for England to continue his studies (for 2 yrs), then he had his military draft to finish - so he missed out - now he's working ... we've always been PAO fans ... even though MOST of our friends were Olympiakoi ... which ended up with us going to watch a whole lot of games with Olympiako playing ! :)

It's called "ratings" ... and the more shit they give us to watch - the more we want - part of human nature - NOTHING seems to be enough for us - or good enough for us ... we're just not satisfied with the simple things in life anymore ... sad, but true.

Well dear Kat you're saying that as if it was a bad thing, when the real truth is that that same human desire of always seeking for more is what leaded us to great scientific advances and the great technology we now have....

Leon, I know what you're saying, and I don't deny the fact that we've advanced in technology ... but when it comes down to the "entertainment" factor - we're looking for more - it's a never-ending frenzy for more "shock" value. The ratings show those numbers on the rise - the more gruesome and violence they give us - the higher those ratings go.

Exactly ! we learn from the bad - helps us be prepared ... plan and attack :)

While I do believe that when someone has a positive attitude - it kinda helps in attaining some good luck - better karma :)

LOL ! I actually cooked for 2 days (since I was going to be busy with building a console table for the entrance hall :) ) ....

I made Snitsel both Beef & Pork (loads of it) ... and Beef Stroganoff ... Salads ... stuck it all in the fridge ...

Today I'm going to be lazy (hubby's orders ! I'm not allowed to do any type of work - just be lazy) ... so that's what I'm doing right now ! LOL ... been up since 4:00 am ... now I'm having another coffee - chatting in here - and later I'll watch some DIY proggies on the TV (get a few more ideas for the house) ... probably make some phone calls to my family and my son ... and that's about it ! :)

I will mainly cook roast chicken and parsnips, maybe some steak :grumpy:

Here's my recipe for Roast Chicken & Potatoes (EVERYONE loves it !)

1 Chicken (whole or cut, wash)
Potatoes (10-12 large ones - wash, cut/quarter)
1 cup Olive Oil
1/2 cup of Lemon Juice
2 cups Water
1 Tbsp Paprika
2-3 Tbsps Oregano
2 Tbsp Mustard
Salt - Pepper

Put the Chicken (skin side up) and Potatoes in a large baking pan ... then mix together all the other ingredients in a bowl ... Pour all over the chicken and potatoes ... Bake in the oven for approx. 1 hr (350 degrees) ... check it, and turn it over - if it's getting dry, poor some water over it - bake it until the chicken becomes brow ... turn it over again (chicken skin side up) - and continue baking until it's crip and brown - potatoes will have some crispy corners and soft inside (watch that the liquid doesn't dry entirely) ... you should have some nice gravy at the end of it all ...

I'm there with ya on that :) We moved into a new house this year - so we're in the same boat ... but it's fun though ! Hard work but really rewarding :)

Yesterday I made a table for the entrance ... looks darn great :) ... I also finished the guest bathroom up - and since I changed the mirror in there - I'll be putting it in the entrance above the table I made - that mirror's huge, but it's plain, got no frame around it - so my next project is on the way very soon - I thought about it this morning - I'll be making a frame around it myself by doing stain-glass painting (make a nice design) ... that way I get off cheap - PLUS - I'll be doing some hobby-work too :)

WHAT ? I'd be suspicious of that ! they used to email me - tell me to click on the link to verify my account ... that's all ...

I can't for the life of me understand WHY they'd ask for someone's id and to fax them ... nooooo ... I'm glad you didn't do that ! they should have your id - and that is, so long as they have the credit card with the address that your bank sends you your statements (verification) - that's more than enough for them.

Hello Mike,

Thank you for taking the time to write to us today. This is Deandra
again, and I would like to assist you further.

I apologize for my previous response. Although the first part address
the issues that you brought up, I gave you information regarding a
separate account afterwards. I apologize for the confusion.

Therefore, the response that you should have been sent is as follows:

Please note that in order for your account to be reinstated we require
one item from Group One and one item from Group Two. If you are missing
one of these items, please try to find something that is government
issued for Group One evidence (such as a birth certificate) and
something that is issued by a major company from Group Two (such as a
statement from a major utility company or bank or driving license that
clearly states your address). This will allow us to verify all of the
contact details that you have placed on this account.

Our fax number is: 0207 681 2348

If you prefer to mail us this information please mail your appeal to us
at the following address:

eBay Investigations Department
P.O. Box 9473
Dublin 15
Ireland

PLEASE NOTE: to ensure a fast delivery of your evidence add the correct
postage amount on your envelope.

As soon as your identity has been verified, we will be happy to review
this suspension.

Please ensure that you quote your email address and eBay User ID clearly
on every correspondence and allow at least 48 to 72 hours from receipt
of the requested information for it to be processed. Emailing us before
that time may result in delays.

Once the above information is provided, we will review your suspension
and notify you of our decision via email. If the information we are
requesting is not submitted, your account will remain suspended with no
further review.

Thank you for your time and attention to this important matter.

Best wishes,

Deandra Price

You need to clear it up with them - that is, IF you're still interested in staying with them ... otherwise, fuk 'em ! If they can't get their work straightened out - then they're going to lose a lot more people ...
