Let's discuss Zac's tenure at the club.
Milan won the scudetto last year :) The main reason for this, at least in my opinion was the changing of the formation to a 3-4-1-2. Boban was put in the position of the playmaker and things all fell into place. Zac has gotten the credit for this move, but it was a move called for all season long by Weah and Leonardo among others on the team. Boban had a free role to do what he wanted, and he did it very well. The offence started to click and the midfield was much more organized with Zorro playing a central role. We won the scudetto and the rest is history.
This season there has been many problems between Zac and key players on the team. Weah is gone basically because of Zac. Boban's problems with Zac have been well documented. Leo has had his problems with Zac as well.
On the flip side, there are players who are happier than anything to have Zac coaching Milan. If it wasn't for Zac, Helveg wouldn't be here. Here is a player who is absolutely useless on the pitch, yet for 1.5 years he was never in danger of losing his starting spot. Bierhoff, another one of Zac's signings doesn't lose his spot either. Here is a player who is great with his head, no doubt. Here is also a player who doesn't run for the ball, doesn't come back to help, and basically can't score without his head. He also had the nerve to complain that he wasn't getting good enough service to score goals.
Zac had problems with the only two in midfield that had creativity, and especially Boban who is one of the most important players on this team. He was quite content to let Sheva run all over the field and work hard, all the while, Bierhoff did nothing and complained. He didn't even give West a chance at the back, instead insisted on Chamot, who isn't bad, but isn't the answer at the back. He gave basically no respect to Rossi, which lead Rossi to blow up in the dressing room, leading to his banishment from the team.
I remember one game he took Leo off around the 20th minute. Leo wasn't playing great that game, but wasn't playing bad either, and he couldn't even wait until half time to sub him off. What a horrible thing that was to do to any player.
He got rid of two TRUE Milanisti in Rossi and Weah and tried to get rid of another in Boban.
I say screw Zac and get the hell out of Milan. We'll be more than happy to have Malesani next year.
