2002/2003 FC Barcelona prediction league

[Bier]

I thought when predicting then results of a team we got a clue of. ;)

Rules are as follows:
-The result is to be predicted (for example Barça 2 Atletico 2). The example would have brought 2 points since the tendency (draw) and the goal-quantity where predicted right.
-In case only the tendency is predicted right (1:1 for example) you get 1 point.
-If the tendency is predicted wrong does neither win a point nor lose one :)
-Since "El Derbi" (FC Barcelona-Real Madrid) is such an important match it finds it's importance as well in our game, where the player can win the double amount of points (4 or 2 in that case) by predicting it right
-Every player starts the season with 5 points
-The player who collected the most points during the season is Champion and does not win a price since I am one poor student. ;) :D
-the prediction league 2002/03 starts with matchday two ... if a player wants to join later she/he starts with 4 points. No more then 20 predictors will be accepted since I haven't got the time to correct the prediction of more players.
-Predictions have to be made before the match kicks off, and are not allowed to be edited after once being predicted ( a ban from the game awaits those who don't respect that rule ... sounds awesome eh ;) :D ).
-Not predicting a match will have the same effect like predicting wrong, no win and no loss
-In case one of you isn't around for some weeks, she/he can predict the matches for those weeks already before by sending me a PM
-As official sign-in is counts predicting a Barça-match in this thread

Riquelme gets the in our half and plays a genius high ball on the left wing to Luis Enrique who takes the ball down with ease has time and space to look into the penalty-area and gives a perfectly timed cross, beating keeper and defence and meeting Kluivert's flying headball to end up in the empty net. Breathtaking goal ... that's what I use to call Barça football.

2:0 ... Luis Enrique has the ball near the penalty area, fakes a walkthrough but passes the ball on the left wing to Navarro and positionates himself around the penalty spot between two defender and fellow team mate Patje. Navarro's cross perfectly finds Lucho's head and leaves the keeper with no chance.

I think that you could renew the system, cos the result is always harder to guess. 1 point for the tendency, 1 point for our goals and a point for opponents goals. Example: I predicted that we win 2-1 at Ali Sami Yen and we won 2-0 -> 1 point for our victory plus 1 point for our goals = 2 points. It seems easy to guess the tendency right but the score is much harder so I think getting 2 points for the right score would be good. (example: if i had placed a bet for Barca win in the game, the multiplier would have been 2.40 but the 0-2 victory would've had about 15-20)

So max. points per game is 3. The points would remain as they are but from now on the renewal would be applied. This would also be fairer system for those who guess a score right and after that a game wrong (Example Zul guessed the first score right, second game right, third wrong and now he's behind me cos I got all of the three tendencies right). Comments for the suggestion.

Cool suggestion. It's fine with me but I wanna hear some of the other's oppinions before starting this. So if the others agree to that I'll change the rules before our next CL-match and count like this from then on. :)
But apart from the new points one can get, there should still be a loss of a point when the tendency is wrong. Any thoughts?

Fine by me its just a game. But I don't think you should lose points. Say I predicted a gala win 3-2 I should get one point rather than none. Either way I'm easy.

Well, IMO the tendency is most important, therefor I wouldn't like to give points when the tendency isn't right. But we can also talk about the loss of points maybe that a point only gets lost by not predicting, and predicting the tendency wrong simply won't earn points or something like that.

hollowi has a point when he says that it's a lot easier to guess the winner than the score, so when you guess the score right you get extra points, it's a good rule!

ANOTHER SUGGESTION:
Maybe we could guess on the goalscorer(s), and either win 3 points or lose 3 points if the guess is right or wrong. It's a risk, so maybe it could be up to either player if they wanted to guess and take that risk.

Absolutely right ... such a case should not happen and wouldn't have happened if Zul wouldn't have lost a point by wrong predicting that one game.

I intend to have two ratings from the next month on ... the usual rating we all know and a second one which is a monthly rating, seeing every poster starting from 0 every month, for that we can crown a monthly champion. These are the reasons for my intended inventions: I expect this to bring a even more spice into the game and I can use the history section at the games homepage. ;)

Anybody who agrees or disagrees with that idea? Your opinion is appreciated. :)

Nice idea. I really don't get the rules though. Say you predict a Barca win but get the score wrong. If Barca win, do you still get points even though you get the score wrong? :confused:

In that case you get one point when Barça won and 2 points when Barça won with the result you've predicted.
relejado for example gets 2 points for the Lok match. :)

I dunno what it is but Rod has that certain something that makes him know things before they happen. We've been best of friends now for more then ten years and such things always happen to him. When collecting trading cards he permanently predicts a player he'll get in the next pocket right ... same with goalscorers. Or when we play Championship Manager he always knows whom to substitute to score the goals. That's awesome.

gnlvagosov, I think that the line-ups won't be announced until late saturday. Barça are missing Lucho and Navarro while Real captain Hierro is also injured, that's what I know. So Barça will probably use Puyol, De Boer, maybe Reiziger, Xavi, Cocu, Overmars, Riquelme, Mendieta, Saviola and Kluivert. I'm really not sure about Real, maybe Salgado, R Carlos, Helguera, then one CD I really don't know, Makelele, Cambiasso, Figo, Zizou, Raul and Ronaldo. Keepers will probably be Bonano and Iker Casillas.

Barcelona could start with Motta in left wing replacing him with Overmars in some point of the game. Hopefully LvG tries to use Overmars the whole game because he's a lot better than Motta. And I think he began (full?) training in wednesday so he could be fully available for the game.
