CL vs. La Liga

Zidane said a couple of days ago that Madrid should concentrate in La Liga and not on the CL.

My questios is: what would you prefer:

1. La Liga champions and CL 4th. place.

Or

2. CL champions and 4th in La Liga?

Questions, thoughts?

I rate Zidanes words as selfish ... he now has the Champions League title with Real and therefor asks for the eagu ;-) :D

I would take the Champions League anytime if I had to chose.

Well, i have always thought that "Teams that deserve to win the Champions League reach the quarterfinals". Therefore, finishing 4th in La Liga is a lesser accomplishment than being a semifinalist in the CL

Well, IMO this is kind of a pointless comparison. If you win La Liga and get "4th" in the CL, you'll still be in the CL next season. Same goes for the next option. If you win the CL, you'll still be in it the following season. Based on the way you've started this discussion, anyone not choosing option 2 needs to get their head checked.

IMO, it makes more sense to generally discuss which competition you think a team should put more of an emphasis. I personally would prefer that my team put more emphasis on La Liga every time. A top four La Liga finish season in/season out, and you've got CL ball next season. Put all your eggs in the CL basket and don't concentrate on La Liga, you could easily find yourself without CL ball the following season.

I believe Real Madrid will focuse more on LA Liga than CL since Valencia won it last season. Besides that, I'm sure an Italian team will win this years CL anyway.
