Believe it or not, Marcelino has actually put in some solid performances (albeit against amateurs!). This might sound controversial but some people (on the local footie phone ins) think he could be a shock contender for a starting role in some games, perhaps the CL qualifiers (if injuries persist).Dabizas is now injured and Bramble is still recovering from an operation and he also needs to get match fit

btw, do you actually remember Marcelino having a bad game? The few games he has played have not been disastrous. It's just the fact he seems permanently injured with a broken finger.

It wasn't so long ago Marcelino had Vieri in his back pocket against Lazio in a Euro cup final a few years back and was an automatic starter for Spain. How things have changed.

HA HA HA, this is crazy Marcelino talk, I think I need to cut down on the beers:D

It was Gullit's fault, not player he signed seemed to be fit at all, and we should always blame Gullit anyway.

Yeah Gulitt and Dogliesh tried their best to destroy our team, and almost got us relegated. All Dogliesh needed to do was buy two central defenders and we would have won the league no problem. Some of the crap they bought amazed me.

Remember our reject Maric? He's the best player in the Croatian league at the moment (according to the guys on the Croatia team forums). He could be on his way to Italy if keeps his form up. He said he wants to play for Milan as it was the club of his idol Zvonimir Boban. Rivaldo and now Maric? The nightmate coukd get worse for you looney:D

Btw JJ and Chops played the full 90 mins for England U-21's.

Looks like Hugo is fitting in nicely but the injuries seem to be piling up. We better employ Dr Steadmen full time just incase

When will we play decent opposition?

How many players has come to Newcastle and flopped and then play great elsewhere? Maric, Tomasson, Saha etc... Seriously there must be something wrong with the water!

Barcelona coach Louis van Gaal has vowed to field his best team in next week's showpiece friendly against Newcastle United.
Van Gaal insists the starting XI he selects at St James' Park next Tuesday will be close to the line-up which began the second half of Barca's 2-0 pre-season win over Lausanne in Switzerland last weekend.
And that means new signings Gaizka Mendieta and Juan Roman Riquelme, as well as long-established stars like Patrick Kluivert, will be on show.
"In Newcastle, you will see my first XI," said van Gaal. "It will be my Champions League team.
"We are learning fast as a team but we must test ourselves against stronger rivals like Newcastle, Parma and Ajax.
"We have done well in pre-season so far, but against teams like that, we will really see if our system is working."

I just got my tickets for the game, Roll on Barca!

HAHAHAHAHA!!!

What do you think of Paddy Kluivert now Looney? You're probably praying what he told the Newcastle website is true. NO CHANCE! You'd better hope you lot dont' make the CL, otherwise you could encounter the bulls on parade that Barca are gonna be this season!

HAHAHAHAHA! Looney! HAHAHA!!

ps--I just came here to gloat to Looney. No offense all. Newcastle's a nice club. Country club maybe! :D ;)

Actually, Barca's grand tradition is getting knocked out in the semis. Kinda like how Newcastle always get to the semis of the League Cup and get knocked out.

League Cup Semis??? I can't remember the last time Newcastle got to the semis! Maybe it's because I don't give a crap about the League Cup but eh...

Just wait til the real matches come along!

I believe so:

"Their gesture was truly marvellous. Without their support and that of Gazza and United's Heroes club in the past this club would be bankrupt now and closed.

"Premier League clubs are often accused of only looking after themselves but this was the perfect example of big brother looking after little brother"

Great, now we're Big Brother? Next time we play Mackems: "Attention Mackem Scum, this, is Big Brother, you are evicted from the premiership."
