Ronaldo has poured more cold water on what would have been the hottest transfer deal of the summer by confirming he has not been contacted by Real Madrid.
The Inter Milan striker, resting in Brazil after his brilliant World Cup, backed up the claims of his agent just 24 hours before that the Spanish giants had not made an approach.
Real Madrid were rumoured to be hunting Ronaldo as their superstar purchase of the summer, following the arrivals of Luis Figo and Zinedine Zidane in the last two close seasons.
"From what I've heard, Real Madrid have not been in contact with me or my agents. They could have spoken to Inter Milan, but that would be a question for president Morratti," he told Marca.
As well as squashing the rumours of a move to the Bernabeu, the man whose eight goals at the World Cup claimed his occasionally rocky relationship with the Inter chief had been repaired.
He was determined to repay the loyalty Moratti had shown over the last two years, during which the two-time World Player of the Year has been largely unavailable through injury.
"Everything has been solved, because nothing special happened. Moratti has had faith in me for a long time and I owe him all the loyalty in the world."
"He was always at my side when I have had difficult moments with continual serious injuries and there is no way I can betray him now."
"I can't betray him, nor my team-mates or the Inter Milan supporters," he insisted.
The striker was also unfazed by rumours Inter had slapped a £64m price tag on him to scare off any potential buyers.
"It's not something I am worried about, because I have a contract with Inter and therefore I shouldn't think about other things. I want to be calm and think there is no reason for circumstances to change," he said.
However, when pressed, Ronaldo did have words of praise for Madrid.
"I have said before that Real Madrid are a great club and one of the best in the world, but they have their squad and I have my team and that team is Inter."
