View Full Version : Massimo Moratti's reign

In this post, Im just going to summarize what Moratti has done for Inter...
1995-1996: 7th place in the Serie A
1996-1997: 3rd place in the Serie A
1997-1998: 2nd place in the Serie A + UEFA CUP Winners
1998-1999: 8th place in the Serie A1999-2000: 4th place in the Serie A
2000-2001: 5th place in the Serie A
2001-2002: 3rd place in the Serie A
Now, I think that if Moratti does not win anything, and if he does not win the Scudetto, he should step down as the Inter president...
just my thoughts, but winning just a UEFA CUP in 7 years is not acceptable. If the margins and refs would not be against us, we could easily have added 2 scudettos to that...
anyway, I think with Ronaldo ready, this will be the year of Inter!

Ronaldo and Vieri are both in great form. And what will stop us with Vieraldo fit?? Nothing.
I think this thread is a good idea.
We need to be honest with ourselves here.If you look at the amount of money MM has spent in comparison to what he has achieved then he is a miserable failure.
A lot of Inter's failures are Moratti's fault. He knows little about football in all honesty. He has no patience and if one star doesn't perform he just buys another to please the fans. That is why Inter fans love him.His money is always available to waste on new hapless stranieri.
However last season we did not spend that much despite making lots of signings and this season he has said that spending "crazy money" is not an option so it looks as though he is going the right way.I think this is because Cuper is now deciding what to players to buy whereas in the past Moratti often had the final say. This shows he has great confidence in Cuper.
However we will need to start winning things soon or i feel he would resign.

hope so...but to be realistic here..moratti will not be sacked if we dont win nothing these year (thing that will NOT happen ofcourse) cus fans in milan love him they even have a song for him:confused: ...cus even if we loose he always BYE them presents..like vieri on 1999 if im not wrong..ronaldo in 1997 etc :D

Yes, Moratti's comments on not spending so much this season was a big surprise to me. And I really hope it's Cuper who calls the shots. Everyone of us should remember that buying big stars doesn't guarantee anything.
Really, if we look at last season, what is the one problem Inter needed to solve. Gresko.
Problem solved.
Forza Inter 2002-03!!!
He will never be sacked as long as he is President. The only way he could leave is if he resigned.
LOLOLOL buying presents! You're right though he always does make one expensive signing like Vieri(99),Ronaldo(97),Vampeta(00-actually forget him) and Toldo last summer.

I'm not necessarily a big fan of Mr. Morratti (the real one, not the WSB one), but I dont' think he is solely responsible for Inter's record whilst he's been President. That said his record hasn't been glowing. Here's some things to consider.
1. Who's in charge of transfers??? My guess is Morratti, but is he the only one??? Have any of the managers had a say??? If he's been in charge of transfers, then he deserves some of the blame for Inter's transfer merry-go-round. When I ask if he's in charge, I mean does he decide who to buy. I know he stumps up some of the cash. Anyway, Inter's transfer history under him has been somewhat poor. The Vieri, Ronaldo, Toldo, J Zanetti deals were great and their were others. However, the bad deals were horrible. What was the point of buying Robbie Keane, not giving him a chance and then selling him for a loss a year later? That's just one example, but there are countless others as I'm sure you guys are aware. I hate this sort of thing and Barca have been doing it too in the recent past (not to mention the present). It's little wonder clubs like Inter and Barca are currently having financial difficulty. Also, too much transfer activity isn't good for developing a squad. IF MORRATTI IS MAKING THE TRANSFER DECISIONS (WHO TO BUY), THEN THAT'S A STRIKE AGAINST HIM IMO.
2. Two many managers. IMO Inter have had too many managers during his reign. I don't think he should have necessarily kept certain managers who weren't up to the job, but then they never should have been brought in in the first place. Now that we have a good manager (IMO), he needs to be given a chance. At least two seasons, if not three.
3. The players. Let's face it, the players are the ones on the pitch and they are just as responsible. Look at Ronaldo. He's done well for us, but that was 2-3 seasons ago. He's spent so much time on the treatment table. That's not Morratti's fault.
All in all though, I think Morratti hasn't been too good. I think dozz is right in saying things are headed in the right direction though. So long as Morratti keeps his nose out of certain apsects of the club, he won't to be too bad.
Good thread though.

Oriali was in charge of certain transfers and he did the Dalmat one and got rid of Vampeta so i'll give him a thumbs up for that one.He got banned in the passport fiasco though but i'm sure he is now back to work.

The thing is, I do not mind Moratti spending big, but stupid stunts like bringing guly for Pirlo was the lowest point of Moratti's buying career. I mean, he traded old crap for a new diamond... that is completely sick...
Also, some of the blame must go on Ronaldo... or on his injuries... if he would have been fit for the last seasons, we would probably have a couple of scudettos and champ leagues..
so count from this season, when our fenomeno returns.

well....i agree that winning only a single UEFA CUP in seven years is not acceptable....but i still have trust in him...and i want him to win a scudetto.....i don't think that if he'll leave the club it will bring positive things...cos moratti is a true inter fan...and does everything he can in order to bring inter to big accomplishments.....do you guys have any idea how much money the guy spent in the last 7 years??????
no you don't.... you guys just throw it away....and say that he needs to resign..... .....
i respect him.....and i want him to continue being our FAITHFUL president......

Actually, we got about 2 million pounds less. Not a lot, but a loss none the same and IMO it's just an example of one of Inter's DUMB transfers.

You would need to be blind not to realise that Moratti is at fault for a good proportion of Inters failings.I have already posted my beliefs and will not repeat them.If you can't see past Morattis spending to please the fans then so be it.I do not deny that he works hard.I just think he should use his head more.

It is damn strange how Moratti is acting. this is the darn time to spend money... Cuper knows what he wants, he wants Kily, what does Moratti do..."no, the price is exagerated",,, so was it when we bought Vieri and Seedorf too, but he has to spend now. How much has he spent on his buyS?
Francesco Coco: Swap with Seedorf, no cash involved..
Domenico Morfeo: Free agent.
Jonathan Binotto: Returns from Loan.
He has not spent shit yet, but IMO we need atleast two big buys... I want Kily and Nesta... ok, include other players in the deal if so...
PLEASE MORATTI, BY THESE, I PROMISE, CUPER WILL WIN YOU EVERYTHING!!!

Hi Everyone, how's all the Interistas in this inter forum:D
i'm back again after three weeks of exams at Uni, i'm a free agent again.
i almost forgot how subjective and sometimes comical this board was
;)
anyways, yes i concur with you stefan9, it seems that Moratti is willing to stregthen Cuper's squad on his wishes. Right now, i think cuper's concern is to beef up the left side, and with coco here, kily is the next target. After the world cup i expect to see concrete transfer news about inter

Guly was swapped directly for Christian Brocchi, the Pirlo deal was completely seperate. We sold him for £10 or £12 million I think.

I cannot understand how the hell guly became a pro footballer. He cant play.I hope something happens to him... Like a long term injury... Im pretty sure though that Inter will sell (who wants to pay for crap?) guly to some Serie D club...
Guly and Gresko, along with Farinos are players that are uneeded.... include Okan there too...
I think it's at the stage where we would have to pay a club to take Guly.
