This is a crucial match for us, we need to win this game at home in order to ease our qualification later in the 2nd leg when we have to travel to Turkey. And I don't like to see us travel there having to get a win. That place just gives me the creeps, remember the Leeds and Galatasaraay incident, a fan died. I don't want any Laziale to die there. As for the line up, I fancy that it would be pretty strong although not all the first team players will play. Lazio will now start to prepare the clash against Besiktas in the UEFA Cup. Many changes are expected in the line-up, for the match against the Turkish side.

Besiktas are leading the Turkish league and after 22 rounds they still haven't lost in the domestic competition.

Although there still are many days to the match, a possible Lazio line-up could look like this.

Marchegiani; Oddo, Negro, Couto, Pancaro; Lazetic, Stankovic, Simeone, Cesar; Chiesa, Lopez (Inzaghi)

I don't think Mancini will take this game lightly and will field a pretty strong line up. The problem is Stam and Mihajlovic, they are very likely to miss the match although Mancini is going to risk one of them and I hope its Stam because he adds a more defensive outlook to the team.

In Fact , Not really alot of team can or could win in Turkey . the last few season only Barcelona & liverpool had win there the rest were mostly thrash or buried there . lucky one could only take a point off but i mean really LUCKY one . Those Turkey Fans beat drum which sound like thunder and away Team usually play in a kind of scare situation. So we must take advantage of the 1`st leg and can counter back in the 2nd . i`m not saying tat we are scare of them or what but it jus a kind of tatic we should use as we are almost there ! It a kind of do or death situation for us cos we had go all the way here and jus a few matches away from a silverware , or else all the things we had done previously had all gone down the drain .hope that ss lazio can really give us laziali something to show off tis season!

If any team in Europe can win away in Turkey it is Lazio, we are the strongest road team in UEFA just now. But I agree it will be difficult to pass the quarterfinals, Mancio has the unenviable decision to set the priority for i celesti, is the UEFA Cup this year or Champions League next year more important? I still agree the best XI needs to start in the first leg so we don't fall behind again.

Im a Fenerbahce fan from Turkey and so just a passive observer here, but this post caught my eye, on the whole everything should go smoothely, but Besiktas fans can be known for their volatility, Here's some info for travelling fans:

Ive been there on many occasions for our derby, and although this is still a little different from visiting foreign fans, there are 2 main "ultra" groups to watch out for, firstly "Carsi'nin Cocuklari" which means the "Market Children", Besiktas has a very famous old market, It's down the road from the stadium, past the Dolmabachce palace, this group have their own bar down there, which you should avoid, Besiktas fans are known for their hard drinking.
one of their chants is roughly translated "We drink, We F***, We Do Drugs, We are Besiktas" - "Ickiyi Iceriz, Uyusturucuyu Cekeriz...."

The other is the Academy, which is a lesser known one, they seem to be the more "chilled out" of the 2.

But unless they are provoked, which is what seems to be the case with the Leeds fans a few years ago, Turkish fans on the whole dont cause too much trouble.

But you can be sure that it will be a lot more intimdating than anything your team would have witnessed in the last few years, this a historic game for Besiktas.

If you need info on any other teams and fan groups in Turkey please let me know.

We defenitely shouldn't underestimate Besiktas. I even think that Lazio and Besiktas are the strongest teams in the UEFA-Cup at this moment!!!
But I think that Mancini will save the most important first team players, except Stankovic (he's suspended for Empoli).

I would be just as scared to be a Turk at Olimpico or Leeds' Elland Road ground, than a Laziale in Istanbul. The Irriducibili & Leeds supporters both have a reputation of targeting "brown" people, it must be admitted.

I don't want to talk about murders and violence in Turkiye or racism and violence in Lazio's part, I just wanna say that there is no way Lazio are going to the next round, yeah at home you might sneak a 1-0 win no more if and only if you are lucky. Then at home Besiktas will destroy with their offensive power, has happened in almost every game Besiktas has played so far, check the Last two vs Dynamo Kiev and Slavia Prague. Lazio won't be able to sneak by a team like Besiktas like they have been doing this whole time. Yes Lazio might be the toughest opponent for Besiktas so far but you are very similar to Dynamo Kiev and in the second game Kiev were torn to shreds and collapsed under the intense offensive pressure. Ilhan Mansiz will play both games many people fail to realize how important of a player he is, you will probably see him paired up with Ahmet Dursun (lethal duo) with Pancu who is having a career year right behind them. Besiktas defense and as of late the goalie have been weak, but still Besiktas will go through.
