With increasing traffic and users in the inter board, and after Zek's sad resignation, there's an opening in the 4th mod position.

Make your vote count.

GiorgioII
06-19-2004, 08:50 AM
I vote Musiq.
Although I would quite like it myself.
Musiq has made many posts. He is sensible and makes good points. Also he never gets involved in petty arguments. That's why he should be it!

Anyway, where is IlCapitano??

hehehe, never gets involved in petty arguements :D you haven't been here as long as I have to see Musiq involved in fights common in school yards :silly: J/K Musiq's a good person. Very cultured and well mannered (most of the time)

I vote for Musiq too, on the basis of seniority, character, and activeness.

I don't know where il capitano is, he hasn't been on in months now. He's been busy with his studies though.

Well since I've known Musiq...which I agree isn't a very long time I haven' seen too many petty arguments. But I'll take your word for it Nismo! :D

First of all, I want to give my heartfelt thanks to you guys. I am honoured to know that you guys regard me so highly, and that in itself is satisfaction enough for me. :rolling: :)

Happy as I am, I honestly have to say that I wouldn't be the right person to take this post on. Unfortunately, my college starts from the end of July, and let me tell you, college in India is one of the most taxing things in life. I'll be up to my nose in studies, and it will take a miracle for me to be active here. The only times I will probably be free to post regularly will be during my summer and winter vacations. So if I do take this post on, I'll be doing the same thing IlCapitano is - nothing! Not that I blame him, God knows I sympathize with him, 'cos I've been through it all, and will continue to again soon.

Besides that, as Nismo full well knows from my younger days here, underneath this supposedly "cultured and well-mannered" person is a beast waiting to be unleashed. Put that in a position of power, and you'd create a cyber-Frankenstein! :D

I wouldn't mind being a 'seasonal moderator' - just grabbing the reigns at my off seasons - but I'm sure Omar has better things to do than constantly switch mods...

So that's how my status stands - I wish it could be otherwise, but I'd just be kidding myself and all of you if I said it was...:(.

---------------------------------------------------------------

OK, now to the serious stuff. Firstly, Nismo, I'm surprised you haven't made this a sticky. Unstick the other stuff - like the Inter hospital, Inter Alumni, Inter Off season, Inter Classic Photos etc. which isn't relevant right now, because we have too many stickys (which is one reason I didn't notice this thread till now).
Secondly, I'll give my vote straight into Nismo's PM Mail-box, because it's something I need to discuss privately with him. No offence to anyone, but I feel that this is necessarily "For Nismo's Eyes Only", as the James Bond movie goes...:D

GiorgioII
06-20-2004, 10:15 AM
OK. I now see 3 options

1)Give it to IlFenomeno or CV32 :ronaldo: Joking! ;) :ronaldo:

2)A petition to get Zek back. But I assume he's two busy and that's why he gave up the job in the first place.

3)Give it to someone who hasn't made many posts but is very sensible and intelligent...Ryan 27??He hasn't posted that much, but then he only joined very recently.

When will the decision be made by??

Sebastian

..it's quite tempting to ellect a moderator aspecially when all of the cool veterans are not that frequent....it has to be someone who we know well so that we can skip the missunderstandings....i dont know what else i can say....Musiq has explained his reasons and the same goes for Zek....so exept these two i dont have anyone specific on my mind......

Hey you can never have enough stickys :D

I had a feeling you'll decline because of university studies :(
It's a real shame but totally understandable. I would do the same in your position, but in my case I'm pretty much on the computer everyday at Uni so it doesn't matter :D

I'm still waiting for the PM musiq

After Musiq's voluntary withdrawal we'll have to reset the elections, so who excluding Musiq should be mod?

my next choice is Giorgio who has shown to be an active poster eversince he registered and gets along with everyone.

Actually, it's only the first year that I'll be this tight. First years in my universities aren't allowed their own computers, nor regular access to computers. So despite the fact that I'll be majoring in Computer Science, I'll still not be able to post regularly.

But from my second year on, I can be more regular. If there's another opening next year, or any of the following years, I'll be able to take on a post here.

And the PM has been sent, Nis. Read it top to bottom...:D

Man computer science, very ambitious musiq  a few of my friends do computer science, it's pretty hard (hope I didn't turn you off there :) ) but if you do the work it's achievable
good luck man.

I dunno why, but computer science comes to me as naturally as eating and peeing! I don't find it hard at all, but rather, I find it fun! In fact, the reason I'm taking it is because I found it that much fun in school as well. If you'll believe it, the least marks I ever got in Computer science was 98%...sounds rather cocky of me, but it's all true...:D.

The one thing I hate about the Indian system, though, is that for the first couple of years, I'll have to focus on everything, particularly Physics, Chem and Mathematics. I don't mind Maths, but I don't like Physics and Chem much. I'd like it if I could simply do only computer science, and nothing else...:(

I've got first year coming up too... but im doing stuff in the arts... so there will be tons of essay writing :D lol. Initially I was going to go into computer science but then once I got into grade 11 and was introduced to physics (which has to be taken in university if you're going into computer science)... I bailed out from that computer science field completely :D

You're from Canada, right? How much freedom of course selection do you get in your universities?
A few of my class-mates will be headed for Canada, a couple of whom to University of Toronto, and some others to McMasters. I didn't apply to Canada myself, because of 'weather reasons'. I just can't stand cold. Lol, that's what happens if you live in a desert for too long....:D

At the universities in Australia, at least for the commerce area, all students are required to do the foundations units like Law, Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Management, Information Systems, Statistics, and Economics whether they like it or not, then after 1st year they can choose which major they want to take. So we're not that much different from India, but it's only for the first year.

Australia is a pretty popular place for international students, in fact our tertiary education is a multi-billion dollar business industry. Any of your friends choosing Australia Musiq?

Musiq
06-22-2004, 01:18 PM
Yeah, I know Australia's a pretty popular choice for international students. No one from my year's going to Australia, but I know a couple of seniors from my school have gone to Monash. Besides them, a close friend of mine (two years my junior, though) immigrated to Melbourne last year. Another mate of mine (again a couple of years junior) is headed to Adeleide this January (immigrating). Both these guys are great footballers, and we've played some great matches together. You never know, maybe one of them might get into the Aussie NT before long, thanks to the new FIFA rules...:D

I wanted to be closer to home though, that's why I didn't apply. I did apply to the US, but that's 'cos my sister's there.

adrianofan
06-22-2004, 03:23 PM
For course selection, it mainly depends on the university and program itself... when I was considering going into Computer Science at Ryerson University (located in Toronto) for example.... all of the courses I had to take were already given to me (Geometry, some other Math courses, Computer Science of course, Physics, etc) ... I had no electives that I could choose.

But in the arts, its very open-ended in most universities... you just have to take one art course the first year (though the arts I think is the most open-ended field to study first year anyway) ... and I have some friends going into Business at University of Toronto and they have to take some business courses first year (like management) but they also have to select one writing course (I guess arts stream)... So it all depends on the program and university as you can have almost total freedom, moderate freedom or no freedom at all. :D

Btw, those mandatory courses in Australia don't sound bad... i'd say its a pretty good idea for people to understand what they would like to do with their lives... heck even myself, I am not sure what to do with mine. lol. I just know that I want to go into the arts because I like subjects like psychology, philosophy, anthropology, etc. and dislike mathematics (Geometry and Calculus give me headaches), all sciences (ESPECIALLY physics), business etc. So I pratically dislike most of the subjects that are out there. lol. My international business class in high school was pretty fun but the rest was boring especially management... If only real-world management was as fun as it is in Championship Manager.

Monash is a top university, actually there was a shooting there not long ago, some post-grad student went nuts and started killing students. Apparently he had a breakdown.
Do your friends have family or relatives in Australia?

Yeah you can get homesick, it's a pretty big challenge to study overseas :( especially if when you got the language or cultural barrier

Hmm...I didn't know that about Monash. Sounds like fun....
Anyway, yeah, my friends have their whole family in Australia.

My parents promised me that during one of my vacations (probably once I've graduated or something) he'd let me go on a trip 'round Australia. Who knows, if you're still in Perth, I might come around and pay you a visit...:D

That's the main reason my parents didn't want me to apply to Europe, even if I was pretty keen on this German University called the International University of Bremen. You never know, I might have been able to break into the Bundesliga if I'd gone there, but maybe that's the whole reason why my parents refused to let me apply there. ;)

As long as I'm in any English-speaking country, though, I wouldn't have much of a language problem...

Yeah I'll show you around town :D You'll feel at home in Perth, it's a multicultural city. There's also a Sikh community (are you Sikh?)

Well what about England? You wouldn't have problems coming to grips with the language and culture there.
Yeah if you went to Bremen you can catch up with ex-Inter boy (technically he is :D) Umit Davala :) Actually if you went there when they won the league a few months ago you could've been part of the festivities

Naah, I'm Hindu. But I have lots of Sikh friends. They're cool, only I don't like the strictness of their religion. Can you imagine spending your whole life without shaving or having a hair-cut? Phew.... :worried:

Well what about England? You wouldn't have problems coming to grips with the language and culture there.

Probably, but it's too expensive there - high cost of living. Way beyond my budget...

I know, it was kind of surprising actually, that none of the so-called heavyweights won. There's another ex-Inter boy there, ex-Parma as well. Johan Micoud. He was one of the stars of their season, and France were stupid not to call him up. Inter were even more stupid though. They had him for about half a season, then they sold half his contract to Parma, and then somehow he ended up in Werder Bremen...

I was so shocked that they won the Bundesliga. They have got no real stars as such, although Ailton has been a very important player for them.

I can see how this may seem, that I'm desperate to be given the role, but I'm just really excited for whoever gets it.

06-27-2004, 05:55 PM
Well, more or less everyone who wanted to vote on this has done so. But the main votes that count are those of the mods themselves, and above all, Omar. So let them take their time and decide. You can be sure they'll make the choice that'll be best for our board.

Hi guys,

I've been out on business trips to UK, Georgia, Turkey and now finally back to the office. However, it seems that I would be travelling a lot and may even be sent to some odd location without internet. So unfortunately there's no chance of come back to mod position from me. Also, my manager isn't happy with me visiting this forum during worktime as I usually do (i do it now as well) and I have one new guy to coach... so you see the workload isn't normal now, it's extensive. Appreciate thoughts on petition and sorry Elcino...

Musig - thanks for taking mod position seriously and refusing from it as you won't have time for that. It's a very ethical move man!

Finally, my vote - GiorgioII, he's the most balance member of the forum now together with Elcino! he's fair and knowledgable and has everything to become a mod. There're no alternatives for him now. So GO for it GIORGIO!

As for second mod position (IlCapitano - if you decide to revote his position) my vote goes for ChuChu!!! he's all capacities and almost everything I've told about Giorgio is applicable to him as well.

Nismo - it is already several months that you're argumenting with CV32. You're all over the place being quite boring. Please think about it, it is really unpleasant to see someone especially mod and good friend wasting so much time on CV32 and downgrading himself to his level. I am afraid Elcino has similar opinion.

I am trying to visit forum as much as i can but you know...

nismo
06-30-2004, 12:16 PM
Yeah sorry for taking so long on the mod decision. It won't be too long now. I'm still discussing with elcino, and add to that I haven't been able to log on that much in recent days.

And Zek, OK man, I'll call a ceasefire with cv32, only because you and elcino asked me to ;)

As for the mod votes, Musiq was the clear favourite but after his refusal there's been deliberation between the mods (me and elcino :D ) over what course of action to take now.

BTW Zek I don't think we should revoke Il capitano's mod position, if he came back to find out he's been unilaterally removed it could be upsetting for him. Can you PM me his email if you have it?

giorgio and musiq are the best to fill the mod place... adrianofan and ryan are also great to have as mod...

to be honest, i am far worst than nismo... you do know what happenned between me and cv32 in the past... ^^
i did read all stuffs between nismo and cv32... luckily i didn't have much time to interfere coz i was having huge exam last month (the most recommended book for the exam was about 2-inches thicked!!!)... you could imagine what would happen if i interfere... this place could turn into a battlefield... ^^ just kidding!!!
next week there will be another exam... and by the end of july i will get another exam.... i don't know what could happen to me in the upcoming months... i'm afraid that i won't have much time... thanks zek, you have faith in me... but the 4 guys i mentioned above are the best candidates!!

you know this thread always keep me away from my playstation... ^^
i don't know why reading some debates between you guys is more interesting than anything around me... and i believe that sometimes you need people like cv32 and ilfenomeno around this thread... they kept the thread alive when nobody was around.... but yeah they need to correct their attitude... and of course i have to correct mine as well... imo, i am more worst than the two.... that's what i think about the thread...

GiorgioII
06-30-2004, 08:51 PM
Chu Chu??You are joking right? There's no way you're worse than those two.
Il Fenomeno hasn't been that active recently. I seriously think though that CV32 can become a decent member if we just leave this argument though. In a lot of threads he has made good points in which he doesn't resort to swearing.

hi guys,

thanks Nismo for ceasefire ;) no i don't have an email from ilcapitano, i was just offering to consider his absence and if anyone can contact him just ask where's this boy gone :D

Chu_chu never tell anyone that you're crap even if you are :D just joking

cheers,

I don't post like a mindless idiot like some of the members on this forum do.. I just post what's realistic and what i see in games. I just can't stand when people are arguing over something they can't win. Even if they are wrong they still got to bitch and moan about it.

Then I wonder what kind of "mindless idiot" makes one liner bullshit whenever they can't reply  Must be a special kind eh
Notice how the words "realistic" and "what I see" are contradictory and purely subjective?? Everyone constructs their reality how they like it based on values and attitude, what you might perceive to be right could be wrong in someone else's eyes. What I can't understand is the total lack of tolerance and close-mindness some people behave, thinking they are the ones who are only right, it's nothing short of bigotry and ignorance. And why is it about "winning" anyway? Only someone with low self esteem and little regard for a social life will take "winning" so seriously on a message board, it's f**kin ridiculous if you ask me. The whole point of coming to this forum is exchanging opinions and disussions. If you wanted to "win" then go join a debate team. BTW That's your opinion if you think they're wrong, and seems like the only one bitching and moaning is you since you felt the need to say something so irrelevant. Get over it

Do you think your words really mean anything around here cv32?? Anyways, sorry cv32 but I'm not as low and pathetic as you are, to try and "win" something so imaginary over the Internet. I have a life.

Pressing forward to matters of more importance, it's been decided amongst the mods to cancel the unsuccessful election for a new mod after Musiq's voluntarily withdrawal from the mod seat. We feel that since Musiq was the outright favourite, we didn't want to be perceived as bias or unfair to elect someone else at this moment in time. Thanks for participating and sorry for taking so long to come to a decision.
