Manfredini deal cancelled

Chievo announced last week that Christian Manfredini was officially a Lazio player, but Lazio didn't appreciate the way Chievo had acted, and the deal has now been cancelled.

Lazio and Chievo had reached a deal and every contract had been signed, but Lazio told Chievo to not send the papers to the football federation until Lazio had solved some other transfers. Among these other transfer, the move of Chievo's Brazilian Eriberto. Lazio wanted to sign both, but since no deal had been reached with the Brazilian, Lazio wanted to wait with Manfredini as well.

Chievo didn't respect Lazio's wish and Lazio have now cancelled the deal. The news was officially given by the football federation.

However, Chievo do probably have the right on their side as every contract was signed, and Chievo has said that they will now call in lawyers to make sure that the deal will take place anyway.

According to close sources to Lazio, there is a similar situation between Lazio and Barcelona. The Catalan club should already have signed everything for the pruchase of Gaizka Mendieta, but have then asked Lazio to cancel it or at least wait before announcing it. The Roman club have, unlikely from Chievo with Manfredini, respected the other club's wish.

Well, Manfredini was good last season, but we need to start selling players before we can buy players for 10 million $. However, I am a little dissapo9nted because I think Sorin and Manfredini on the left sounds great.

Because I feel Deki should stay on the left, he was amazing there last season, so why change it?

Chievo thanked last week Christian Manfredini for his time at the club and wished him good luck for his new adventure at Lazio. But Lazio has cancelled the deal because Lazio thought Chievo had not acted properly.

Lazio president Sergio Cragnotti explains what happened: "Campedelli (Chievo president) and I had signed three transfer contracts and when the agreement had been found with all three players the contracts were going to be given to the football federation to officialize the move of the players. The players we are talking about are Manfredini and Eriberto from Chievo and our Pesaresi who was going to move to Chievo as part exchange. But while we were still negotiating with Eriberto for his contract, Campedelli chose to send only Manfredini's contract to the FA. It was unfair and not what we had shaked hands for. All the three players were part of the same deal and that is why the deal is cancelled. Campedelli is threatening to leave the world of football because of this? Well, he should first learn to keep agreements and then leave football."

Sorin and Castroman will be the wingers for the new season.
