The worst player in the Italian national squad are probably Panucci who shouldn't even be there. There's also Gattuso, Montella (overrated) and Donie who is in a poor form this season.

am i the only one who thinks there's a use for panucci on the team ? well trap and i anyway ?

with such a youthful presence on the team where's the leadership gonna come from ?

Severus, the Italian squad has lot of leaders. Cannavaro who is the team captain, Nesta, Totti, Del Piero, Vieri just to name some. They are/were captains of their clubs in the league.

still not enough, there's always room for atleast 1 30-something on my team. sure those guys provide leadership. not the veteran leadership panucci brings to the table though plus he's not a bad footballer either, still.

hey Looney....sorry no point was made in the previous post in regards to your question of "what's wrong with Panucci?". Panucci is a quality player and can be valuable to the Azzurri. He can play as a left or right back and he can also play on the wings. I think many people have lost favor with him because to be quite honest, he hasn't been at his best form this year.

However, I think a 4 man defense of Panucci, Cannavaro, Nesta, and Zambrotta would be very formidable, especially because Panucci and Zambrotta can be effective pushing the ball forward. Italia needs to change its approach and attack more! Catenaccio (if it absolutely must be used) should only be used when protecting a TWO goal lead, not a one goal lead. We need Trapattoni to get out of the Stone Ages.
