Definitely not Rafael van der Vaart. He's only had a few moments of brilliance eg. vs Feyenoord, vs Volendam with THAT pass to Sonck. Other than that, his form hasn't been too impressive. There is a rumour going around that he'll be going to Barcelona in the summer, but van der Vaart himself has said that he sees no reason to leave Ajax at this point of his career. He believes that he can still learn many things at Ajax, and I fully agree with that.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic too, has had it from flash moments of heroics. His goal against Celta is an example. Zlatan is very selfish on the ball, always tries to go for personal glory instead of passing it to a team player who is in a better scoring position, he is lazy because he let's Sonck do all the hard work, let's Sonck come to the ball, Zlatan is the perfect example of an opportunist, and if the other 10 players in the team worked their asses off for 90 minutes and he's not even broken into a sweat yet, then he couldn't care less. That he is technically exceptional is a fact, but his mentality is rather disgusting. I think an award for best player or such should only be given to players who show excellence in both fields, and shouldn't be just about the fancy footwork.
Tomas Galasek has definitely been Ajax's most important player in the first half of the season. Ajax looked on course to qualify for the 2nd round of the Champions League and had played until then a series of good matches, then Galasek became injured. He couldn't play anymore, and everything went downhill for Ajax. They first lost to Club Brugge in the Champions League, which meant they were out of the competition. A short week later they went out of the Dutch Cup by losing AT HOME! to NAC Breda 1-0, and as icing on the cake, they lost the last league match before the winterbreak 2-0 away to FC Twente. All this without one key man - Tomas Galasek.
Galasek has demonstrated and proved to be the best ball winner, the Makalele, Gatusso, Davids, if you like of Ajax. He has a never give up attitude, which is frequently missed by players such as van der Vaart and Sneijder, he can give deadly through balls - he has already set-up Sonck with a few goals this season.. Galasek is the complete player both defensively and offesively, the only weakpoint I can think of is that he somtimes is too hard or enthusiastic in his tackling, which makes him one of the most cautioned players in the Ajax team. But Galasek's play has earned him respect from teammates and opponents alike, something that perhaps can't be said of a similar type of player - Roy Keane.

I'm personally not a fan of players who don't work 120% as a team player, and who are ver egoistic, no matter how brilliant technically you might happen to be.

Thats Heitinga
Zarak

Yes, Heitinga is a hard-worker indeed, but in my mind, Galasek is simply the engine of Ajax they can't do without.

Hey Zarak
What do you think of Daniel de Ridder??
I think in potential he can become the best player Ajax has.
At his age he's really superb!
And I also agree that Thomas Galasek is fantastic!

Its a good thing he went to juve. unless your an ajax fan.

I have mixed feelings. He always mixed moments of brilliance, such as against NAC, with missing easy-sitters in front of open goal, or trying to outplay the whole defence, and missing miserably. He scored some of the best goals seen in Holland over the past few years, but no other striker probably squandered as much chances as he did too.
He's good for 5-6 goals in the Champions League, and without him, Ajax have lost some firepower up front, considerable, is debatable. However, Ajax went out in the first round last season, WITH Ibrahimovic, so it makes future predictions rather difficult. The defence is still the biggest worry though. There we are supposed to have enough firepower, or manpower, but some defenders haven't been up to it lately.

2 years ago without a doubt, but not anymore. His form is pretty poor, in fact, at the moment there isn't really a Ajax players that stands out really.

Sneijder!
He got a wicked left foot!
Zarak

Though by nature he is right-footed!
But it's true, he can shoot very well with both feet. Kinda reminds me of Pavel Nedved.

ya its between Van der Vaart and Sneijder. De Jong is also very good
Zarak

Steven Pienaar is also very talented. And keeper Maarten Stekelenburg. But keepers usually don't get recognised so much. Neither do defensive midfielders like Tomas Galasek. Without a doubt, Ajax most important player.

Heitinga, Sneijder, Maxwell, Babel.
van der Vaart is not consistent. He wants to be a pure number 10, like Diego Maradonna. But Sneijder is far better on that position. Qual. match for Portugal 2004 againts Scotland for instance, brilliant. Sneijder is more allround.
Heitinga. A defender that can play as defensive midfielder. Strong, fast, technique and he can KICK ASS.
Maxwell, the left wing back you want to have.
Babel, F*cking young, fast, and a killer.
As for de Jong, he needs to play more. And Galasek, he is important, but not a key player. Obodai or Heitinga can replace him anytime. Stekelenburg will become the next van der Sar, he just needs time.
Hi guys
I havent been able to follow how Charisteas is doing?
Do people like him? does he start? has he helped? whats ur views??

Van De Vaart is a good player, but i think Schneider might just edge him out.
But they are on par with skill, van de vaart wants it more, but schneider has more of a natural talent.

Though by nature he is right-footed!
But it's true, he can shoot very well with both feet. Kinda reminds me of Pavel Nedved. He will be much better than Pavel eventually AFC AJAX just need to extend his contract because the best players always go away for free.
