Well I play CM 01/02 of course and Cardetti aint doing so hot with me this season. I had a goo deal but I mean he hasent scored one goal in 15 games he played! Even DP is not good or at least not for his skills. I am told that Kluivert scores alot.

Okoronkow is like CM01/02's answer to Bakayoko from CM97/98, he's incredible yet in life he probably sucks. He's got at least 19's in the last column of attributes (tackling, technique etc.) and he's 20-20 on pace and acceleration. The thing about him is, he had only 4 caps when I signed him and he managed to get a full (not a "conditional wait a few weeks") work permit despite being mostly unknown, so I reckon he's just specially made to be bought as a good player.

And I have to agree with you on the Van Nistelrooy one, the guy's simply the best striker in the game without the use of editors. I read somewhere that To Madeira's (again I say who?) pretty good, but he keeps signing for Sporting and not play so I dunno how good he is.

I mean if you see his skills you wouldt pay a dime, but if you let him play a season he scores at least 20 goals, at least with me. Plus it always depeds who you are playing and how. Thats why the game is good. But over all. Guzman scored me 19 goals in like 30 games.
Ibrahim Said is supposed to be a good defender.

dugout's great for downloads, but www.champmaniacs.de got a great list of players to sign, it's not much in way of player description tho. Vieira's good too if you play the 4-1-3-2 formation with him in the DMC position, he gets 5-6 tackles a game on average.

Have you heard anything on the new CM? I think it will be called CM4 and it should come out this summer or somehting. I heard it will be very good with new options etc, but one thing that will be totally new is the playing on the net? do you know anythign?

I heard CM4 may have up to 50 leagues (probably most of the European and Asian leagues) and a 2D match engine so we can see players or something. And they're apparently working on making it work over the net "one way or the other". But I heard that last year and the site that had it took the article off. Plus I think one of the creators of CM is leaving Sports Interactive so there may be no more CM after CM4! :(

And have you noticed that 4-1-3-2 isn't quite as good as it was in previous versions? I used to win a whole season undefeated but now it's really neck to neck. I thought it was maybe the players but they're mostly the same ratings just that I score less even with Vieri and Van Nistelrooy up front.

All I know is that Cm is a very good game. I hope they will keep on making them like always. I am playing with Cipriani and trezeguet now with DP supporting. they seem to do ok. You win a season with no defeats? Damn! I got to 6th place last season. I just started the new season and I am 9th after 3 games. But I think I will do well this time.
By the way. I found some good young players that score so many goals!

I know Bobby Zamora's performance is fairly good if he's given a few years to develop but he sucks at first and costs a bit so I didn't bother buying him when I started the game again. Sergey Semak does well in the EPL but he's not a striker, he does make striker do good tho!

And I was into like season 5 or 6 when I went undefeated in the old versions. I spent a lot of money and ruined a few careers getting the perfect team to work actually.

I just played Juve with Milan today, DP-Salas-Trezeguet scored 4 combined against me while my Rui-Pippo-Sheva did another 4 against Juve for a 4-4 draw. There's a good thing about champman, the matches between these two are entertaining like they should be in RL. Trezeguet doesn't do too bad on some of my games (I've got one main one and three others), he bagged 25 in the Serie A despite playing in a fairly defensive formation and gets 75% of shots and passes on target. I tried to buy him but he was beyond my budget.

Hey, can you check on Jandro pls?! He plays for Valencia. In my CM he scored about 40 goals out of 44 games. so I have him up front now with One of Treze Salas or Cipriani.

Well I can't play champman for a while 'cause I have my mid session exams for uni atm. But I remember Jandro, he scored an away goal against me team in Europe once and scared me shitless. I kept track of him for while, he seemed very average one season with 8 in 34 matches then he moved to Real Madrid and scored 36 goals in 38 matches. I remember looking at his hidden stats on an editor, his dribbling was 41 in the editor and 20 in the game. But his performances were really erratic.

Out of 9 games he played he scored 7 goals. One especially at the 92th minute after a tie against Aek for the UEFA cup!

We have very different games I think, Jandro's fairly erratic on mine, one great was Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink, 16 goals in the ECL. How is Vieri in yours? In mine he's a bit of a whinger, I bought him for 28 million because he fell out with Cuper, he scored 52 in 46 matches in my first season then I bought Van Nistelrooy to parnter and Vieri dropped to 14 in 45 matches (Van Nistelrooy got 30 in 50) then wanted a ridiculously expensive contract so I offloaded him to Valencia where now he's requested transfer because he once again fell out with his manager. I think they put Anelka's mental attributes into Vieri's.

I know what you mean, I am at the third season and Jandro had problems and wanted to move, so since he scored 44 goals in 46 matches the season before I bought him in exchange of Cardetti.
Vieri too wants to go away at the end of the season. Still he has a lot of goals.
But Jandro is playing fairly well, out of 9 games he scored 7 goals.

I retract my statements about Anelka's mental attributes. I had a quick go on champman today, in my game Anelka now plays for Leverkusen and he's got a list of whinges longer than list of outstanding dives by Inzaghi. He's being treated for depression, hates the manager and the assistant, wants to move, wants more money, feels the media/the refs/the fans/the rest of the world is too harsh on him, hates his teammates, is homesick and thinks the rest of the team is underacheiving even at 2nd in the Bundesliga by a point and that's just for starters! At least most strikers in champman when they whinge they pretty much have a right like when they score a ton the season before but Anelka's a major flop! I think maybe he's just a little bit exaggerated by the people who put down his attributes there.

Oh and Jandro's moved from Real to Deportivo, he hasn't played a match yet it's just 16th of December in game.

And how is Cardetti? In my game his stats aren't too great but I keep hearing about how good he is. BTW Cavenaghi is good too, scores 23 in 17 in the Apertura and 18 in 15 in the Clasura.

I hate 3-5-2 formations , i don't know why but i can't seem to win with that tactic . That is why i am using 4-4-2 . Anyway the best buy i think is Djibril Cisse which i bought for £14m from Auxerre . He scored 9 in 6 in his 1st season and 10 in 12 due to a 8 month injury . What do you think of him ?

Well like I said I use my 3412, and Montella and Totti are just awesome, Cassano and Bati too. I bought for a really low price Jofre, his average last season was 7.45 which is not bad. And his price went up form 2 billion liras to 12 billions.
I am Roma, And Totti is the best player in the game, he scores like crazy and assists like crazy.

Ooh this thread's back! I have to suggest the Saviola-Kluviert combo, I haven't noticed til lately but the two of them at Barca has scored nearly 200 goals between them in around 3 seasons. And Crespo too, I think he's basically carrying Lazio in my game. Oh and Italianboy, Jandro's retired in my game now, 2 year long injury. Sad end to a good player eh?

It's unfair how many great Argentine attackers there are in CM01/02. Cavenaghi can be a god in the game after a while, I've finally bought the guy and he's got me 20 in 24 in first season whilst struggling with new lifestyle and my two best playmakers Riquelme and Van Der Vaart being out for a bit in the season.

Nah Van Der Vaart also go on my left wing on occasions. Riquelme's in the hole while Van Der Vaart pulls the strings from behind, it all works out. I got Gattuso to tackle everything that moves and he does a fairly good job at it.

I had Maldini in defense and Albertini and Gattuso were around to play, I actually bought Gerrard just to have an U-23 midfield and he can take over from Gattuso and Albertini, in the end he did so well he became my full time starter (kinda silly me paying 14 million pounds for a back up player eh?). Tho eventually I replaced Gerrard with Donati and Rosicky and D'Alessandro were sold for mega bucks 'cause of their ridiculous wage demands and bought Riquelme and stuck Gattuso out right again and the midfield's better again.

Tho one thing I really don't like abou CM, all the legends like Blanc, Maldini, Baggio etc. end up being coaches for some unknown side in Belgium or something, they should be the next generation of managers I have to try and conquer!

I paid 5 million up front 5 after 40 league matches and 10 after 30 caps. My wage limit is 70000 pounds a week, 75000 if he's an absolute god or if he's my full time captain, any more and I generally tell them to bugger off. I try to keep my weekly wage bill at around about 1-1.5 million at best. I saw Barcelona in my game and they had 3 million a week and I just wonder how they pay for that.

And Nicolas Anelka, got released by the "Just Sporting Clause" 'cause he was unhappy at his club and claimed his manager was unfair at slagging him off.

I think Crespo meant his club's overall wage per week. My average wage is a million pounds a week.

I try to keep a domestic influence on my teams usually, at Milan I always at least have an all-italian defense and in England I try to put in English players whenever I can. Surprisingly it works out fairly good, and also my foreigners tend to speak the same language as at least one other player or coach, as a result I've rarely had people struggling with new lifestyles.

And Cavenaghi, have you tried him? I can't believe how good he is!

I'm on my 5th season with Milan and on my way to completing a hat trick of ECLs. It's also Albertini's last season as a player I would think cause I'm planning on making him a full time coach. My striker force is Shevchenko and Cavenaghi supported by Riquelme in a 3-4-1-2 formation and the strange thing is that my team scored 90 goals in 34 matches in the Serie A last season while conceding a lot, maybe I should've played in the Premiership as Manchester United?

CM4 I think will be out worldwide a month or two after it hits the stores in Europe. That would be around October or November I think. I should start saving up for a new comp, wonder what kind of power is needed to run 50 leagues?

I'm not sure, the difference between running 16 leagues on CM 99/00 and 01/02 was pretty big so I reckon a P2 would only run one of two leagues in CM4. I'm thinking with all the new stuff they're saying will be in CM4 it'll take an Athlon or a P4 to fully appreciate it.

I think Cragnotti doesn't believe in transfer prices of twice the asking price upfront. He's one of the more hands on manager in the game. Try to offer a little upfront and a lot for other appearances.

Maxim Tsigalko has been the best buy for me check him outr he plays for some Belerussian team he is only 18 but excellnt his finishing is 20 and so are his other important stats for a striker and only 500,000 pounds if he were ate Real Madrid would be easily 20,000,000 million pounds get him quick at the begining of the game or else a giant rich club will pick him up and ya ain't never gonna get him after that!

I´m still a newbie at CM, but I´ve seen Bojan Djordjic (Man Utd) do some pretty good stuff. He´s very young too.

Also, Daniele Bonera (Brescia) and Jorge Samuel Caballero (Udinese) are very good if you want to improve your defense.

That is, of course, if you don´t mess with the values using the editor. I did that with the future abilities of some young Venezuelan players, and now I can´t buy any of them (I haven´t offered much though).

Well if you think about CM3, it came around '98. So I don't think next one will be around just yet :o

Of course there are like CM '01-'02 but 03-04 will be only published for Xbox I think. So if 04-05 will be published in autumn '04, it's long time enough.

If CM4 has a net league option, I think that league with all it's players will have to be announced to some server (like sigames' own server) where the league is playable like day-per-day or week-per-week. Or then it has to have some very developed system that uses PBEM (Play By E-Mail) or something like that where the game has to be played totally turn-based. It's very complicated though, and I wouldn't wonder if the game hadn't this possibility. It works for two or maybe even five but like 10-20 who play over the Internet... I don't think so. Hope there is some possibility to play it though.

All those who are asking: it's coming in February according to the last news. Of course he can't be sure because once the game is late, it tends to be that way a few times.

TCM 2003 is more playable than CM 01-02 but certainly not as good. It has Fifa 2002 engine to look the games or then just text like in CM. It's ok as a game but I'd wait for CM4.

want some advice? make sure before you start a new game that you have "maximum database" on in the settings, that way all the players are there, and you can get great buys like isaak okoronkwo and julius aghahowa from Shaktar (and i mean these two guys are GREAT!)....... i once sold aghahowa at age 23 (he's 19 at the beginning) for 32 million pounds!
another tip - the best gk in the game? River Plate's Franco costanzo, at the beginning he's just as good as Oliver Kahn! and he's 20 yrs old!

BTW Okoronkwo is a must-get. And keep a tab on Nesta, in some games the Lazio manager doesn't play him so he gets to leave after a couple of seasons, tho he might still not come cheap.

And get Ebbe Sand, I had to manage Schalke as well just to see this guy bang in goals. God he's goooood.

In 7 matches Shevchenko has scored 12 goals for me.
Trezeguet keeps getting injured, once he comes back he scores on the 4th or 10th minute then after 5 mins he gets injured! UNFAIR!:cry:

i had v. nistelrooy for a season, i managed man u, scored 84 goals in that season, without counting friendlies and international goals...... that was amazing......

i might also like to say gnlvagosov, if trezeguet is repeatedly getting injured it could be one of two things:
1) first, check him with one of your physio's (physio report). he might have a recurring injury and you might need to send him for rehab (out for quite a while!:mad: )
2) he might simply be tired. Check training, and if his status is below 80% lets say, put him in no training for a few days, that should give him time to fully recover

try it out, and that should resolve your problems

Is Trezeguet on light injury? Don't play a light injured player if you don't have to, they may get recurring injuries. BTW Trezeguet only gets 8 league goals in 34 matches usually for me, so I don't like him much.

I found these players too be good, although I`m not sure if they are from the right version.

Fiorentin Petre. (right midfielder) (really cheap like 1million)

Konstantinou (striker) between 4/7 million If you are lucky even at 2.4, if he gets mad and transfer listed at own request.

Mihalcea (striker) around 3/4 million

faustino asprilla (striker) He wrecked the good team atmosphere everytime but also scores a freakin lot and costs really almost nothing. between 0.5/2 million.

Probably already mentioned, but still, expecially Petre rules, also in better teams like in the premiership.

hehehe yes i agree soccerfanatic... btw i was messing around with the editor, filtering players with the best potential skills.... i put the filter on 190 (200 is the best), and Van der Vaart has a potential of 195!!! van der meyde has 180 something, so that just shows how good they are:D

gnlvagosov, the solution to your problems is a change of formation, and toggling the starting 11 periodically - sometimes a better player in a position than another one, let's say nesta is better centre back than chivu, but he doesn't get along with cannavaro (hypothetically speaking); whenever nesta and cannavaro are paired up, they won't play together well, and you'll concede more goals, but whenever chivu is paired up with either one, your defense is much more solid! This is all hypothetically speaking, i dunno if cannavaro and nesta don't get along or anything!
also if a player says a postive comment about another one in their like mental status screen (you know where they say if they're unhappy, or admire the coach etc), they are much more likely to work together very well and vice versa

If you're leaking goals at the end of the match, try subbing off players who are less than 80% fit during the match. And don't go defensive, attack and press til the end! And rotate your players, they get exhausted after a while. And how you managed to sign that many players without cheating is beyond me......

try few defenders (maybe a sweeper), a big midfield with attacking wings, and 3 attackers. i would sell a few of ur players if i was u, (if the club dont have a great economy, u would risk to get fired with bad results too). u dont need many starplayers, I won the CL 5 times in a row with Rosenborg who doesnt have any real big star players and i was just buying a few midfielders and a striker). Try to not get panic and rush thru the game when its going bad, find a tactic who works for u and switch tactic every half season at least, but not all the time cuz then the players r getting unsecure. scout for young players and dont just buy temporary stars that is getting too old to play. give some players chance to play when others r injuried and they will improve more in the training.

I bought Solano for 2.300.000. :)

Forest was a good choice, but Vitesse is great too. Great players, reasonable expectations and good support from the board. One problem is though that there isnt much money. And they are in the coolest league of.... .... the Benelux.

it was my first time so i wanted to experiment, anyways I just won the Scudetto, i crashed out of the CL, and then again in the UEFA, and in the Italian Cup, I crashed out.
Sheva was my top scorer with Crespo and Trezeguet second, nearly all of my team got the awards, except the FIFA player of the Year award which went to Ronaldo!:mad:

Well I use my customised 3-4-1-2 formation. What the individual orders are is a secret..... :D But I've used that formation to win 3 consecutive European Cups, 4 straight Scudetti, the World Cup and an UEFA Cup and still going strong!

cm 02/03 is only for xbox, and it has updated rosters and a few corrections from cm 01/02 on xbox...... i play cm on my pc

BTW, don't buy players purely for their real world fame, unless you have an uber tough team to being with. Don't expect to sign (in theory) Micheal Owen and expect him to score 20+ goals every season......

i did it aswell, at the start of the season...i wasted all my money and still I can't win many games, im second in the league with one match to play and Milan is first.. and guess what I play Milan next... im in the final or the CL with guess who? ATALANTA? (how the hell did they get there I don't know...)

About the NT.
You have to have done well for a long while before getting ther.
I do not think you can coach it form the start.
you can apply to all NT BTW.
Also, I agree Dont get players by their names.
I got Chiesa and man! I sold him so I made more money but he sucked! And guess what? in the other teams he is alwasy the top scorer.

I have a hella of a good team but still cant win.
I am usually good but now it seems weird that I cant win.
I use 4132 but still cant win with the likes of baros, Cardetti, Jelic Okornkwo, etc etc etc.

Chiesa have done pretty good for me everytime I played him but not enough to convince me not to sell him. :silly:

But I don't agree with the famous players thing, my cousin ALWAYS buy famous players and he's doing very good most of the time.

Me, I go for the players brought by scouts or those I find by personal searches, as I usually manage teams with low money resources so I can't buy the big players. :(

here the moment to write all I've got for the CM!

introduced myself to this game just in September and ohhhhhh...

I started with Inter and since I don't like cheating I was fired in January when I was 7th in Seria A, out of UEFA and Italy Cup and had a nice team... That was upsetting and strange to me...

So I went for another try. Signed Taribo West (personal preference), Desaily and Hasselbaink. Did not know much about the game so did not know well what to do and whom to buy. However, Vieri with all his greatness was always unhappy influencing the rest of the team, Ronaldo was so fragile that he was almost useless. Emre was homesick, hasselbaink sucked...

anyway with all this shit happening playing 442 ended up 6 or 7 th dont remember exactly now. but I was 3rd sometimes. In a cup was lucky enough to get to finals where lazio destroyed me.

so the next season the board wanted CL place from me. OK. I managed to sell Vieri to Real for 60mln (hate unhappy players...) and I've also sold my major asset Seedorf to real for guess what 100mln $!!! Hasselbaink was out too... instead got Raul from Real for just 40 mln, Cannavaro almost for free, Candela from Roma's bench and etc.
so that I won everything except for the italian league cup. went even further got Trezeguet and Di Vaio sold Recoba, materazzi, sergio consesaion and etc.

that was the best season played with 64 games without losing in Seria playing 2D-4DM-1M-1AM-2S

the players I will advice to buy are the ones with good flair. for those playing with weak teams: Bartosz Karwan from Poland, Pjanovic from Jugoslavia, Nigmatullin from Russia (brilliant keeper one of the best in the world), Mido from Ajax, Sebastian Pluta from Poland, Maxi Lopez from Argentine... and HOLOVKO from Ukraine is very good defender. I did it with Fiorentina and won title once and UEFA cup too.
send your scouts to eastern europe and you'll get good players for reasonable price! and what's also important they will never demand high salaries :D

PS: I was sacked in 2007 by Moratti on a day I won Continental cup because I sent an ultimatum on stadium expansion just after the game. he thanked me for winning 2 UEFA cups, 3 italy supercups, 3 euro supercups, 3 continental cups, 3 CL cups, 4 or 5 championships, 2 confederation cups and etc. but I've never won Italian Cup :( (my first squad tend to lose perugia 5:0 :(

anyway I love this game even more after being sacked for outbursts...

The game is great, as manager of Vitesse I only bought Van Hoogdalem and am pushing for a Euro qualification spot in the league (top 5) and am in the UEFA CUP with a tie against Parma.

I loaned Kevin Hofland and Wamberto from PSV and Ajax. :cool:

I also made an offer too loan Gudjohnson of Chelsea, but on the last minute he refused. If he keep performing well he might still want too come to Vitesse for the last few months. :)

I`m short on strikers and cash. Very realistic game.

Already got big offers for some players. Refused them ofcourse. :cool:

I did lose 4-2 againsat De Graafschap. :(

One thing I've noticed tho is that Italian chairman's in the game is very patient. Vialli's been coaching Juventus for 4 years now and the highest he's ever finished is 4th..... he hasn't even had an insecure job yet!

Thing about the NT, if you've won an European trophy recently and are in the top 10 rankings of world managers, you're a shoo-in. if not, try to be in the top 5 of your nation.

Oh and Chivu and Hofland in the same defense? Smoking...... :D Add to that one Alessandro Nesta and voila! Cost me 50 million pounds and probably a league title the year before to get those two, but now I haven't lost a trophy in 2 years.....

Cheating isn`t allowed.
We play for three years (in the game ofcourse)
We vote on which team too play with.

After three seasons we compare who got the best results and what squads everybody ended up with.

Im playing with Blackburn now. After two seasons of some cheating I have stopped them, and im doing very good (even better than with the cheats). In early February, Im fighthing for the Premiership title, currently placed second four points below ManU (although they have a game less), and im about to meet Fenerbahce in the 4th round of the UEFA Cup. My formation? A simple 4-4-2, although I change it for a 4-5-1 against stronger rivals.

Some weird stuff has happened then. My first season in, Aston Villa and West Ham were relegated. Villa managed inmediate promotion, but West Ham hasn´t left Division One yet (algthough they are leading it right now, with a considerable margin). 02/03 season was even stranger, with Tottenham dropping to the First Division (and, as of now, they show no signs of returning to the Premiership). Also notable has been Wigan Athletic, with an almost instantanoeus rise from Division Two to the Premiership, where they are playing now (and with some good chances for survival).

My buys? I reccomend looking for players with high determination attributes (15 or higher). I swooped Michael Bridges from Leeds, and he has become my top goalscorer, leading the Premiership with 28 goals in 02/03. I´ve had good times with John Curtis and Gareth Barry in the back, both of them earning consistent England call-ups. Right now, my top transfer objective is to buy a good ballwinner. Any reccomendations there?

Well I sold Chiesa cuz I am in 2004 and he is 33. He is still good, but I got him for 9 billion liras and sold him for 12.
So its was a good deal.
Plus I still have the likes of Mido Baros Mutu, etc.
I got a kick ass team and hopefully I am going to win somethign this season on.
3412 works well with some teams. With others it sucks.

If you want a guarantee of Shevchenko scoring, then pair him up with Del Piero, every match Shev has scored a goal for me when DP is with him, when DP got injured, I didn't win for 5-6 matches, and Shev didn't score a single goal, I paired him up with Crespo, Salas, Trezeguet and nothing... when DP was back from Injury, and I paired him Shev, guess what? Shev starts scoring again! im out of the Copa Italia, Into the second stage of the CL, and now 2nd in the league, 1 point behind guess who? PERUGIA!!! :mad:

anyways if you want a good player i'll advise you to get Deco from Porto, he's the best.
