Although I don't agree with the title of the thread I do believe that Mexico is over-rated by FIFA and most Mexican fans do not accept that they don't belong to the world elite and regional teams such as the USA and Costa Rica caught up with them.

Personally I believe that Mexican football did not evolve past the 60's and it is mainly because they have a competitive domestic league so most of their players are not exposed to the ultimate in football which is played in Europe, to make matters worse they import players basically from South America who by style accomodate to the ancient Mexican way where a team heats the ball forever before daring to try a shot (a lot of midfield passes)

As for World Cups I can name 5 outstanding negative records that they have written in the History Book and I can not find a positive one:

1) Highest number of matches lost (after regular time and extra time): 20
2) Worst goal difference: -36
3) Goalkeeper with more goals conceeded: 25 Antonio Carbajal
4) The first own goal was shot by Manuel Rosas (Mexico) during a game against Chile in 1930
5) The first hat-trick in World Cup history was allowed by Mexico in 1930 shot by Guillermo Stábile (Argentina)

Yes its true, i think that Mexico is not better than England or some other countries behind them in the world ranking. Another thing ahhaha, well Mexico is one of the countries with the most world cups with 13, only argentina italy germany and brazil have more. And yes its true mexico started significantly improving only after 1986, maybe in 1970 but not that much. so thats why they might have a lot of matches lost, same with the goal difference.
Also antonio carbajal is the player with most world cup participations with 5, along with lothar mathaus,(im not sure its spelled that way) that means he played 15 games, thats an average of almost 2 (well 1.66) goals per game, which really sucks but when mentioning 25 goals against it sounds much worse.

I know alot of countries r doing it but most of those guys can call themselves French, German etc if they wanted to, but these guys that are gonna play in Mexico have no history/background/heritage from mexico which was the point i was tryin to make. I'm sure giovanny dos santos guy could play for brazil if he wanted to(thats if they would let him) yet he was born in Mexico. dude yes its true some of them have the origin of the country theyre playing in, about giovanni dos santos, yes he could play in brazil, and he still can, the only time u cant play with ur country of origin is when u have played with the A team of another country, and wtf giovanni has many times expressed that he feels hes from mexico rather from brazil, he identifies himself more as a mexican and also says that even if hes good enough for brazil he still prefers mexico. I hope at the end Zinha does not go to the world cup. Lavolpe likes him a lot so only an injury will stop lavolpe from calling zinha. I prefer to see Luis Perez in that position. Zinha has been playing terrible game after game... I mean, if we are going to have a player that was not born in mexico at least that player should be really good. Even Pardo can play in that position.

Last I checked, they haven't won a Copa Libertadores, Copa America or World Cup. The only reason they have a high ranking in Fifa is becuase they play in the freaking Concacaf. You can put Iraq in that division and they would qualify every time too. If they are so good why is it that their players always choke when they leave the country to play in Europe or in South America. I'll even give you examples; Luis Fernandez didn't do crap in Boca, Quaotemoc (however you spell his name) Blanco didn't do carp in Spain, Borgetti can't even get on the field. The only one doing halfway decent is Rafa Marquez. Their league is mediocre. It's the most boring league to watch.
