Van Halst is rumoured to be going to AA Gent in Belgium.
Long time no see fellas
i was reading the posts on david mendes da silva, and yes i do think it's a smart thing to loan him, considering the injuries we have....... but then again think about sonkaya - what does he play?
soccer fanatic
12-27-2002, 06:10 PM
Sonkaya is also a central defender, just like Mendes da Silva, but Da Silva is more promising for the future, we loaned him with an option too buy, he will have to proof it. we will lose Chivu soon, so we need a replacement, frank de Boer is nice for a year, but with the purchase of Mendes da Silva we are also looking good for the future. sonkaya, I don`t know if we need him, but Ajax always follows a lot of players, so perhaps he isn`t the highest on the shortlists of the scouts. time will tell.
But I see your point, if we get Mendes da Silva we don`t need Sonkaya that much, since we are also likely to get Frank de Boer.
Then again, Frank de Boer isn`t getting any younger. I notice kniw that an extrsa high quality defender wouldn`t be useless.

I really don't want him to leave Ajax.

No it is not true. :)
Be sure of it.
VDV needs just a short chat with Litmanen or to watch a single sleep inducing dull Liverpool match to make his decsioon - 2go2 Liverpool would be madness for a player of VDV's quality - Hoofllier would prob play him up front on his own (rotating his place with owen and smicer so he only plays 1/3 of the matches) and expect him to hold the ball up when recieving 100mph 60yard hoofed passes!

Machlas is looking for another club still. He claims he only wants to go to a decent club. He also says if he doesn't find one, he'd like to get more playing time at Ajax. I say we try and offload him to an English club. I think many of them are looking to buy in January and that he'd take any one of the Premiership teams if they came a callin'.

Jan van Halst will join Vitesse Arnhem inmediately, he signed a contract for 1 year and six months. :)
Since besides being a supporter for Ajax I`m also a Vitesse supporter, this makes me very happy. This is good for both parties, as well as Jan van Halst himself.
This move was a shocker too me.
yes quite a shocker really!
well that's done so now on to the next obstacle...... injuries!

I think the list is shortening. :)
Heitinga, Sikora and O'Brien (almost fit I think?) are all I can think of, but I`m sure there are more.
Probably some goalies too. :(
Lobont?
As soon as the competition starts again the injuries will come back with the same high amount as allways. :(

Trabelsi has been linked to Arsenal.
Zlatan has been linked with AS Roma again. Roma's psycho President Sensi:
"After we have reinforced the defence then the club will concentrate on the strike force and I promise that in June we will have Ibrahimovic, "Ibrahimovic is the player of the future."
hey hey hey! sensi maybe a psycho, but he's right about one thing: zlatan is the player of the future! if he does leave ajax, may it be to the one and only AS Roma

i was only kidding, I have the same problem on the Barca forum. But it can get annoying if Ajax players are rumoured and everybody is talking like they already left. If it is just one I can live with it, but all the important players of our selection makes it a bit difficult.
I mean, I want my team too perform well, but if everybody is leaving it isn`t possible anymore, so I have no problem that when a player leaves others are happy, but when they are still here, I would like too think that thewy still are ajax players.
On different forums I saw line ups including players like Chivu and VDV. :( Understandable, but if people are actually talking like that on the Ajax forums it gets kind of painfull.
know what I mean?
Ofcourse I`m not mad about it. How can I?, Barney just won the embassy. :D

Trabelsi is making waves. Well, his agent anyway. Seems he thinks he's underpaid too. His contract goes until 2004. May have to sell him soon or risk losing him on a free. I think he wants to move on.

This thing with Trabelsi contract isn@t a short term problem like VDv, this was going on for a year. Trabelsi got a contrract but nobody inside Ajax expected Trabelsi too become such a good first team player in so litle time, they thought he first would have too play with the reserves. so the contract he signed wasn@t one of a first team player. Ajax knows that but with the financial slump the want too keep the costs down, since Ajax has a lot of contract players.
I think though that Ajax should really hurry with improving the contract otherweise he will leave on free transfer in 2004.
I mean, he is important too us, although with the currently injured Heitinga we have a more than decent replacement.
Same for him as for VDV, he deserves an improved contract.

Ajax player Didulica will leave Ajax on a free transfer at the end of the year, negotiations didn`t work out about a new contract, he earlier stated he wanted too leave and now he will.
We won `t miss him but he is a great goalie.
We still have Stekelenburg and Lobont. :smoking:

You summed up Trabelsi's situation nicely.
He does deserve a pay rise. Thing is, I think he really wants to use this situation to leave the club for a club that can pay him even more than Ajax can.

He wants too pressure Ajax, well his agent does. But now interest is looming he could leave,, since almost nobody except perhaps in Ajax case VDV and Chivu can and will refuse Arsenal for example.
I think he would love too stay, but he could be very upset by the long time this is happening.
I was very impressed by Trabelsi at the WC
thought he was probably the best rightback in the tournament
(Tony Sanneh was excellent too)
but Wenger has a lot of faith in Lauren, Luzhny and Volz (German u19 capyain and Arsenal youth player).
Having said that we are frequently being linked with rightbacks
Stephen Carr whose contract talks with Sperz have stalled has been linked many times as has Sanneh. As I mentioned I would like to see Trabelsi at Arsenal (he must speak french which would make things easier how old is he?) but Wenger has stated we now (after buying Warmuz!) have the 'perfect squad'.
Talking of right backs I like finnan at Fulham although Titi and Pires gave him a lot of problems yesterday

Manchester City scouts were at the Dutch match against Argentina appearently too scout Andy van der Meyde, our 23 year old winger. Van der Meyde appears too be in the interest of many other clubs too, it is also rumoured Ajax would like too keep him but on the right bid willing too let him go.
They didn`t see Van der Meyde in action though, because of a head injury he got from colliding with I think it was Van Persie from Feyenoord, he wasn`t fit too play.

Its a good player but for the right price I wouldn`t be too upset if he went, I mean, he performs better on the left than on the right and seeing we have a better player as left winger (Boukhari) the loss would be possible too deal with. But only if the price is right.

I think if we offer Trabelsi a raise we would do good business, Trabelsi is already a bit older and will get less attractive too purchase every year.
If we give him the right salary we might be able too keep him for longer, he seems too be a player who is between Ajax and the serious world topteams, this could mean teams don`t want too take the risk too purchase him, resulting he could stay for a long time.
I think he would do well at Arsenal but I think it just won`t be recognized since Trabelsi gets not as much chances too show his class in matches, because for example he plays for a smaller NT and that he plays in a league with few really challenging matches, no offense ofcourse too the minor Dutch teams.

He or Lobont was the oldest in the starting line up against Feyenoord last sunday. The average age was 21. We could enter the olympics with that, just replace Trabelsi with Heitinga and Lobont with Stekelenburg. :)
I meant that Trabelsi will probably stay for another year or two, he would be 28, that is a bit old for a topteam too buy a player, he might be a defender but combined with a winger, so he ages faster, it would be a big investment for perhaps not that much more time, I don`t see trabelsi at 32 in the first team of the Arsenal squad.

Over the last year he has been linked with real so many times it seems too be the most likely option, also considering his comments and those of Hagi, his manager(?) and big example.
Ofcourse until he signed the deal isn`t through and I hope Koeman is still busy trying too get him too stay, although from the board side the probably would rather see him go for a big amount of money, too make sure Ajax doesn`t again and the year in red.

Koeman got asked (before the match) what he would do if Zlatan would have gotten injured in todays match against Utrecht, we would have no real strikers, he said perhaps Boukhari, although he isn`t a central striker. He added that the lack of fit strikers isn`t a reason too just accept the behaviour mido showed, that is being a good and one-lined manager.
Well done Koeman. :)

offcourse zlatan will not be sold as he has become an integral part of the team, and because he can be used to replace mido, as which is the case at the moment, mido is expelled from the team with a good reason, offcourse he scores but he still has to obey, that's something he still has to learn.

Then again, nowadays Ajax isn`t in totall controll anymore in being able too keep a player, in the end Zlatan Ibrahimovic could force a move, but seeing his current statements in press I`m convinced he won`t and will stay with Ajax, especially since he is no certain of first team football with his only real competitor taking himself out.

Ajax seems too be looking too snatch up 28 year old Rik Hoogendorp of RKC Waalwijk as a replacement for banished striker Mido in a loan deal. Hoogendorp seems wellwilling but if Ajax will come to an agreement with RKC isn`t clear yet. RKC are financially struggling and a lift of the loanbill might be considered too ease pressure.
Would be a good loan deal, seeing that Hoogendorp is a good player who is a true pro. Than at the end of the year perhaps we could sign a player if the international transfer window opens.
