this is a one way ride its a win or win! or its a win and if they loose they might aswell just stay there!

mancio is set to play the 1st team, it is likely to see facesof lopez chiesa outfront, deki, fiore along with 2 others on the mid! peruzzi might get to play, the only doubts are the defense where stam is likely to start but if we see negro andmijah we are yet to see as they suffered light injuries vs atalanta!

For`za Lazio to the finals!

I read that same article valda, likely the two other mids will be Giannichedda & Liverani  perhaps Lazetic. Hopefully Miha & Negro will be fit to play. If we cannot pass the quarterfinal, it will obviously be a huge disappointment for Lazio.

Liverani is much more of a playmaker and if we field Gianichedda beside Simeone/Liverani, I would take Liverani as he could provide more than what Simeone can.

16:29 UEFA has announced that the UEFA Cup fourth round second-leg fixture between Wisla Kraków and S.S. Lazio has been postponed as the Polish club's pitch was deemed unplayable following an inspection.

Reserve date
The match was perhaps the most eagerly anticipated of tonight's eight games following a thrilling 3-3 first-leg draw in Rome last week. However, it will now be played on a reserve date of 4 or 5 March unless both teams agree to play the game tomorrow. A decision is expected later today.

Freezing temperatures
The pitch had been covered by snow and ice for much of the week prior to an effort to clear it yesterday. The surface was subsequently deemed playable but conditions deteriorated following Lazio's training session and the freezing temperatures which gripped the city last night.

---------------------
So no match tonight. I wonder when it will be played...

That's not good at all! We have the derby on the following saturday. This match is so important that we have to play with the 1st team and then they'll be all tired in the derby and we still won't win! :(

The postponed UEFA Cup fourth round second-leg match between Wisla Kraków and S.S. Lazio is to be played in Krakow on Wednesday.

Frozen pitch
The game had been scheduled for last Thursday but was called off because of a frozen pitch at Wisla's stadium. After it was agreed the match could be played on 5 March, Wisla proposed using Wisla Plock's home ground, Petro Plock SSA, as a possible alternative.

Hot air
Inspections took place yesterday at both venues and UEFA has now given the go-ahead for the match to be staged in Krakow with an 18.00CET kick-off. Wisla have been pumping hot air over the surface under a huge canopy in a bid to beat the wintry weather.

Besiktas await winners
The first leg in Rome finished 3-3 and the two sides will enter the return game knowing Besiktas JK await them in the last eight after the Turkish league leaders eliminated SK Slavia Praha in the fourth round.

Well these draws are gonna have to end at some point. I just hope they are followed by a win not a loss. But I think they are coz our recent performances have been more than the results show.

After Poland's abject showing at the 2002 FIFA World Cup, football in the country has received a much-needed boost this season by the continued excellence of Wisla Krįkow in the UEFA Cup. A victory against S.S. Lazio in tonight's rearranged fourth round second-leg tie would do much to further raise spirits.

Freezing temperatures
The game was due to take place last Thursday, when the pitch in Krakow failed an inspection. The playing surface had been covered in snow for much of the week and freezing temperatures took their toll. To ensure there was no repeat the second time around, Wisla hired a hot-air machine and the tie will go ahead as scheduled at 18.00CET.

Irrepressible in Europe
Wisla have been irrepressible in Europe this term, thrashing Parma AC and FC Schalke 04 4-1 in the second legs of their two previous ties. Such a scoreline this evening would be remarkable against a Lazio side who are unbeaten in eleven matches this season away from the Stadio Olimpico, the venue of the 3-3 first-leg draw between these sides.

Italian scalps
The Polish challengers are looking for a hat-trick of recent Italian scalps at home after defeating Internazionale FC in the UEFA Cup last season before bowing out 2-1 on aggregate. They will be boosted by inclusion of Maciej Zurawski, the scorer of two goals in Rome. The 26-year-old Polish international's participation was in doubt last week, but he is a certain starter after recovering from a stomach injury. Arkadiusz Glowacki and Marcin Baszczynski are also expected to play after recovering from colds.

I would like to ask our fans to give a fair invitation to the Italian team

Added spice
Lazio are preparing to enter the lion's den. The match has been given added spice by the Polish media's decision to blame the Italian club for the failure of last week's match to go ahead. The Wisla coach, Henryk Kasperczak, had no qualms at the postponement and has called on supporters of his side to welcome Lazio to Krakow.

Mancini determined
Roberto Mancini, Kasperczak's opposite number, is confident that his Lazio side will be the one which progresses to a quarter-final against Besiktas JK, the unbeaten Turkish league leaders. "It will not be a match like the rest but this can also give us strength to hold on for victory," he said. AS Roma are next up for Lazio, though Mancini refuses to think ahead to Saturday's capital city showdown, saying: "I will choose the best formation without thinking about the derby."

Peruzzi missing
His plans have been hampered by the absence of goalkeeper Angelo Peruzzi and defender Sinisa Mihajlovic with thigh and back injuries respectively, as well as 'flu sufferer Dino Baggio. Luca Marchegiani is likely to be handed the No1 jersey, while Dejan Stankovic and Giuseppe Pancaro are both fit again for a match in which Lazio cannot afford a low-scoring draw.

Sinisa Mihajlovic and Angelo Peruzzi didn't leave Rome for Krakow yesterday. The two players are still unavailable but could be back for the derby on Saturday.

Mancini: "They could return available for the derby. I hope so but it's not sure. It would be very imporant to have Mihajlovic back in the defence and use his skills at free kicks and corners."

Roberto Mancini is set to field his strongest side possible as Lazio look for a place in the UEFA Cup quarter-finals.

The Italian side take on Wisla Krakow this evening in the rescheduled second leg tie after the original game was postponed because of a frozen pitch.

Mancio had used the competition to field some of his reserve players but the 3-3 first leg result in the Olimpico leaves Lazio needing a victory against the Poles to qualify.

Yugoslav sensation Dejan Stankovic returns to the line-up after injury, while Claudio Lopez is partnered by Enrico Chiesa up front.

Luca Marchegiani retains his place in goal at the expense of the injured Angelo Peruzzi, while key striker Bernardo Corradi is cup-tied.

Probable line-up:
Wisla: Hugues; Baszczynski, Glowacki, Jop, Stolarczyk; Cantoro, Kosowski, Uche, Strak; Kuzba, Zurawski

Lazio: Marchegiani; Stam, Negro, Couto, Pancaro; Lazetic, Stankovic, Giannichedda, Fiore; Lopez, Chiesa

Ref: Dougall (Sco)

The taped-delay will be shown here later so I've yet to see the match, what a relief though. It does sound like Deki went off limping at the end of the match, hopefully he'll be fit for the derby. Great performance under such pressure tonight.

Chiesa's goal was a beautie! It was probably from 25 m or something. And Couto did something positive for a change even though he did get a yellow like so many of our players. They must of really gone there with an attitude "lets do everything it takes".
BTW Wisla had been unbeaten on home turf for 20 years! ;)

I watched the game at Rai Due.... direct from the stadio... we played well but the defense is a real pb ... coz they are too old and very heavy
they cant run!!!!!!!!!!!!

The defence did pretty well and especially Couto, I must comment on him. He was such a solid figure but it was very difficult to play there was so many puddles and that makes it very difficult for the ball to move.
