According to sources close to SoccerAge.com, Claudio Lopez (http://www.soccerage.com/en/04/10309.html) could be set to stay at Lazio (http://www.soccerage.com/en/02/00004.html). The negotiations with Valencia (http://www.soccerage.com/en/02/00491.html)are said to have come to an abrupt halt. The Spanish club now have Mallorca (http://www.soccerage.com/en/02/02097.html)'s Samuel Eto'o in their sights. And with the Biancocelesti's financial situation improving, the Argentine may be happy to remain in Rome and continue to pick up his wages of approximately three million euros per season.
Following this, I doubt we can sign Mutu, but I for 1 would be glad that he is staying, he was a crucial part of our team last season, and the only route to success is not to sell the club's most important players and we have done that. We did not sell any of our top players yet, Corradi, Stankovic, Stam, Fiore, Lopez are all staying.

We may not get Mutu but at least we did not let any of our stars leave, this means that we have exactly the same squad but we will improve.

Lopez is definitely returning to Valencia for only 6m euros, that makes me fume so much. How could he be only worth 6m euros? He was worth at least 18m euros when Man Utd bidded for him way back in the season. I can't believe it, I just want to see who Mancini will replace Lopez with, I sure hope it is Adrian Mutu, he said he will only leave Parma for Barca but I hope he will reconsider his decision and give Lazio a chance to develop him.

I didn't believe for a second that he would stay. Now we just have to get a striker! But at least Corradi is staying and we can be happy about that.

nothing is finalized, lopez is still with therest of the group, and he said he has not reached any agreement, and lazio board said they are intalks, nothing to be annonced until there are signatures on contrcats, so to me lopez is a lazio player and will play with us! we need one more striker though, 4 is just not enough

Lopez according to latest reports has agreed to the salary cap in Baraldi's plan. I think he has finally realised that a salary cap is the only way to cut costs in the current market. I am so happy for him and Lazio, we have the ever dangerous El Piojo with us next season again.

The fact that he is probably going to start alongside Corradi in the Chelsea match definitely proves that he would be staying at Lazio

Well then there's a big chance of him staying. Lets hope so or we will soon run out of argentine players!
