Opinion about Greek League...

Its my 1st post and I'd like to give you my opinion about Greek League 2003-2004

Olympiakos...
I think Olympiakos will fight for 1-2 position. Its very strong In the middle (many choices for Oleg Protasov coach). I think that has problems mainly in attack......bought Polish striker Kuzba ...but lost Alexandris and Oforiquye.....

I dont know about the Defence ......Its a (?) . Vallas is a good Defender but we dont know what he would do in a Champions team like Olympiakos.


Panthinaikos......
Panathinaikos bought 9 new players.....but lost 4 significant players like Karagounis (Inter Milan) and Lyberopoylos (Aek Athens).
Has a new Coach (Izak Schum ) .... I think it will be difficult to make a competitive team for the title so quickly...... I think that will fight for 2-3 position.


Aek Athens....
Aek took 2 very important players like (Giannakis Okkas & N.Liberopoulos) that replaced Nikolaidis (Atletico Madrid) .
If Aek wont have economical problems I think will shine in this championship. But it will be very difficult to manage that.
Its very important for Aek to pass the qualification round of Champions League (with Grasshoppers ) . Without economical Problems I guess , 1-2 position.!


Paok Thessaloniki
Paok lost many great players and now count on young players. If Paok dont loose points in this Strong home ground (Toumba) and Anastasiadis (coach ) manage to make a good team with young and older players then.......Maybe 4-6 position will be great for Paok...Its a difficult year ......


Panionios
A very organised team . This year plays in Uefa cup and bought many new players.Has a great coach (Bubenko ) but not the experience to stay in a high class. If this team manage to control Uefa cup and Greek championship program maybe will have route in this year. Bubenko (coach ) is the significant factor for this team. I think 3-6 position is worth for this team.

Aris Thessaloniki....

Aris has many economical problems. This team managed to take the certificate to play in Greek League 2003-2004 the last moment!
Aris lost the most important players of the last season that guided him in the final of the Greek Cup 2003. Aris its a big (?) . I think that the most important for this team is to overcome the economical problems and stay in a competitive position. Prediction 7-10 postition!


Iraklis Thessaloniki...

Maybe the surprise of this year. Iraklis took 2-3 key players.Nikos Machlas from (Ajax) Kuharski (Legia Warsow) , Martin Miechel (stayed) are great players. This team has wealthy economics , organisation and a "wise" coach. The disadvantage of this team is that dont have the "Air" of the champions. Prediction 3-6 position!


Ofi Crete....

Ofi is organised again. After 2-3 years that was in the middle of the championship , this year is looking for the way to European cups. This team uses young players mostly but this year has a great coach (Skazni) and some experienced players to help him to the way to Uefa Cup. Prediction 5-8 position.


Skoda Xanthi....

Xanthi is a wealthy team. Has a great president and organised team.This year bought many players from Chile!!! Had some great friendly games and look in a good condition.After a dissapointing last year, 2003-2004 seems to be a year for returning to European cups (2001-2002 played with Lazio!). Prediction 6-9 position.


Egaleo.....

A team based in young players. Has a Great Coach with philosophy and strategy. Most of the players stayed this year and made 2-3 transfers. I think that this team wont have problems to stay in the category . Prediction 8-11 position.


Akratitos....

Akratitios is a team from Athens. This years transfers based on experienced players . Basic aim to stay in the category.Advantage : Τhe experience of the coach . Disadvantage : Very weak in away matches!
Prediction : 11-14 position


Proodeytiki ......

A defence based team. A team that plays hard with stamina features.This year is difficult.Proodeytiki losts many great players and didnt replaced them.Not many chances to stay in the category....
Prediction : 13-16 position


Kalithea......

Kalithea managed to stay in the premier category last year. This year is most experienced. This team "hits" the games with the weaker opponents.If Kalithea manage to win these games maybe will have luck to stay in the category again.
Prediction 12-15 position


Ionikos ........

A team that changes 11-15 players every year!!!!! So its difficult to have a steady situation. This year took experienced players mostly from Greece. I think this team will have better route this year but has a disadvantage.Coach and former player (Claevic) is not experienced.
Prediction 11-14 position


Chalkidona....

Chalkidona managed to promote in this category for the 1st time! Its not experienced but has a wealthy economic president. Experienced coach and many good players their advantage.Disadvantage : 1st time in premier category.
Prediction : 11-14 position


Paniliakos......

Just promoted last year.Based on young players and its an organised team. Many players from Paniliakos transfer to bigger teams. Maybe the most weak team of the category. If the young players give it all will stay in the category.
Prediction 13-16 position..





Ok these were my predictions.! I hope I helped you if you bet on Greek teams...or you are interested in this less-important Champiopnship.....

great post by The_player, good to see your opinion on the lesser known teams of the league. I am very confident of a succesfull year for Aek. We have a lot of depth up front and have replaced Demis wisely. Our defence is our weakness but Olympiakos struggles in that area as well. Panathinaikos lost too many important players but still have a preety good side, not good enough to win the league though. The usual suspects will battle for the league again but i am confident this is the year Olympiakos hold on the league is broken

Don;t forget the fact for AEK that the team will play in N.Smurnh and not in Goumas stadium. This is a big disadvantage for AEK and we have to take it under consideration as well.
