Yes, that's the plural form of the word. I started this thread so that we Ajax fans can pay tribute to two of our great players. Christian Chivu and Rafael van der Vaart have grabbed the Eredivisie Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year awards respectively. Congrats to both of our young stars on their well deserved accolades. Who knows, the way van der Vaart is playing already this season he could nab the Player of the Year award for next season! :D

Chivu and van de vaart, who is better, according to you?

Are you asking my opinion, or just ripping on me?

he he, just asked, AZULGRANA.
Coz, Ajax's captain - with left defender position - i heard about him not much, so i don't know how he played to crown "Footballer of the Year"

Well, let's put it this way. He's was rumoured to be Real Madrid's second favorite transfer target after Ronaldo. He's the real deal. I hope when he leaves Ajax, he goes to Barca.

Chivu goes to Barca, Van Der Vaart can come to Milan! Good deal?

As an Ajax fan I have to say no. He`s the best player we have so I would like him to stay as long as possible. :)
By the way, Rafael van der Vaart seems to be preferring the Spanish league. No offence.
I think he would only leave Ajax for a really big team, like Barcelona, Real Madrid or maybe Valencia.
So I`m not saying that he would turn down Milan, but if he could go to a big Spanish team to, he probably will join the Spanish team.
And he will be worth it, trust me. :)

I'd love to see him at Barca. Both he and Chivu. I think the possibility is there, but Barca have massive debts and couldn't afford both at the same time unless they sold first. Barca has a lot of deadwood I'd like to clear out anyway.

VDV to Milan? No way! He'd never go. Besides, you have Rui, Rivaldo, Pirlo, Seedorf and Serginho who all play positions he could potentially occupy. Besides, I'm sure he'd prefer Barca.
as an ajax fan i have to say that neither of them leaves for now! i really feel this team can go somewhere in the CL, if not this season, maybe next! BUt i really want this team to stick for a few years, i hope it doesn't happen like in the past, where everyone ended up going to barca!
but honestly, chivu fits very well in roma alongside the wall and Van der vaart beside totti and cassano!

I think you are right, if this Ajax can keep all their key players, they could become a major contender for the CL.
I`m scared that it will never come that far, Chivu and Van der Vaart won`t stay for more than two years, especcialy Chivu probably not.
Although he looks happy playing for Ajax, there are more issues. Money for example, and a bigger league, and ofcourse the players manager and the influences of his rollmodel Hagi, who wants him to join a bigger team in a bigger league.
Van der Vaart looks very bright with good help from his family, I think he is wise enough to choose the right moment to leave. His personal development will tell when he will leave. Nowadays a lot of good young players think more like: Ok I`m 19 now, I stay here for two years and than go abroad. Not taking longterm injuries into their consideration. Big chance they won`t succeed outside Holland.
Van der Vaart is already a very smart and responsible man, who won`t make this mistake. (He won`t fail, he is already to good for that) He wants to go when he is sure he can make such a huge impact as he does in Holland in almost every match. When he goes to Spain, he wants to stand out in almost every game, giving his talent and will to succeed I think he will.
