ok here are just some things about soccer in australia that really need to be done.

1st of all we need into asia. people might say we will never be anygood playing asian teams and that we need to play england france brazil etc. but the fact is. asian teams are getting into the wolrd cup and playing friendlies while we sit and wait for fifa just to say australian is in the WC.

secondly we need to play friendlies in europe so our players can attend the matches!

3rdly a format to help the league in australian. 1st the nsl has to be chucked. create a new name that will create some hype with the right advertising. make it the Australian Premier league. have rewards for the players who play in the nsl> like the chance to play in asia or a club tornement where they could get the chance to be seen.
a good tv deal really needs to be done where you see 2 to 3 live, or delayed by less then 2 hours a week. the nsl has to work at getting the stars of australia to come back home when they are starting to fade. at 34 a mark viduka will always get the public into into the nsl more then some of the things clubs have tried over the past years.

just some idea's and theres plenty more out there. your welcome to gie me your coments whether they be positive or saying im full of crap!

I agree, and I think a lot of people support the first two ideas already, I hope SA sees this and acts accordingly.

As for the NSL, there needs to be changes but it's probably better if we get the Socceroos working properly first, the national team always has a trickle down effect on the local team.

I pretty much agree too. I don't see why the name of the league has to change though but if it attracts people I am all for it.

It would also be good to see some of Australia's big stars spend their twilight years back home but what is more important is keeping in Australia the teenagers and players going overseas to play in the lower divisions of European leagues.

Looney is right, a successful socceroos side is the key. Who cared about the wallabies until they could beat the Kiwis or swimming until Perkins started dominating?

I just watched my first NSL game of the season (Wolves 0, Parramatta 0) and I must confess I was disappointed. If the quality of what was played tonight was the norm I could understand why ch7 wouldn't show it. Lazy long balls all night! The worst part of it was when on the few occasions the Wolves played it on the deck through midfeild they were dangerous and the play was exciting. Please let this be a one-off!

Saw highlights of that match, when they highlights aren't all that interesting there's something wrong with the match!

I think it wouldn't hurt if SA started negotiating TV deals for the good of the game rather than maximising revenue. Next time they get a contract they should consider exactly how much coverage the NSL's going to get.

must of got the wrong game cause i think in the other game last night a kiwi scored 4 goals in a 4-1 win. the good teams in the nsl> perth, sharks, newcastle are z descent watch. the rest can be ordinary. look at melbourne for instance. their 2 biggest crowd bringers at each club both left> porter and the left footer from souths!

I wont argue with you bro about the top three sides but I think the Wolves can join them. They have the talent Ron Corry just needs to get them to be more patient with the ball. I think the Kingz could also improve this season.

You are right Looney. When SA got the seven deal they must not have realised how little would be covered. SA should just bite the bullet: let Seven keep the internationals, take the payout and go on their kness to SBS to get the games shown. Despite the fears that SBS is too "woggy" to promote interest in soccer, the World Cup and the English Premier League all get good support and ratings on SBS.

Yeah we have lost most of the team which won the title under Theodorokopolis. But there are some very good players brought in who are young and have a lot of potential like Naum Sekulovski, Dustin Wells and Jacob Timpano and senior players like Young, Huxley and Cervinski who can lead the team around.
