This the review, next week I hope to make a preview and a review to the Ajax match.
Round 19 of the competition - Ajax vs ADO Den Haag 4-0
Date: 1 February 2004
Venue: Amsterdam Arena
Kick-off: 14.30 local time
Referee: Ben Haverkort
Team -
------------------------- Stekelenburg
de Jong --------- Heitinga ---------- Escude ----------- O'Brien
-------- Galasek ---------- Sneijder ----------- Maxwell
-------- de Ridder ---------- Babel ------------- Sikora
55' de Mul for Sneijder
64' Mitea for Sikora
82' Yakubu for Galasek
Player ratings -
Stekelenburg(7) - Didn't have too much to do. Made a few reasonable reflex saves, but didn't have to stretch fully for it.
De Jong(7) - Played a tidy and un-noticed game.
Heitinga(8) - Did his defensive duties well, although not much to do, and displayed excellent long-range balls to the wings.
Escude(7) - Also quiet game, hasn't played as poor as first half of the season, but he did let Castelen make himself a dangerous player from time to time.
O'Brien(7.5) - Made good rushes going forward, and did his job defensively too.
Galasek(9) - Man of the Match. Controlled midfield brilliantly, lead the team by example as he was by at least 7 years, the oldest and most experienced player on the team.
Sneijder(8) - 2 assists and a goal kind off speaks for itself. Didn't play the whole match brilliantly, but did stand out in this match. Hopefully his line of form will only go up from here.
Maxwell(7.5) - Was technically simply too good for the ADO players, didn't have to push hard, and made some good rushes forward and delivered a few decent crosses.
de Ridder(8.5) - Another huge talent from the youth teams. Played only his second match for the 1st team, and played even better than against NEC, when he was named MOTM. Showed very good technical skills, good crosses, very hard working, extremely mature mentality for a player of only 19.
Babel(8) - Played really well for a 17-yrd player who comes not from the 2nd Ajax team, but 3rd!, also called Ajax A1 in Holland. He looked strong on the ball, has good technical skills, displayed a typical killer instinct in front of goal. Came close twice to scoring on his debut.
Sikora - (7.5) Hard-working, nice-goal, good combination with Sneijder. Other than that, not as spectacular or succesfull as de Ridder on the other flank. Rightfully substituted.
