Vale, the biggest derbies in Germany are the following:
Bayern Munich vs 1860 Munich
Borussia Dortmund vs Schalke 04
1.FC Cologne (currently 2nd division) vs Borussia Mönchengladbach
Hamburger SV vs Werder Bremen
Borussia Dortmund vs VfL Bochum
1.FC Nürnberg vs Spvgg Greuther Fürth (2nd division, as well)
VfB Stuttgart vs Karlruher SC ( """ )

I´m sorry, but i dont know why u call Suttgart vs. Karlsruhe and
Fürth vs. Nürnberg as BIG german Derbies.....
There are(at the moment) only two big derbies:
Schalke 04 vs. Borrusia Dortmund
and
Bayer Munich vs. 1860 Munich

Because at least the derby between Nürnberg and Fürth attracts a lot of fans and has got a huge tradition. Even when both teams played in the Regionnalliga more than 30.000 supporters were drawn to this special match. Therefore I consider it a big German derby.
As far as VfB-KSC is concerned you may be probably right.

Maybe in the season 91-92 when the VfB was crowned champion and the Kickers were relegated and never managed to return to the 1.BL. In contrast, the even went down into the Regionalliga where they´re struggling against relegation right now again.

Just had a look and wanted to write the same.... :-)
I dont really think, that they will play against each other in the next few years....
The way VFB is playin at the moment they wont be relegated and the way the Kickers are playin they wont promoted...
and it will take ages before they will be good enough to play in the 1st league

to name the biggest derbies between actual Bundesliga clubs :
Schalke - Dortmund
Muenchen 60 - Bayern
Bayern - Nürnberg
Werder Bremen - HSV
Of course there are numerous clubs in Bundesliga 2 which will produce great derbies if they manage promotion to Bundesliga 1, to mention some of them :
Cologne (d2) - Moenchengladbach
Cologne - Bayer Leverkusen ( the left side of the Rhine vs the right side of the Rhine )
Stuttgart - Karlsruhe ( d2, won't happen soon...)
Stuttgart - Freiburg ( d2)
HSV - St. Pauli ( d2, won't happen soon either, perhaps in Division 3 when St. Pauli gets relegated again and has to play against the HSV amateuer team :D !)

Actually it was around 40000 thousand, would have been the biggest crowd in Germany on that weeekend, had not Bayern-1860 been on the same day.
Also, I would like to add that this derby was packed with emotions long before anyone thought of Bayern as real contenders.
