its very tough to say who will win the Copa america ......Brasil and Argentina are always going to be favorites.....as far as Peru is concerned it will be hard for them to win even if they are hosting the tournament.....Peru havent done much in international competitions in the last 20 years so it will be tough........i think if Peru finishes 3rd it will be a good accomplishment for them.....but for sure that i wil be going to Peru next summer to see the games.but who knows maybe Peru will be champs at the end

I think Peru has an exellent chance to win. Ronaldo listed them as one of his favorites to win with Argentina and Brazil. But unlike Argentina and Brazil Peru will have all the players that would start a World Cup match while Argentina and Brazil's top players will be taking vacations. Peru with Solano, Pizzora and Mendoza playing will have a real shot at this thing. After the friendly match with Argentina on the 30th we should get a really good look at how well the home team will be able to do.

I think I have to agree with Chileno. :p A few teams are sending their 2nd stringers while some are using their first team but I guess a lot of surprise results and upsets will happen as young fresh faces tend to show their true caliber and ability while given the chance to prove themselves as it is the only way for them to repay the coach trust in them.As usual in every international tournament,a few young players will rise given the oportunity just like what EURO 2004 has shown us young rising superstar to be:Eng-Whayne Rooney,Hol-Roben Arjen,Por-Christiano Ronaldo & Helder Postiga and a few others which their names I could not recalled.
What is so interesting regarding Copa 2004 is,there is no true measument to their seedings as W/C 2006 Qf does not count due to different sets of players as a lot of superstars have had been left out by their national coach for them to recuperate after a heavy and taxing season in Europe's top leagues and also Copa clash with W/C Qf.
It is sad to say that alot of S/America teams treat Copa as a side dish,not as important in value as W/C Qf.I guess being the champion of COPA 2004 doesnt bring the pride and glory to the nations involved anymore with the exception of the host country.

I was in now way dismissing the second teams, I think they will do great, I just thing its yet another advantage to the home team. We already pulled of a tie against the Brazilian A team in quali game. If Peru plays its top game I think we have a good shot at beating any of the teams in this tournament.

Im from Argentina.....and I have to tell you that I was very impressed with the Chile Team.
Wow, they really played very smart, covering all angles of the field and not allowing Brasil to play.

Thanx pisulino, yep, I like this team also. This new generacion has more balls than the last one, I can't remember a game were Chile contested the midfield one on one with big teams. This same generation got a 2-2 draw with Argentina in the preolimpics remember? We could have won that game cause, much like the recent Brazil game, we also missed a penalty that time. :dead:

The only problem I see with these kids is the lack of a Salas/Zamorano offensive. They have decent defense, a great and fast midfield but the strikers still disapoint me. "Chamagol" may do well against mexican league defenders but in international games you need more than that, oh well, I hope this Cup serves them for experience and training.

As for Argentina I honestly don't see any rivals for them on this Cup exept themselves. Many ignorants say Brazil because of history, but this generation is not as good as that of the Argentinians, we almost beat them!, besides you guys are going almost with full squad. However, you never know with the argentinian side lately, they may look like an efficient goaling machine one day and then next they are a disorganized mass of attacking players that loose to panic of not converting. The Korea/Japan sindrome is still there and may play you a bad move on the last stages of the cup.

i hope i'll get good welcome from u guys , i watched URU vs ARG today and all past games as well ; it seems all of us are worry about MEX soccer evolution and i am too , look like is the next soccer potence to add to the traditional 'TRIO' (uruguay argentina brasil) and we put it there !!!! they learn quick with a great spirit of triunph , in my opinion we should not diminish neither insult they pride , we should start getting better coaches and i am saying this in regard to URU team and people , and better players .

I remeber the last world cup. Chile qualified (i think one spot ove Peru, they may have tied and Chile made it on goals) I can't remember how it went but the important thing was for the rest of the cup I was Chile fan and a fan for all the teams of South America.
