My vote has to go to Boban as he was a born leader who was respected by everyone he ever played with and had a great club and international career.

I think Suker scored six. And to those who point to the lack of legendary players, this is a poll for modern players 1991+. I, and most others on the board, never saw any of the others play so we couldn't judge them fairly.

I am pretty sure he scored seven because my dad gave me a fifa poster which had all the champions and all the golden boot winners and suker in 1998, had 7 goals to became the golden boot winner.

Japan
Romania
Germany

Netherlands

That's six. But six is awesome. He was an unbelievable striker. My fav Suker goals were:
EC96 DEN chip over Schmichal
WC98 FRA I thought we were in the finals!!
Qualifying for EC2000 IRELAND. The goal in the third minute of injury time. Few players in the history of the game could have scored that goal.

I believe that the best croatian player is Zvonimir Boban but my favourite player is Aliosa Asanovic. He had played in Panathinaikos for three years and he had been belauded by the fans . I will never forget that player!!

My team is about to take Srdan Andric. What do you know about that player ? Here, some journalists say that he is considered to be one of the best talents of croatian football . What is your opinion?

Currently my favourite Croat player is Dado Prso, after impressive performances in Champions League and a great goal against France in Euro 2004, but my all-time favourite would have to be Davor Suker. :thumbsup:

I would have picked Boban but cause of his bad pass against France we didn't go to the Final of France '98. So I went for Tudor who is like a brick wall!! Suker was a legend when he had the ball but he mainly just finished off what great work the rest of the team was doing!

Acctually I wasn't sure for whom to vote between them two: finally I made up my mind to vote for Suker. But also Boban did a lot for Croatia and Milan.

It was a tought decision between Suker and Boban, but i like Boban, he was an awesome player- him Suker and Boksic are my favourite trio- unfortunately they didn't play together in 98 or else we would've won for sure. France couldn't handle Suker alone, just imagine if Boksic played :D

as for Aljo I AGREE!!!! I don't really like Boban as a person he was a little bit too much patriotic if you know what i mean, but he is alright now, which makes me happy. Now why is he number 2...BECAUSE IT'S HIS FAULT THAT CROATIA LOST 2-1 AGAINST FRANE!! YOU DO NOT PASS THE BALL AROUND THE 16M!!!!! He passed the ball to Thuram who eventually scored...He, as a world class player, can not do something like that! I voted Aljosa because he is my fav. and the most underated Croatian player ever!! EVER!!! A leader for Hajduk's best years!!

Suker Boban Stimac Ladic would be my 4 top players from the golden generation btw why isnt Drazen Ladic in the discussion he made some awesome saves in france98 but everyone forgot him now or something he was definitely one of the best keepers of france98 although Barthez was unstoppable that guy was like a brick wall in front of goal at frace98 I believe he was no1 keeper in the world at that time??

Ladic was our "achilles heel" he was ok but nothing like the rest of the team. It would have been awesome if we had been able to get Mark Bosnich to play for us.

Prso has great potential to be another suker if his age doesnt catch up to him..and vatreni is right ,he hasnt done enough yet.time will tell

i think suker will be our all tiime greatest player for the national team..he was just so reliable...we could alwasy count on him...eg the goal in the dieing seconds in dublin vs ireland to keep us alive .. shame we didnt qualify ..the yugo game ws just bad luck..mainly ladic's falult..it was a shame suker didnt have any luck in that game either


i think the player with the most potential would have to be PROSINECKI
he had the most talent..however he never got to show it all...i think he was beter than boban if blazevic gave him more of a go in wc98

tudor shouldnt be on the list..he hasnt done anything for croatia..he might have seemed promising as a youngster when we saw him in 98..but he just doesnt perform...eg vs france and his 2 own goals(scored one and set up the other)..disgracfull

3. Prosinecki - very talented player who could control the midfield and make the players around him better... World Youth Cup winner in '87 and considered probably the best young player in the world at the time... was voted best player in the old Yugoslavia in '90 aged 21 (not bad considering who was still playing in the league at the time)... European champion in '91 but his career stalled after that

2. Suker - excellent striker who scored wherever he went (Seville, Real Madrid, Euro & World Cups)

1. Boban - perhaps not as talented as Prosinecki or as effective as Suker, Boban was nonetheless for me the best Croatian player... great technique, passing, shooting etc., could use both feet, good dribbler, and achieved a lot throughout his career

He missed alot more than just WC 98, he was injured alot during league play through a few seasons off and on. Stopped him from doing things Suker was able to do.
