It was reported on Sunday that Shearer was considereing coming out of International retirement. And that he still thinks he can do a job for England. It has since been reported that he wants to stay at the Toon and not come out of retirement. I actually think Shearer is thinking about it and would play if Sven gave him a call. What do guys think? Should Shearer come back and play for England?

I think he should. He so hot on form at the moment and is probably in the best shape of his career. He retired under the dark cloud of our abysmal Euro 2000 campaign and I bet he would love to kickstart our qualification for the Euro 2004 champs and maybe even help us win it (anything is possible). He only quit because of long term injury problems and he is over them now.

Even if he only plays a few important matches (the ones against Turkey for example), he will be a major asset. when it comes to a strike force we have: Owen, Heskey, Smith, Vassell, Beattie and Rooney. Out of those, only Owen is world class. Although Smith has the ability he is not the finnished article yet and Rooney has a long way to go (he's amazing and he will get there).

Just imagine the fear a Owen/Shearer partnership would strike in the hearts of defenders!

So get Shearer wearing The Three Lions!
We need him!

Ideal line up:
-------Owen ---------- Shearer-----

---------------Scholes----------------

-------Barry--Gerrard--Beckham-----

A.Cole -- Campbell -- Ferdinand -- Mills

-----------------Seamo--------------------

And some Rockets to shove up their arses!

no return to the dark days of shearer perleeease
once Sven realises the Emile Ivanhoe can't hold up longballs we might resort to...
PASSING IT
Shearer was a great player for England but he can't push and pull his way through international football. He's managed to play both prem and some cl (got himself a midCL rest by elbowing Cannavaro) was becos he rested on int weekends!

Shearer should stayed retired. While you are at it, can you get David Seaman out as well

It would be brilliant had Shearer come out of retirement because along with Owen he's the best English striker at the moment, however he's said no so its best to look to the future.

great post JD, and perfectly put, the only reason Shearer is playing so well for Newcastle is that he doesn't play for England anymore.

And besides, Owen and Shearer CAN'T PLAY TOGETHER, this has been proven time and time again.Owen isn't Bellamy, he won't do the running of two men and then give the ball to Shearer anywhere in the vacinity of the 18 yard box, so one of them would have to be left out, and if you leave out Owen to play a 32 year old who'll only play for a year or two more you risk doing long term damage to Owen's(and England's)long term future.
