I'm scared of this one a little, Alaves has been doing well in the Uefa cup. One positive thing is that it looks like Ilhan will be back, paired up with Ahmet Dursun those two will do real damage. A lot of people fail to notice how different besiktas is when Ilhan plays. Another thing, how right was I about Pascal Nouma??? that guy is a true waste of time. Besiktas bought the wrong guy.
Alaves is a strong team but this year our squad is strong too..
after 3-4 years today i can say that we can beat them..
in Spain if we will get a score like 1-1,2-2 or lose like 2-1 we will beat them in Inonu easily..

Well Alaves is a struggling team right now, I think they have like 4 points on the season, so their only hope is the Uefa Cup, I hope Besiktas takes care of them, Ankaragucu came close the first time but lost bad away.

Right now I think Besik is better than the struggling Alaves, and I think these two games can go either way but I favor Besiktas to win.

Roberto let me know when a Swedish team does well in anything besides the Winter Olympics.

What a shame Alaves made it 1-1 in 90+3, man that's a heartbreaker cause Besiktas was the better team by far. Lucescu is a genius, I regret ever saying that he wouldn't do as well with Besiktas.

The great Ilhan scores, come on Besiktas be the second to go through after Denizlispor, and then it's time for Fenerbahce.

Eagles Rule !!!!! :D
Looking at the teams that are left in Uefa Cup, I don't see any teams that Besik can't beat, they are playing great, I expect them to go preety far, and with enough luck and motivation.... all the way to the final !!!!!

Right on, gravesends! That's what I like to hear. We will now GLADLY represent all Turks regardless of club affiliations...just like when I supported CIM BOM back in 2000 =)

That is great news! I am glad that Ilhan scored too, after hearing he was not playing well lately...hopefully he is back to his old self. It is great to hear Besiktas is doing well though....they will represent the Turks well.

Thanks Lataralus. Unfortunately the man of the hour got sent off late in the game...we're going to miss him next match =(

yeah i also saw that he got tossed off....what did he do anyways?

Apparently he "reacted badly" to a foul...whatever that means...but the other guy got tossed too so I guess it was fair.

he should have kept his temper I guess, seeing it dosent take much to get tossed. But they should do fine without him. (I hope)
Being a fan of the New England Revolution, i sure know what that is like....during the playoffs it was a rare occasion that we had our 4 top defenders playing...a different one was suspended every game (not good when they are a defensive team in the first place)....and our top scorer was injured for a game....if THEY managed to pull out wins....i think Besiktas can...

I hope so. Actually as much as everyone loves Ilhan (myself included) the glue for us is Sergen. As long as he's healthy and his usual self we'll be fine. The guy's played all over Türkiye bouncing from club to club and FINALLY has the maturity to lead us to something great. I'm pretty sure he started w/ Besiktas so this would be one hell of a full circle! I'm hoping he even gets selected to the national team. He's kinda old (31?) but still very capable. He's certainly paid his dues.

Well, it is good that they have a solid player in Sergen. I dont know if they would name him to the national team at age 31, but if he is still very good, than it is their mistake. Solid players that can lead are always instrumental to a winning team...not just the flashier goal scorer types like Ilhan....although they are useful too (of course!)
Of course you never know what will happen....although the best players arnt playing...and the team may look weaker on paper....but the game isnt played on paper.

The thing with Sergen is he was already selected to the national team for 2002 but didn't recover from knee surgery in time to play in Japan/Korea. For one of Türkiye's best (active) players to miss out in their best-ever football performance seems so unfair. That's why I'd like to see him play in the next Euro but w/ his age and the massive increase in competition he probably won't get selected. Oh well, but there's still Besiktas and hopefully he'll come through for us!

really? that must have been pretty hard on him. kne surgery is hard enough, but having to miss out on the world cup is even worse. The competition is tough, and who knows if he will get a second chance. It would be nice if he did, but all he really can do is play his hardest for Besiktas.
