I've just never really liked anything by Kate Bush. It's alright IMO, but nothing to get too excited about. As for Beth, I don't really fancy her. She's alright. I guess i'm just too into my girlfriend. I'd go for Beth in a second though if I were single. I can see it now, Beth singing to me whenever I want. :)
Missed yesterday, so i'm taking two:
"Caroline" by David Gray. Really grew on me in the last 24 hours or so, as is the new album the more I listen to it. It sounds a bit country to me. I think there's a steel guitar in that one.
Roman chose the Roses the other day and that's my second choice for today (BTW, good choice Roman). I'm going with "Standing Here". I like how the second half of the tune slows done a bit.
"I can feel a hurricane, when you shout
I should be safe forever, in your arms"

Hmm, I haven't even heard anything by Kate Bush. I know that name from somewhere, uhmm, but maybe she's not related to George W. Bush in any ways? :P
(or, actually, is she, really?)
Damn, I don't remember the names of George's children so..
So, what kind of music do you guys listen, or do you listen everything from jazz to polka? :P
Or anything more than the song of your football team? :D
That reminds me,
"You'll never walk alone..."
It is the only song that I remember to belong uhmm, Liverpool?
-
Well how stupid is that question, you guys have listed sooo many songs you wanted to be a song of the day, and then I ask, what music do you listen? :D :D
Well, I meant, that in general, what kind of music do you like?`

Try their site www.sigur-ros.com but I'm not sure if they have any song files there. The album is simply called ( ) & as Joonas said there are no song titles, the cd booklet itself has no writing whatsoever. Most of the stuff centers around deliberatley crescending instrumentals, with some vocals that are in a made-up language & not in the band's native Icelandic tongue. It may sound pretentious but it's excellent music, even better than their last album IMO.

Roman may want to comment on this too, but I think that are relatively unknowns here. Their popularity IMO isn't even close to that of Coldplay or even a band like Travis.

In my humble opinion the Manics are the best British band of the 90's. Some of their early music is nothing short of remarkable. I know you don't like heavy rock but i think you'd really like some of their slow stuff especially "Little Baby Nothing". It's one of my favourite all time songs. Their song writing talents are extraordinary although their lyrics have often been controversial. When the Welsh national team was struggling under Bobby Gould they changed the name of one of their songs from Everything Must Go to Bobby Gould Must Go and sang it in the Cardiff arena. :D

Yes, these guys are from Reykjavik but that's not Icelandic they're singing, not that we'd understand Icelandic anyway :D This is a review I saved when the album was released: If you're walking through your local record shop and catch a whiff of gimmicky pretentiousness, you may be in the vicinity of Sigur Rós' latest, ( ). One of the more willfully obscure albums to see release in the naught decade thus far, ( ) ran through eight tracks in a presumptuous seventy-two minutes. It provided no song titles or information in the useless CD booklet, and it contained no dramatic departures from Ágaetis Byrjun. So why give a shit? Because when a band is at the fore of musical innovation, they can get away with this kind of absurd tripe, and probably a whole lot more. Those who found it in themselves to look past Sigur Rós' monkey business were rewarded with another gem from the best gibberish-singing band working today. In summation, ( ) is like Radiohead without Thom Yorke. What could be better?

Yup "Suicide Is Painless" was out in 92. I remember well because there was a bid furore over how the Manics had "ruined" the song by upping the tempo from the original.

"Whole Lotta Love" by Led Zeppelin. Jimmy Page's B-Day a few days back. Some nice guitar work from him in this one.
BTW, I was think we should start a new 2003 Song of the Day thread. What'dya think?
Also, I dl'd some Sigur Ros. Not bad, but I don't understand a word. A mate at work said it's jibberish and not Icelandic. Either way, I need my lyrics.

I haven't really been on in a few days, so I'm taking my Elvis picks to make up for it.
"I Can't Help Falling Love" A great love song. From the movie Blue Hawaii.
"Blue Suede Shoes" I love the start of this one: "Well it's a one for the money, two for the show, three to get ready now go cat go..."
"Something" Yes, a Beatles cover. They met one another once. As told by the Beatles, they met in California at his place. They said he was just sitting on the couch playing a fender bass.
For missing yesterday, I'm taking a non-Elvis tune. "Slowdown" by Morcheeba.
"lose yourself" by eminem

Freeze, you know that Elvis tried to get the Beatles deported as spies 'cause they were threatening his popularity? At least that's what I've heard. Elvis' cover of most songs are pretty good too, 'cept maybe Unchained Melody.

Of course I do, I'm a huge collector of Jamaican music which always sounds best on wax, none of the flatness of digital re-mastering. I thought I'd mentioned that before. I have a Technics SP1200 turntable :D
The MA album is good, I would not say excellent & certainly not nearly as good as Mezzanine which is a tough act to follow. Of the original 3 members of Massive Attack, Mushroom has quit & Daddy G did not participate really on the new album. So it's mostly 3D's thing, which is why it seems hit or miss.
