Greetings to all Ajax fans from Sarajevo,
I have a question for you. Last night I watched the game against Valencia and I saw a huge Israeli flag at one of your stands. Even at some matches before I saw some small ones and I thought it was just a small group of your supporters, but after last night's huge flag I realized that most of you guys support that option. Can someone explain to me why is that, do you have many Jews among you, or is that their lobby, or what is the deal there??? Thanks in advance for your answers.

Ajax was founded by Jews. Our club president is Jewish.

The official position by chairman Michael van Praag(sp?) is that "Ajax is not a Jewish club" however, many F-Side (and Vak-410) supporters have Jewish pins on their clothes or other symbols of Israel. Most supporters who do this aren't Jewish, but it is done in a response to the other Eredivisie clubs(such as Feyenoord and FC Utrecht) who have insulted Ajax for being a Jewish club, much like Tottenham Hotspur in England. Chants such as "Hamas, Hamas, Jews to the gas" inspired this relationship between Ajax, the fans, and Israel. For example, when Ajax played Maccabi Haifa at Haifa in the UEFA Cup, the Israeli FA called the match a "Jewish derby" and many F-Side fans were treated as VIPs.:)
Hope this helps!
Hup Ajax!

The people who founded Ajax were Jewish too, and ofcourse Michael van Praag as AFC Ajax mentioned.
Also Ajax is from Amsterdam where a lot of Jewish people used too live and probably still do. So partly for the roots, partly cause of reaction too other fans.
But most fans aren`t actually Jewish ofcourse.
