That matters not.
They will keep winning no matter what YOU do.

Thnaks for keeping in me in my place.

I wouldn't like to meet one of the Williams sisters in an isolated place at night:silly:
They will keep winning until new sensation Lena Daniilidou smashes them.
Then i'll open a new topic:D

Seriously, I don`t think there is.
Can`t wait for Clijsters too break their never ending victories.
Ofcourse it is a good prestation of the Williams girls, but they are not fun too watch.
Just hardhitters with a lot of unforced errors. Still they are good.
Agassi is a different story, damn he is good.

well you'll have to wait, those Williams horses are going to dominate for the next ten years

The only way to break the Williams dominance right now is to either legalise steroids in the WTA or let the Williams play with the men's. Otherwise don't expect Dementieva on the backpage of your newspaper after a major......
And the title of this thread would've been more eyecatching if it was "Australian wins Australian Open". "American wins Australian Open" is like saying "I took a crap today".......

I disagree, Kim Clijsters will grow out too be a better tennis player than both of the Williams sisters combined.
She already defeated her once and Clijsters is far from her top ability.
She is strong and much better in accuracy. As soon as she gets older and more experienced, she will whipe the floor with those Williams sisters.

Kournikova is an excellent tennis player.
Did you see that backside against Henin?
I meant backhand ofcourse.

You've got it!!!!!
There is somthing more boring than the Williams sisters winning everything - Its endlessly having to put up with that talentless barbie wannabe Kournikova strutting around pouting, throwing tantrums, and stealing the limelight from the serious sportswomen.

01-27-2003, 02:12 PM
Couldn`t agree more.
Henin is ten times better too watch than Kournikova.
In a tennis match that is.
Allthough Kournikova does have a lot of talent, but refuses too seize it.

Yep - if she moves into modeling fine no problems from me - but her tennis is becoming a joke.

Stuff Kournikova! New generation of tennis players coming through! Come on! Anna's old now!

Did you see the match between Henin and Kournikova?
Even the commentator was laughing.
I can`t blame him, she was pathetic. And then all those fans cheering for her when Henin made one of few totally unforced errors.
What kind of people cheer for her that way? I think it is an insult too quality players like Henin.
I have no problem with Kournikova settling for first rounds victories instead of real glory, which she is capable off if she would work hard. She choose like you said too for modelling and acting, but I think the press should ignore her and the tournament bosses should let her play her matches on smaller courts.
There are players out there who deserve the bigger courts more than Kournikova.
She should first learn too play decent tennis again, then she can play again on the big showcourts.
Too get more anger of my chest I move too Roddick. :)
I a match against Raemon Sluiter the guy gave high fives too his fans in the audience in between points!!!! What the hell is that?
Think it is insulting too the other player and distracting.
He has an appropriate name, lets leave it at that.
Next time I will explain my anger towards Seles (we all know why).

The Williams sisters get a bit boring, but there good.

The press will never ignore Kornikova because she is blonde and wears revealing outfits - this sells papers!
The sad fact is that she is dragging down the status of womens tennis. Although now mens and womens tennis is more equal than it was twenty years ago there will never be equality between them, while people like Kournikova exploit the chauvanistic side to the game.

Jessica, I agree she sucks, but like you say about Beckham, she is hot! I do think she has a better future in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue than in the WTA

Sport isn't about 'being hot' - its about wether you're good or not! IF you're good and you happen to be hot (like Beckham) great, but it's pointless just being hot like Kournikova. Then the sport is no longer relevant and we may as well all stare at anna for half an hour then go home.

Not more revealing than those williams sisters.

Thats crap, there are a lot of players which are worse than Kournikova, she can`t be blamed for all the stupid people who follow her around, both media and "tennis" fans.
She just gets too much attention, question is who too blame for that.
1 Kournikova, for dressing "revealing". (She plays tennis with temperatures like 30 degrees Celcius, what do you expect?)
2 The media, for giving her far more attention then she, tennis wise, deserves.
3 The fans who are more interested in her body than her level of play.
If you ask me the media is too blame. The tournament directors are in the same group, since they insist too let her play on a showcourt.
Fans are just horny, can`t blame them for that and Kournikova just dresses as the average WTA player, with result she looks hot, but with that body she could wear an overall and look dressed to kill.
Although now mens and womens tennis is more equal than it was twenty years ago there will never be equality between them, while people like Kournikova exploit the chauvanistic side to the game.
She wouldn`t be able too do that if the media ignored her.
Kournikova just cashes in, because she can, don`t blame her for that, easy money.

How can you guys dislike Kurnikova that much?Almost noone from these ppl who cheer for her respects her as a tennis player.Still,i wouldn't know a thing abt tennis if it wasn't Kurnikova to watch some games. It's no disrespect to talented girls or the sport itself.Critics, fans, players all now who are the best and i doubt Kurnikova regards herself as a great tennis player.
Chill out, she's just a beatiful athlete who made an impact because she appeared in a sport that didn't have to show women like her.

Not questioning her position in tennis, I don`t blame her.
I blame the media. Not because I think Kournikova is some bitch but because I sincerely think there are woman out there who do more for the sport than Kournikova.
I will be the last too complain about her looks. :D
But still I rather watch a tennis match between Henin and Capriati for instance. Because I like the sport.

No disrespect for Kournikova here, just that her amount of attention she gets playing tennis from the media isn`t fair too all those girls who are better and have too do without the attention they deserve.

IMO (it may not be Kournikovas fault) but she is still not good for the proffesionalism of the game of tennis.
Imagine if beckham started paying more attension on the pitch to his hair than to his game.
Soccer fanatic i didn't say she was the worst player i was saying that her behavouir and attitude is not good for the sport. The outside world (often through the media - agreed) very often sees women tennis through Anna Kournikova ie; money grabbing, immature, and fickle. How can this be anything but negative for womens tennis.
Other tennis players dress like her and some are as beautiful as her, if not more. but very few, and certainly not those in the limelight, manipulate these "assets" for there own gain.
If horney fans want young women scantily clad there are plenty of places to go, why spoil the enjoyment and participation of the game for spectators and fans who are there for the tennis, not for some kind of public peep-show.

She is just shaking her money maker. She has too eat too.
She doesn`t force anybody too give her that much attention, the only bad thing is she doesn`t take her talent serious, but that is her own choice, can`t blame her for that.

I'm not saying her attitude is wrong regaurding making money and her life, thats her buisness, but its wrong reguarding the sport. You can blame her for not taking her talent seriously she should have more respect for the game and her "fellow" proffesionals.

I blame the press for still following her around and making her centre of atention. You can`t blame her, she is free too put as much effort in as she would like. Believe me, there are a lot of worse players in the WTA, from whom a lot from my country. :D:D

The thing I most dislike about Kournikova is her hogging the limelight, so that other attractive players aren't getting as much TV time or media coverage.....
The next thing, she's so useless these days! God damn she plays like a freaking amateur sometimes it's annoying! She error prone like the Williams but don't have the power to compensate!
And Kournikova's not a bitch. If you want a prissy, arrogant bitch try Hingis, then Jelena Dokic. Dokic being one who thinks the greatest women's player of all time is a "nobody" and should yield the main court to her in a tournament....

Hingis is not a bitch.
She just can`t stand losing. She atleast as the right attitude for a pro, only a bity too much perhaps.
Although I have too admit I`m a Hingis fan. :ashamed:

I'd take Hingis over Kournikova anyday - in more ways than one - but at least Hingis treats the sport and its participants with respect.
I agree with Soccer fanatic she hates losing and this can bring out the negative side to her - but at least she has a valid reason for sometimes behaving this way.
