I have seen this topic at a different site and thought that it sounded like a good idea. The title is pretty self explanatory, simply post the name of a song which is your favourite on that particular day.
My song of the day - "Hey Luv" by Mobb Deep ft.112
This has been my favourite song for a while now and started listening to it again today.

Great choice dozz. I downloaded it last night. There stuff the last album and seemingly now has finally turned me over. It's probably because they brought they crazy guitarist back.

Wouldn't that be great! A WSB CD. We could make it look like one of those WB CD's (Felicity, Dawson's Creek) and we'd sell a boatload of copies. Then, after we took in some revenue we could have commercials where Viva is telling everyone that if they don't buy the CD they'll be nothing more than stinking Interista!!!

No kidding. English bands are so much better than the rubbish we here over here it's not even funny. Some of the American stuff that makes it over there though isn't all bad.

incarcerated scarface by raekwon the chef.
old school wu tang is untouchable.
Fulham: I much prefer American bands like Linkin Park,Incubus,Puddle Of Mudd, Limp Bizkit,Papa Roach,Chillis etc to British bands. There are very few good British rock bands bar Oasis in my opinion.Stereophonics are Welsh.
I can't stand u2, they are the most overrated band ever.
My song for today is the very rare edition and seldom heard Turning Japanese by Incubus.Download it guys, it rocks.
Severus
06-26-2002, 08:47 PM
doz you're a disgrace to the verdearancia for your opinion on the greatest rock group ever created. their contribution to society has been tremendous and their music inspires everyone. technically they may not be the most gifted band but in the end it sounds good, and there's always some message they're trying to get across whether it be religious or political. they've also outlasted almost everyone. i think just floyd and aerosmith are left. how a legend can be overrated is beyond my realm of comprehension but then again, so are you filthy gaggin' interisti that are at the butt end of every joke in italy and abroad.
I suppose that's the way you guys see it but i hate them.Edge is a crap guitarist.Bar one or 2 songs they have the same stupid guitar sound.Bono is great but he IS U2! Without him they would be nothing.
I only really like one or two of their songs."In the Name of Love" was a classic though, i'll give them that much.
BLAUGRANA
06-26-2002, 11:32 PM
I think that you've got more of a "rock" thing going on in the States and more of a "pop" thing going on in the UK. Radiohead "rock" dozz. I think they "rock" as much if not more than any American band. They just mix things up a bit more. Anyway, I'd say the greatest pure "rock" band of all time is English, Led Zeppelin.
U2 is great. Not my favourite of all time or anything, but still great. What staying power. That's not to mention they mix things up a bit too, not rehash the same old same old.
I'd have to say my song of the day is "Love Spreads" by the Stone Roses. Now that song rocks dozzer. Heard it last night at my second favourite bar here in Brew City. They have a BritInvasion night every Tuesday with $2.50 imports. Last night was a bit "special" as it was also the CD release party for the new Ash album.

06-26-2002, 11:42 PM
i think british music is alot better. maybe thats because it is not forced down my throat like all the bands you named. the only american bands i really like are weezer, the strokes, and i think i'm going to buy that jimmy eats world cd. has anybody heard the new oasis?
BLAUGRANA
06-27-2002, 12:05 AM
The Strokes are cool, so is Weezer. I think REM is another good American band along with Elliott Smith.
I've downloaded "The Hindu Times" and "Don't go Crying Your Heart Out" from the new album. Both are good tunes, but not the best ever. I'm hoping the new album has more to offer.
Looney
06-27-2002, 01:40 AM
doz you're a Nerazzurri Manwhore AND you don't like U2? Is your destiny to be my arch nemesis???? Next you're gonna say Queen's a bunch of overrated cross dressers right?
And I think Severus has missed one band, his favourite Tea Party. I only got one song of theirs but dang it's a good song!
BLAUGRANA
06-27-2002, 03:28 AM
Thinking about American bands earlier and forgot all about Nirvana, the Foo Fighters and even Pearl Jam. Was never into Nirvana and Pearl Jam back in the day, but like em now.
Don't really like Radiohead myself, too weird and too depressing although they did have a couple of good songs a while back.
Song For Today: REM-Imitation Of Life. One of the most infectious choruses ever.

I don't adore Limp Bizkit etc but i like some of their stuff. Some of their stuff is really bad too (Eg) new Incubus song.Except Linkin Park, i like all their stuff. It rocks big time.
I have been playing guitar only a few years and i have NEVER heard anything from Edge that i couldn't play. He's just an extremely average guitar player in my opinion.Plus his sense of fashion is terrible. Those sad hats.Somebody give him an Inter jersey.:D
Severus
06-28-2002, 09:44 PM
yes he is very average. but like i said, they may not be the most skilled band around but they are by far the most cohesive/compact group ever. they still rock after 25 years. the chances that incubus and linkin park will do the same are as good as me becoming the pope.
something has to be said for that don't you think, how they've outlasted almost all the greats before them like for example, the beatles&zepplin --- 2 innovators of rock.
denounce your ethnicity immediatly you poser !!!
BLAUGRANA
06-28-2002, 10:10 PM
I think the Beatles and Zeppelin are/were better than U2 though as they churned out just as many (possibly more) great hits as U2 in a much shorter period of time.

Oh yeah, and my song of the day. Today it's "Won't get fooled again" by the Who. Their bass player died yesterday, hence my pick. It's my fav Who song. The crescendo at the end is amazing. Daltrey going "YEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH" while the Townsend revs up the guitar. Rock n Roll baby.

Funny as I'm reading Looney's post I have Zep playing. I'll go with song that made me put Zep on today. "Travelling Riverside Blues". So many other good ones though. Thing about them, they could have been even better than they were. All those great songs in only a 5 year period. Too much other sh1t going on though and I think that screwed em up.

Yes, Badly Drawn Boy is another favourite of mine, the soundtrack is great but check "The Hour of Bewilderbeast" his full-length from a couple of years ago. Brilliant for one man & his musical vision!
BTW today I'm listening to the American Analog Set from Austin, Texas. They're still not well-known but are really cool

Second pick is "Couldn't Cause Me Any Harm" by Beth Orton. She's great and has a new album out soon.

Wow, are Silverchair still around? It seems a long time since I've heard about them. Guess they're still popular in their homeland of Oz. Weren't those guys 17 years old or something when their first album came out? BTW the name Silverchair comes from CS Lewis' Narnia series in case anyone did not know.

the awesome lyric:...
Thoughtless
Thumbing through the pages of my fantasies
Pushing all the mercy down, down, down
I wanna see you try to take a swing at me
Come on, gonna put you on the ground, ground, ground
Why are you trying to make fun of me?
You think it's funny?
What the ***k you think it's doing to me?
You take your turn lashing out at me
I want you crying with your dirty ass in front of me
All of my hate cannot be found
I will not be drowned by your thoughtless scheming
So you can try to tear me down
Beat me to the ground
I will see you screaming
Thumbing through the pages of my fantasies
I'm above you, smiling at you, drown, drown, drown
I wanna kill and rape you the way you raped me
And I'll pull the trigger
And you're down, down, down
Why are you trying to make fun of me?
You think it's funny?
What the ***k you think it's doing to me?
You take your turn lashing out at me
I want you crying with your dirty ass in front of me
All of my hate cannot be found
I will not be drowned by your thoughtless scheming
So you can try to tear me down
Beat me to the ground
I will see you screaming
All my friends are gone, they died (gonna take you down)
They all screamed, and cried (gonna take you down)
I'm never (?) back against the wall
Gonna take you down
All of my hate cannot be found
I will not be drowned by your thoughtless scheming
So you can try to tear me down
Beat me to the ground
I will see you screaming
All of my hate cannot be found
I will not be drowned by your thoughtless scheming
So you can try to tear me down
Beat me to the ground
