We should definetly win of them, I`ll go for a 1-3 away victory.
VDV is also named in the Dutch squad.

Here are the staring line-ups:

Germany: Kahn – Friedrich, Ramelow, Rehmer - Frings, Jeremies, Ballack, Schneider, Boehme – Jancker, Klose.

Netherlands: Van der Sar – Ricksen, Stam, F. De Boer, Zenden – Davids, Cocu, Seedorf – Kluivert – Van Nistelrooy, Van der Meyde

One things i'm worried about s Ricksen, what is he doing there? What happend to Melchiot? Also that Zenden is playing in the back flank but shouldn't be a big problem since De boer is in the center.

BTW, Wheres Ronald De boer? I would have put him in for Cocu who would go to Ricksens position because Germany are going to be surely looking for goals sicnethi is a classic rivalry.

I don`t know, last time he was in the squad.

Ricksen is our best RB at the moment, sad as that may be. Melchiot isn`t that good, he is a bit unhandy. The squad looks good, in the 2nd half the Germans will see some true talent for the first timer since they saw Johan Cruyff, Rafael van der Vaart will come in. :) It will be 1-3 since Jancker isn`t playing.

Expect Advocaat to come to his senses and start playing VDV in the line up in the up coming matches :D ;)

Great decision by Dick to recall Seedorf and play Hasselbaink from the bench, it has really paid off. Seedorf with 1 goal and 2 assist and Hasselbaink with 2 goals so far.

yes I still don`t like Advocaat but fair enough, he is doing allright. He and Van Hanegem ofcourse. Recalling Seedorf was an obvious decision, he is pure class, why isn`t he always in the squad?

You would expect that, but he said he won`t. Koeman told in an interview he agreed with Advocaat, probably scared VDV will get injured. :)

But I think he should start always, the boy is a genious. :) But for now he will have to do with a place on the bench, a disgrace if you ask me. What more could he do to convince? Advocaat said that the main reason was because of the competition he has from Cocu and Davids. Why not all of them? Kick RVN out. :)

If Advocaat is scared to play VDV because of "injuries" (or atleast thats what he says) then when Holland plays weak teams in the group (Moldova and Belarus) then he should play VDV and Van der Meyde toghther in the mid and rest Davids and Cocu which would help the boys get experience and hopefully prove to Dick that they (or VDV) should start. (Not in every game but still start in abot half). Because he needs to get some experience on the interntional level, coming off the bench wont do too much good.

I meant Koeman. :) Koeman told in a TV interview he thought Advocaat did the right thing by not letting VDV start. You are right. VDV proves every match he is ready, he is always great, no matter who he plays against.

Well, I understand where Koeman is coming from because VDV is Ajax best player so a heavy injury wont do much good for him or the club. But I think Koeman can understand if VDV is gonna be played because he's too talented not to be. ;)

koeman thinks he should be brought slowly. I disagree, seeing him play makes every match better. Like you also said, he is too good to be on the bench, no matter where he plays.

Did Paul Freier play? I think Germany should change few older players, but they dont have good subs. I hope trochowski wills start in Bayern and in nt soon,...

But still everyone say , they played their best game in a whole year, because they were playing, and with a little luck they could give you more goals. But there is a typical german mistake.>they dont have good attackers,...

True, I found them very impressive, nut like you said yourself, they miss the quality attackers we have, and plenty of them, I might add. :)

Dude I might wanna agree with him. After not making it to japan 2002, they're gonna redeem themselves and do everything they can by beating the crap out of every team that stands in their path.

I think if Dick gets the lineup right, they can really go far. They can also be a very high powered attacking side.

If we qualify, we almost always go far. We have, or now had perhaps, motivating ourselves for small qualifying matches and friendlies, after missing the WC, we seem to realise this approach was wrong and want revenge. We are serious contenders, nothing more, nothing less. :)

Probably sarcasm, but thans anyway. :D

Between perhaps and motivating after the "," should have stood the word problems, but you are a smart guy, I`m sure you already figured that out. :)

Dude have faith in your team. Even though I like the netherlands as well as the azzurri, but the last time you guys played us in euro 2000, even though we were good defensively, you guys deserved to win that game. The only reason why you guys didn't make the world cup is because of portugal and ireland beating you 1 game a piece. The game against portugal you guys could've had if those 2 goals weren't slipped past you guys and the ireland game you could've won too. Other than that, forget the scata that luis van gaal put you guys through. Dick advocaat's back and better than ever.

I do have faith, but am also blessed with a realistic approach. We are contenders, definetly, but not the only ones. :) We aren`t better than France, Spain and Italy, all the matches between those teams are matches on itself, you have to have some luck too.

Against Italy was one of the most frustrating matches I ever saw, still can`t believe we lost that one. Unbelievable, we outplayed them the entire match. :(

Also sums up the history of our NT. Great field play, not the results we deserve. Still prefer beautiful football with slightly lower results than bad football and better results.

Our current perfomances are good, wqith perhaps exception for our display against Germany. Result was pretty decent.

You guys have one of the best offenses in the world. Infact, probably the best offense in the world.

soccer fanatic
12-10-2002, 05:12 PM
Well, I guess our biggest plus is having indeed good attackers, but also enough to rotate.

kluivert, Makaay, Ruud van Nistelrooij and Hasselbaink are all good.

Our midfield is pretty decent too. :)
Seedorf, Davids, Cocu, Van Bommel, van der Vaart, Cocu, R de Boer, Van der Meyde and others.

Defence still is our weakest spot, but we aren`t a defensive team anyway. :)

I hope you don`t get me wrong, I`m really proud of our national team, but look realisticly at our chances.

You may not be good defensively but since you guys have jaap stam carrying your defense, all you need is winston bogarde and you're set to have an all around team. those 2 goals that portugal scored on you guys like 2 years ago were just luck to you guys because you guys were out shooting them that game just like you did with the game against italy in euro 2000. Trust me, your chances are not like they were years ago.

The quality too finish someone off is what we miss. Ofcourse we can win matches, but we can`t finish a match of like Germans can. Dutch players will go for gallery play instead of outplaying the match decently. Bogarde could still be an international, but he should wise up and forget the salary of Chelsea and go somewhere where he gets more first team football.

I think if we qualify :), we are always contenders. But we are not ahead of any other big team. Also luck for a big part too win a EC or WC. If we just scored one of our match PK, we would have been in the final against France.
