Batigol will get the #9 shirt this year. According to some website, (can't remember which one) the Roma management did it because it'll be a good seller, a marketing strategy in other words.

I wonder how Montella feels about this. He didn't want to give up his number.

Yes. I heard a lot about this issue. Apparently Batigol had #9 reserved for him in the contract he signed. Montella made a fuss about it, but I guess it's only normal for Bati to choose. When Montella is as big as Batigol, then he'll be choosing, right? Maybe Batistuta will have some problems with these Roma players, cause he's a natural leader and they'll just have to accept that if they want to win anything...

BTW, Roma got our HIT Gorica to play against in the first round of UEFA cup. I can hardly wait to see Batigol, Totti and others in Slovenia...

Seka, i have few questions for you:
When Roma is coming to Slovenia, (do you know the exact date) ?
And from what city is the HIT Gorica from ?

I don't know the date yet. It'll be in "HIT Gorica" section, don't worry. Gorica comes from Nova Gorica, which is a town lying right on Slovenian west border (with Italy). It's approximately 1 hour from Ljubljana by car.

Their stadium is small and will be totally packed (I've never been at the stadium myself, but I guess it can't hold more than 3000 people...). Getting any tickets is almost out of the question if you don't know any locals and even so it's a long shot.

Maybe the venue will be changed, so more people could come (to Ljubljana, for example), but I very much doubt that. Visit the Gorica forum and you'll be given the up-to-date news all the time.

This is not 100% sure, but I think the date is September 14th. 99% sure http://www.worldsoccerboard.com/ubb/smile.gif

Shirt issue: Bati said he didn't come to Rome to play in this or that shirt, but to win something and score a bunch of goals. The thing isn't completely over yet (it's not official), but it's 99% sure that Montella will keep #9.

I guess Montella will be the best number 9 there ever was...

PS
Montella sucks.

After meeting between AS ROMA officials and players, Giallorossi will wear the following numbers: TOTTI-10
MONTELLA-9
BATIGOL-18
EMERSON-11
So obviously Vincentino won the fight but I really think it is not important which number does one player wear, the only important thing is that Roma wins Scudetto this year. And I really think, Roma has objective chances to acchive this goal.

Green.hell and J st,

guys, check "Slovenian leagues and cups" and join the competition! We're predicting the results of Si.mobil liga matches. Check topic "Rules" and you'll see everything there is to know.

Hope to see ya both there to make it even more interesting. At the time, 6 of us are in, with two of you, Sergio coming back (he's awesome at predicting) and some other people, we could make it a really tough competition. There'll also be great prizes - as always...

See ya there!

if bati's going to make a huge issue about the #9 jersey then why doesn't he pull a zamorano and wear 1+8? montella was with roma before him and if he's not willing to part with his number then batistuta should have the decency to get over it!

and for the ignorant ones ... montella doesn't take a back seat to NOBODY! not even batistuta. you may think he's better only because he's more prolific - however, he's prolific because he's played 129 more games than montellino. fact is that montella's scoring percentage is slightly better than batgol's so one cannot argue that he's atleast as efficient.

don't be so narrowminded because there are other strikers than batistuta that will do as good a job. montella is certainly one that falls into that category!
