Since I live in Sweden I don´t hear much about croatian football but in my vacations in your country I´ve been getting interested in it. Supporters of Hajduk Split seems to be everywhere so I´m particurly interested in that team. Though I also would like to know how the croatian soccer is organized. Do you have an own league or do your clubs often play against ex-yugoslavian teams from other countrys?
Do you use drums? Is it common with many supporters travelling to away games? What does the chants mean that you´re singing (I can find texts but they´re in croatian)?

Hi. Yes, Croatia has had it's own league since it has gained independence. No one wants to have a joint league with Serbian teams and Croatian teams playing. The rivalries and violence is bad enough when Hajduk plays Dinamo.
It is very common for members of supporter groups to travel with their teams but money is an issue. Drums are not very common but flares definitely are.
The supporters of Hajduk usually sing songs about Dalmatia as Hajduk is considered Dalmatia's team.

I hope this helps.

Ok, are there much rivalries between for an example serbs and croats then? Since the war and all?
That seems really nice, flares are wonderful and drums are shit. :)

When does the next season start? I´ve seen one game between Dinamo and Hajduk (think it was a cup final) that was just on TV so it would be fun to come visit some time.

The feelings between Serbs and Croats resembles hatred more than rivalries and thus games against the teams and countries is avoided. There have been some matches in the past including back to back ties for the Euro2000 qualifiers and Dinamo bet Pertizan (handily) for I think it was a champion's league qual. or Eufa cup match. Our U21 team recently lost 2-1 to SiCG.

This years season begins July17 with the super cup match between Hajduk and Dinamo and the season begins a week later with the following fixtures:

Hajduk - Pula 1856, Zagreb - Inter, Međimurje - Rijeka, Kamen Ingrad - Varteks, Slaven Belupo - Osijek, Zadar - Dinamo.

I willbe in Croatia this summer and hope to catch a game.

I would guess that the Haj-Din game would be in Split since they are league champs. You buy the tix at the stadiums.
