PSV Eindhoven have rejected an apparent bid for Mark Van Bommel from Arsenal that included Nigerian striker Nwankwo Kanu plus cash.

Arsenal have been linked with the midfielder for many months as Patrick Vieira's future has been uncertain and now Freddie Ljunjberg is set to miss the start of the season through injury.

However PSV president Harry van Raaij told the Daily Mail:
"What do I want with Kanu when I have Kezman, Venegoor of Hesselink, Bruggink and De Jong?

"PSV do not exist to solve Arsenal's problems."

Roberto Abrego

this will also boost his chances of getting a NT spot at France.

Always Laziali

Roberto Abrego

that shit called Frank Lebouf was 34....

Always Laziali
07-13-2002, 01:48 AM

Rafael van der Vaart is the latest player to be linked with Arsenal. Julius Aghahowa is a target aswell.

Always Laziali
07-16-2002, 02:16 PM
we don't need them . We just need 2 players this season , Van Bommel and Hofland . Both of them want to join Arsenal and Arsenal want them .

Roberto Abrego
07-16-2002, 08:32 PM
it will be hard to get Hofland, beacuse we just bought Cygan....

it will be awesome to have Van der Vaart, but I am sure he is not coming he will stay some more time at Ajax..

We dont need Agahowa we have many strikers his playing time will be extremly little..

Always Laziali
07-16-2002, 10:33 PM
But Hofland and Van Bommel are linked to Arsenal quite a number of times this season

Roberto Abrego
07-17-2002, 04:27 AM

Van Bommels Rumour is getting stronger!

I hope we sign Rami Shaaban he is the 1st choice GK of DIF and is on trial with us!

JD

I'm glad2 hear som1 who knows r8s Rami Shabaan (I'm assuming u have seen him 4 Djurgarden)
l8st rumours are Emre in january -(possible but we already have Pires, Ljungberg, Viera, Gilberto, Wiltord, Toure, Parlour, Van Bronckhurst, Edu and Pennant as 1st team midfielders competing for 4spaces!) and Ronaldo - which seems to b 100% based on Gilberto Silva saying he would like to play with his friend at Arsenal!

Cygan has been awesome (esp coming of the bench against PSV and at home to Sunderland) and can't be far from a French NT call up although Gallas and Dessailly were brilliant against Slovenia (France doing an Arsenal with only 1 white outfield player!)
I don't think Christanval is anywhere near the player he was at Monaco -every time I have seen him in Barca colours he has been very dodgy and nervous. cygan must be next in the queue after the Chelsea centre backs.

He's in his 30's, not point signing him.Sorenson would be a much better buy, although i'd like to see Arsenal get Recber in the summer,he'll be on a Bosman so it'd be a good signing

Emre won't be sold,Arsenal couldn't afford him anyway. But if they did get him,he'd walk into the team beside Vieira in the centre of midfield.

Cygan next in line behind the Chelsea lads?????that's really funny, really it's hilarious.Mexes and Boumsong are both ahead of him,so is silvestre and Thuram and Petit can both play centre-back if needed,Cygan is crap anyway,he was shown up for being poor by United and Carew showed everyone how slow Cygan on Tuesday night.Djetou and Cristinval are prob ahead of him as well.Neway Cygan will be back on the bench as soon as Keown is 100%.

rüstü will leave fenerbahce.this is a fact.he doesnt play for a while for getting fit.he also said that he wish he had left fenerbahce before season starting...you know manchester wanted him before worldcup.
now fener bids for swedish gk;asper.

zdravkov is a good gk.but never the best.he did well in istanbulspor but never successed, got a chance to play for big teams in Turkiye.

i also heard arsenal bids for bastürk.he will also be free in leverkusen in summer.
arsenal wanted alexander ýordanov from my fav team Kocaelispor
after kocaelispor had beated full-squaded Arsenal 4-1 in friendly cup last season beginning.but we didnt sell:D

kocaelispor beated arsenald 4-1 and won the money reward also.
arsenal got the top in premier league last season.and this made me very happy because then i believed we brought arsenal the sake, luck.that is also must be believed by arsene wenger because he wanted to play a friendly match with kocaelispor very much at this season begining but we didnt accept arsenals offer:D

Istanbulspor return for Zdravkov
Friday, 10 January 2003
Bulgarian international goalkeeper Zdravko Zdravkov has rejoined Istanbulspor AS from PFC Cherno More Varna.

Experienced professional
Istanbulspor general manager Sinan Dinler announced today that the experienced goalkeeper has returned to his old club on a two-and-a-half year contract having already played for the Turkish outfit for almost four years.

International pedigree
Zdravkov played for the club between 1996 and 2001 but took a season out in 1999 to play for their Super Lig rivals Adanaspor AS. The goalkeeper has also made 34 appearances for Bulgaria.

Disappointing displays
Istanbulspor moved to sign Zdravkov after being disappointed with the performance of their goalkeepers in the first half of the season. As they moved into the winter break, the club were in 14th place in the table, just two places above the relegation zone.

everywhere is the (Saint) Marcos (Brasil+Palmeiras WC and Copa Libertadores winning keeper) link - palmeiras on v. dodgy form (he's been heavily criticised) other linked players are
Rebrov (would be v funny + I've always thought he is quality but how many strikers do we need?)
Cisse (statement from player - want 2play in prem friends with Henry,Pires,Viera and Superbobby)
Overmars (should Barca really be SELLING their players right now??)

rebrov - NO
cisse - no
overmars - no

The Rule
01-22-2003, 03:09 PM
Marcos would a good signing, but Rustu would be a better one
Rebrov-why would you want a reserve team player from spurs?
Cisse-if he wants to join you then sign the boy now,Bergkamp won't be around for much longer(next season likely to be his last)and Cisse and Henry would be great together
Overmars-why?are you selling Freddie or Pires?can we have them please??we'll give you Biscan!!

rshepherd1000
01-22-2003, 03:27 PM
the problem i have with marcos is he is brazilian. wenger is already whining that gilberto has to go to play china so why sign another one of them?

cant be bothered to explain reasons why no to rebrov and overmars

as for freddie - the only way hes leaving would be to part finance a deal for trezeguet in the summer (an unlikely deal but possible) in which case i think dalmat is the preferred replacement NOT smicer lol :D

im still hoping we can get reyes as bergkamps replacement, although we do have some decent young players of our own coming through

JD
01-22-2003, 07:30 PM
y is every1 so down on rebrov - his CL record is amazing
in the right team he could be gr8 again (what was his Kiev nickname lifesaver or something ?-it was to do with last minute goals he scored tons of them)
we do have a lot of strikers already though.
Overmars is quality but again we would have to sell to fit him into our squad
Freddie does hang around with a lot of italians maybe he's attracted by the idea of serie A (he's a fashion buff so i imagine he would prefer a milan club to juve - torino's dead)
reyes hasn't really lived up to the hype (yet) seville wanted over £10M! i've only seen him play 90mins a couple of times but he's been in and out of the games I've watched - I'd rather Makaay or VdV but david bentley impressed me a lot in his cameo appearance against Oxford maybe he can be the one?

rule there's no way hooflier would ever sign our players they r too good he prefers the average (and if he did they would sit on the bench until they got bored and left - your longball tactics would just bypass SuperBobby and freddy like they did Litmanen)

rebeli
01-22-2003, 07:51 PM
Rebrov and marcos we dont need.

Rustu and Cisse would be excellent additions

JD
01-22-2003, 08:12 PM
- how gr8 would it be if Rebrov absolutely smashed it at Arsenal though?

total humiliation for the Hoddler
marcos I'm less sure about - I seem to remember a seamanesque lob from the halfwayline against bolivia (could have been la paz highest stadium in the world - maybe he was lightheaded - the bolivians have a gr8 record at home) BigPhil scolari (who was his coach at palmeiras when they won the southamerican champions league as well as for Brasil when they won the WC) didn't know he was being recorded - he was going mental about how the bolivians had 7midgets and they r ripping us apart!! classically funny.

marcos only let in 4 in 7 in the WC (was v good in the final and against belgium) but has apparently been booed by Palmeiras fans for playing crap recently (2pens conceded in 1 game I heard)

brasil will probably have dida as number 1 soon anyway he's on top form for Milan 9would be even more annoying to have players going away to sit on the bench though!)

Rustu was brilliant in the world cup - I never know with keepers - a lot is down to confidence and form
Cisse is a nutter (Dennis Rodman of french football) but I love a bit of eccentricity- Hasselbainkesque shooting power (and greed)- but will i'm sure develop in2 a top player. having said that we have so many strikers - I'd like 2 c Bentley and Aliadiere from the youth team given a shot

i dont mean reyes as an immediate replacement, just someone for the future (10mill is a bit ridiculous) - i hear he has some learning difficulties though so might be hard for him in a foreign country

i agree 100% with you about bentley JD - he was very promising when he came on v. oxford - and i remember seeing him do well for the england u-19s - nice little article on him in the current gooner too

JD, you do like Makkay don't you?

Bentley got an article in 4-4-2 some time ago(that boys a bit special) and from what i've heard is a great talent. VDV would be more of a midfield partner for Vieira rather than a replacement for Bergkamp.

can't see freddie going anywhere,London seems to suit him.

loved Makaay ever since tenerife (I remember a brilliant game against madrid where he came off the bench and scored2 - RM scored one of the best team goals I'd seen in years that game amillion passes then a raul lob)

Bentley was captain of the team that tanked liverpool last season. He looked unbelievably confident (to the point of arrogance) against oxford, but it was just Oxford

I hope Freddy stays -he's on course 2do his standard return from injury score in every game and win Arsenal the league trick (hope Scholes isn't stealing his mantle!)

Arsène Wenger plays down Marcos speculation

Wenger speaks to Arsenal.com
Arsène Wenger has talked exclusively to Arsenal.com regarding the recent speculation linking the Club to Brazilian goalkeeper Marcos.

In a video interview with Arsenal.com, the Gunners manager revealed that Marcos is not the only 'keeper Arsenal are monitoring in their search to find cover for the injured Rami Shaaban.

"We haven't signed anybody and we have not signed Marcos. All news of signings is premature," said Wenger.

He added: "There are talks and Marcos is one of the players we are interested in, but it is much too early. The decision has not been made and negotiations haven't really started."

GOOD - now start negotiating with paul robinson

Well here in Brazil all the papers are saying today that Marcos is in London in order to sign contract with Arsenal. Palmeiras should get 4 Mi. US$ in this deal.

About this game with Palemiras in La Paz that you mentioned: in the previouws game Palmeiras won easily against this bolivian club (called The Strongest) in Sao Paulo. I think it was 5x0 or somenthing like that. So in the middle of the second half MArcos was able to drink a cup of coffee in the field. It was ridiculous and there were photos in all papers the next day. But in the returned game Palemiras lost in La Paz and they made this goal from halfwayline (as you said) - and all the team from The Strongest celebrate for about 5 minutes simulating that they were drinking also coffee.....

Well who will play next for the national team of Brazil is dificult to answer...I think the favorite now is Rogerio (tahat plays for Sao Paulo FC), but Dida and Marcos are also strong possibilities....

the should play Taylor, they 'd have Seaman and Joe Stack(future irish number 1) as back-ups til Shaaban gets back(or is he out for the season)and then get Recber in the summer and tell the porn-star that his "services are no longer required"

"Arsene Wenger has revealed that Marcos will not be joining Arsenal before the end of this season as the Brazilian goalkeeper must first sort out his personal life.
Arsenal had been hoping the Brazil stopper would agree to join immediately, providing cover for David Seaman for the rest of this season before contesting the number one jersey thereafter. However, he has flown back to South America."

I guess we will have to wait until next season

if he's not going to sign him now he shouldn't bother,Rustu and Sorenson will both be available in the summer and both are better than Marcos

Arsenal's fox in the box, 22 year old Francis Jeffers, is reportedly considering a move back to his old club Everton. The striker has rarely been a starter for Arsenal and wants more first team action, which, he is likely to get in a move to Goodison Park.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger today admitted that he made an enquiry into the availability of former Leeds defender Jonathan Woodgate prior to his £9m move to Newcastle.

The 23 year-old defender sealed his switch to Tyneside only hours before the close of the January transfer window and the Arsenal boss revealed that Woodgate was a player he would have liked to bring in to bolster his side's push for the title.

Wenger, speaking in an interview for French radio, was quoted as saying "Woodgate is one player who in particular we looked at seriously over the transfer period. He is young, strong and has a great future ahead of him".

However Wenger also expressed concerns over the player's willingness to leave his native North-East, as well as the price he was quoted by the Leeds Chairman Peter Ridsdale. He said: "People tell me that Leeds were frustrated by Woodgate as he would not move to the city, and besides I was told directly that it would take £13.5m to get him. Maybe he (Ridsdale) believed we have more money than Newcastle!"

Wenger refused to be drawn on whether he thought that Newcastle had paid over the odds for the 6ft defender, simply adding that "to spend £9m on a player at this stage of the season was not an option for us".

It is widely thought that the Frenchman would have dearly loved to partner Woodgate and Campbell in a formidable back line, but had neither the time nor the inclination to sell a member of his squad in order to finance the deal.

fact Gallas may come on2 market soon may also have influenced him (£7M instead of £13.5M for a better player imo)
I think we need a centre back - although Ryan Garry was quite impressive (apart from one error) captaining England U20s against ze Germans this week.

Frenchies and the Toon just don't mix. Charvet, Guivarch, Distin, Dumas, Terrier etc , and Benard until this summer turned out to be mercenaries.

Hopefully the same effect isn't applicable to L.Robert. He was born on Reunion Island, so the mercenary disease may only reflect the mainland (as far as the Toon is concerned).

I'M OVER THE MOON WE GOT WOODY. I'm glad we're buying up and coming British talent that wont request a transfer/moan at the press at the drop of a hat

Btw, I noticed Upson got called up which us strange considering he's played nationwide football for most of the season

I really would like to see Rustu Recber defending Gunner's goal. He is better keeper than Oliver Kahn. He will prove this to everyone if he goes to Arsenal. Everyone saw him play brilliantly in the World Cup 2002 but he could not do his best because he played injured (twisted ankle and a hurt shoulder) during the entire WC2002. At his fittest it would be boring to watch Arsenal games for the opposition fans, and they will only get frustrated. Unless the Arsenal defense gets extremely bad, Arsenal fans will hardly see 1 goal in their end of the soccer pitch.
