Today in school, I heard from a Man Utd fan that a newspaper < Streats > in Singapore said that Lazio are racists. They claimed that during the Chelsea game, we booed Hasselbaink and several other black players. I only know that we booed Colonese and Liverani for refusing the salary cap and not all the black players. Does anyone know what exactly happen? The most suspicious is that no other websites I have ever seen reported that the Curva Nord booed Hasselbaink, it all doesn't fit, you guys get what I mean?

I know Singapore are very influenced by what happens in England. You can see the entire newspaper filled with nothing by English Market, (e.g Tottenham signs Postiga, Ferguson: '' We don't want Duff '', Chelsea offeres 70m for Henry....etc), it never ends, but we have nothing about Italian football. And ever since Beckham left for Real Madrid, we have nothing but English market everyday. From this alone you can sense the hostility Singapore has towards Italian Football.

I hope to get some truth in this, what is wrong with Singapore anyway? Why can't they treat every European league equally, must they discriminate Italian football in this way? This is totally nonsense, once I get the truth, trust me I will give them a piece of my mind.

i saw the game, i heard the fans. so saying that some of our fans booed at the black players on the pitch would be a lie from me! but i am not saying we have racist fans, because i think we dont, weve just dug oursleves into the bad habbit of choosing this as a perfect way to disturb some pleyers on the pitch. we boo atthem to getthem off the game as thats is smething that will bother them! butthis is a bad habbit something thatone way or the otherwe should fnd an end too! and the best way i belive is to call 7 or 8 players that are extremely important to the aquad and go talk to the fans! i believe we shuld take deki, stam lopez, favalli peruzzi mihajlovic cesar and liverani! and let them carry something before a mtach or something telling the fans to behave toward the boos against black players!

I agree Juan. But was there any actual booing at Hasselbaink or at the rest of the other Chelsea Black players? I know we boo the other team's players to get them to lose concentration and stuff like that, but this is absurb, Lazio getting blamed for being a racists and what makes me so angry is that today is Racial Harmony Day in Singapore and yet such an issue has been brought up. This is a problem which must be addressed by several important players just like what Juan said. Players who are important to the club, Mancio should also talk to the fans as well, because they hold him in such high esteem and they will no doubt be willing to listen to him.

yes haselbank was booed but itt was only him!

I hate it when they say that Lazio fans are racists! I'm sure that some are, but it is a minority. So why the won't they ever say "a group of Lazio fans"? Because that it is, a group! And like Juan said they aren't necessarily racists either because they only boo the opponents, they have just found the perfect way to distract the other team. But something should be done about the problem coz it's giving us all a bad reputation!

this problem can de solved with facility. as i said the board should ask the players and mancio in a press conference to sned a message to all the fans

I heard that out of the 30,000/40,000 of people that regularly go to Lazio's home matches, roughly 5,000 are the culprits of racism, and that when those 5,000 get started with their anti-black chants, soon the whole stadium starts to chant with them. Hopefully this is not true, but I'd like to know your opinions about it.

Also, I agree with the idea of having a press conference with the manager, and the more important players, to not ask but TELL the fans to start behaving or there will be consequences (ie, 20 points get knocked of from Lazio in the Serie A, etc).

Another thing that could work is if we buy a few black players who have loads of charisma/score loads of goals so the fans start to like them.
What do you guys think?

Cheers, hope I enjoy my time here at the boards, they seem quite a nice place.

Let me guess where you've heard that...from the english media. And it is very well known that the english reporters always want to make us laziali the worst racists in the football world. I don't know where that comes from but I think they just want to but a name and face to the problem or something. But the say that the whole stadium would chant racist chants...that is just too much! I've never seen that happen!
So that should definitely not stop you from supporting Lazio, because the club itself is not racist. And about the black players, didn't we just get Dabo?
But anyways welcome to the board! I hope to see you around often. :)

One thing you guys have to understand is that the club has always had ties to right-wing groups, some of Mussolini's brownshirts were recruited from celesti fans & the neo-fascist Movimento Sociale Italiano drew much support from the Curva Nord during the 70's & 80's (but also from Curva Sud as well, the idea that roma is left-wing is a myth essentially). So historically Lazio is associated with these kind of anti-foreigner & immigrant policies. That is certainly not to say that we all deserve to be stereotyped as racist fans, but until the core of the Irriducibili & others do not take the lead in eradicating the monkey chants, the reputation will remain to taint all Laziali unfortunately.

we have liverani we have dabo now, manfredini is at tjhe club if im not wrong!

kd_7, dont let ur skin color stop u from annything, dont let it stop u from supporting lazio, its as good as it gets to be a laziale. we dont live on glory and full of success but we are the team that gives it all in matches we play with the heart! once ur a laziale, ur always a laziale no matter how deep the club falls!

romansky, great post man. but dont make it look like its an almost impossible task to achieve, this can be stopped but it will take the contribution from the board members, staff players and us the fans! and it is importnat we clean our name, and erase these stains and the reputation lazio fans in general have!

mariel thats what media does when it somes to these sort of problems, they generealize and that is why now not only a small group of supporters are being callled racist, but the club itself!

nice to be back around here, to ruffle up some feathers once in a while!

well... to be honest, i once heard a lazio fan refer to his team as "Nazio" and say a few things here and there.... traditionally, it must be granted, that lazio has had very few dark skinned players, and even less of them getting playing time (liverani has not been consistent on the starting 11). Hopefully with Dabo this will change, unless the same goddamn racists keep up their actions. Racism must be eradicated from football, but it is very difficult in a world full of ignorance and hatred like ours.

Good luck removing those idiot racists, though i doubt it, because they seem to be your most faithful fans, "true to their roots", no?
racist pigs :smallpig:

Let's kick racism out of football!

MarieL

Only one I've heard using the term "Nazio" is your dear co-moderator from the roma forum downstairs, Popa.
But I do agree about the last sentence.

I used to think it was the club, I can now see that it wasn't, but it took me some time.

I agree with everything you have said, and have decided to revert back to being a Laziale... that is, if you guys want me back?

What do you say?

Yeah, you had better be okay because you will be feeling so much worse when Lazio kick your ass in the Rome Derby.

MarieL
08-02-2003, 06:46 AM
Popa is your real name Jose? I mean that's just soooo spanish! Juan and Jose...those are like the 2 most spanish names a person can think of! :D

PopA
08-03-2003, 01:22 AM
well whaddya want paula?:D it's a spanish speaking country!

and darran.... honestly, lazio win the derby? i don't see it happening, we'll try to extend our undefeated streak to 4 seasons now

i wonder who the hell sensi meant when he said he planned on signing a "young french striker"

do you think it might be djibril cisse?

PopA
08-03-2003, 01:23 AM
by the way paula, your name doesn't sound finnish!

shouldn't it be something that rhymes with petri o jari :D ?

or is that just the translation into english?

MarieL
08-03-2003, 06:50 AM
Excuse me but Petri and Jari are male names, pretty ugly ones if I may add. My real name is Paula Helena, and that's very much a finnish name. Just a bit international finnish name which is why I love it! :D

And you can just dream about the 4th season!

Aaron
08-03-2003, 08:08 AM
Yeah Roma is rated some what 4/10 for this season compared to lazio at 7/10?

Also i couldn't see Roma signing Cisse as they could no way afford him, Auxerre want something over 20 Million Euro for him.

PopA
08-03-2003, 07:26 PM
now, aaron... the ratings by so called "experts" don't matter - football is a game of results, and you must accept that in the derbies of the last three seasons, roma have not lost ( i recall you laziales predicting a revenge for the 5 - 1 demolition of 01/02)... i say we go for 4 in a row

paula helena, that's a nice name, but it still doesn't sound so finnish to me, as you say, it's very international! you see those names over here!

Jose Ricardo Lopez is my full name, truly as spanish as it gets

Darran
08-04-2003, 02:36 AM
Roma may have won the last few derbies but not without controversies, if they had no help from the referees in which Farina somehow disallowed Corradi's goal when there was absolutely no offside, we would have won you, buts its over, no use thinking about it.

Aaron
08-04-2003, 02:41 AM
Pfft, Who cares. At least we are going to be in CL this season and have easily the best midfield in the serie a now. It will be a very interesting Derby this season and boy if some of our new arrivals step up and some of our former players are re-juvenated well we are going to be very hard to beat once again this season. Remember Lazio only lost around 2 or 3 games last season which is great for a so called shit team we where rated last season! So look roma!

Darran
08-04-2003, 02:46 AM
Agreed, we only lost 3 games and it was to Chievo, Reggina and Parma. It is a great achievement and I am sure if Mendieta is rejuvenated and Zauri, Dabo and Albertini can play the way they did before coming to Lazio, it would be very difficult for us to lose.

PopA
08-04-2003, 04:02 AM
well you lost more than 3, number 4 at least was courtesy of emerson and cassano!

i don't know about having strong midfields, because so do we! we're also pretty tight at the back, as long as chivu adjusts

matchday 9........

MarieL
08-04-2003, 07:07 AM
Hey, I understand most of what you say! Looks like studying spanish is finally paying off... :D
Btw we didn't lose to you in the serie a.

Aaron
08-04-2003, 12:37 PM
Yah, We only drew with you on both occasions in Serie A!

PopA
08-04-2003, 03:57 PM
i didn't say you lost in serie a, but darran said you only lost 3 times, and i corrected him!

of course you lost the uefa cup games, but i'm not keeping count

and paula, you understood because i spoke spanish, not dominican! ask juan, not even all spanish speakers understand it :dead:

Darran
08-04-2003, 04:00 PM
I said we lost 3 times in the Serie A, excluding the Coppa Italia and UEFA Cup. If we add everything, we would have lost 6 times at most. Can Rioma beat that? Man, Rioma should not even enter Europe with the performances they produced last season.

PopA
08-04-2003, 04:02 PM
ahh but we did, that's the difference!

and we'll be challenging for the scuddetto this season!

MarieL
08-05-2003, 07:41 AM
That's just plain funny! :D

Darran
08-05-2003, 08:03 AM
Yes, I agree. You don't even have a proper target man to score, who was your top scorer last season? He was a midfielder, Totti is his name. That's just so lame, you think you can win the Scudetto without having a renowned striker in your team?

valdanito_10
08-06-2003, 02:49 AM
and u just lost montella for 3 months!

its surpirsing how this thread turned around to a totally differnet topic1

Darran
08-07-2003, 07:40 AM
Without Montella, Roma do not have any decent finisher, I guess things are just going to get from bad to worse for Roma. :D They deserve it!

PopA
08-08-2003, 11:37 PM
well, do you have any real strikers of top class amongst your ranks? corradi? crespo.....oh wait my bad:D

ANTONIO CASSANO.... now that's gold

juan what's going on man? just got back from the beach, get online, need to talk to you

Darran
08-09-2003, 02:57 AM
Cassano is gold but he has an attitude, so what's the use? You don't have a striker with a willingness to admit his mistakes. Corradi? He is a marksmen, the 2nd striker behind Vieri, if that is not a target striker to you, I don't know what is.

valdanito_10
08-09-2003, 03:45 AM
cassano? i hope thats a joke popa! we are talking about strikers! taget men! coarradi, athats as good as it gets for us! and as good as we need!

cassano is good, but not gold! he needs tomature and grow out of that fantasy he has of him being the best

PopA
08-09-2003, 04:47 PM
how old is corradi? 28 or 29 right? well, he's spent several seasons playing professional, at least 8 i'd say!

cassano is a diamond in the rough, and he's in the process of maturing and developing into a world class player, like Totti has

players take TIME and EXPERIENCE to improve their game - you can't say crespo was world class when he was playing at river!

MarieL
08-10-2003, 06:43 AM
Well Cassano has every potential to be world class if he could just stop thinking that every other player on the pitch is below him. But I know that the guy shares Totti's IQ, so...

PopA
08-10-2003, 05:35 PM
well, he might have a point, except for totti

you must admit it, you gotta respect totti a bit, he carries the team like a true captain, like nesta did, and that's why i respected him

valdanito_10
08-10-2003, 09:39 PM
well when crespo was at river, he was top scorer  not only of his team but pichichi of primera, when he moved to parma he kept on scoring and scoring! and basically thats all he does, SCORE, that his job

PopA
08-11-2003, 05:20 AM
ahhh, but he wasn't the finished product!

you obviated that point!

so you're stating crespo was better then than now? are you willing to bet 18 kamikazes on that?:D
