Following is information from www.soccerage.com:
"Gaizka Mendieta's £6 million-a-season wages are likely to rule out a permanent move to Barcelona.
The Spanish international is on loan from Lazio who would like to off-load him at the end of the season.
Although the Catalan club's technical staff have been happy with his form this season, they are unlikely to take up the option of buying him for £16 million. "
I don't think that our technical staff have been happy with his current performance and there are no reasons signing him for such high price.

MONEY: e.g. from your wallet :D (just kidding)
Ehrm, and Barça would have to sell the Nou Camp, the Miniestadi and every piece of land out there, to get them all.

No kidding! It's pretty rich for our buddy Juan to come here and post that sorta thing. Maybe the next time the Olympics are held in Barcelona we'll get $200+ for an old training facility. I wonder what's going to happen in the next year or two now that Real Madrid's coffers seem ot have run a bit dry. Gee, I wonder where they'll get their transfer funds from.

Not too realistic I'm afraid. We'd love them though I'm sure. I'd take just Chivu and Tristan and be thrilled.

1 for each position is still too expensive. As you might have heard currently we're experiencing a little financial problem, so we don't have much money available for transfers.
Furthermore I don't think we need any forwards at the moment. The most important positions to be strengthened are central defender (world-class) and midfielder.
Of course if more transfer funds available, I would be glad to see one more world-class striker, who’ll increase our squad depth, signed.
But let’s be realistic in our appetites. :D

don't think barca will contract less than 3 players. So in my opinion the 3 positions to be filled in are :
Central defender
Winger
Central Attacker

Barcelona, at the beginning of the season was not selling FDB shirts, the club was actually giving the money back:D
FDB has been playing well since Antic took over and put a defense of 4 back there. Maybe he will sell a couple t-shirts again. Saviola has been doing well selling them, I have two in my household:)

Well, the rumour mill has definately kicked into gear again. I'll give you a rundown of what I've read recently.
Let's start with the club's financial situation first. According to one of our last VP's, we are only about 64 million pounds in debt and not the 120 million that's been reported. Good news if it's true. However, he said that some top players should be sold to help and reduce the debt right away.
The latest player to be linked with a move away from the club is Marc Overmars. Man Utd are supposedly interested with a couple of other big clubs. We're reportedly willing to let Overmars go for 8.5 million pounds as his contract is up soon (next summer I think).
Kluivert has been linked with a move away for nearly a whole week now. The price i've read would be 15 million pounds. He says he wants to stay, but reports say that the club is looking to sell him.
I'd hate to see either player go to be honest. However, we do need to sell players. I think it'd be a bit easier to let Overmars go than Kluivert do to our greater depth in the midfield, but to be honest I don't think we're that deep in either position. Not a funs situation no matter how you look at it. I guess if we need to get rid of them, we should do player plus cash deals. If a club really wants Kluivert say, send him for cash plus one of their top young prospects (preferrably a striker). Same goes for Overmars.

i don't think that Barcelona are in debt, i just think that the coffers have run dry....
i have just read a report that they have turned in a small profit last season..... and you can't turn in a profit if you are in debt according to the economic terminology of football clubs.......
i think we need to sell players just so that we can refill the coffers with money, so that we can avoid being in debt. although i am not sure

I think we could have turned a profit last season, but the report you read may not have included the debts to creditors and other clubs we have. Can you post the article or provide a link?

With the Juve CL draw, the rumour mill has kicked in as it usually does as a result of a simple interview. Puyol says if he left Barca (which would only be if the club "forced him out") that'd he'd like to play in the Serie A.
On the flip side, Buffon says he wouldn't mind playing for Barca some day. He says he wasn't ready for us the summer he joined Juve, but had some nice things to say about Barca. LOL, like we'd ever be able to afford him.
HEY EVERYONE,
Since the fepature of VG WE'VE improved 10 fold and wer'e finally looking a grat team again!
Even our mediorce players look exceptional and it's welcomed change!
By far our most improved player has got to be Xavi as he does everything he didn't under VG ,plays hard tackles better and crosses exceptionally!
Even Debor looks good!
Riquelme finally has gotten out his shell once thus far and lookhow good he really is,imagine him being as comfortable he was in Boca???Zidane who?
Though we are playing great few can say that we don't need reinforcements.not much though but here are my picks-
1-Splash big money on a central defender the likes of Samuel who is definitley needed to combat our defencive fralities that come on and off.
2-Buy a good, true left winger the likes of D'allessandro who is undoubtly the best in his position as he has not only the dribbling ability and speed of denilsion but the one quality denilson doesn't have-PROFUND scoring ability(as well as an uncanny understanding with Saviola)
3-Buy a good striker like Tristan who is intrested in us but refuses to be a pawn in our presidential race.
4-DON'T BUY A NEW KEEPER-give Valades a chance whiles't benching Bonano.
5-Complete Sorin Transfer.
6-Let Mendieta go(AMEN)
--------------------------------------------
PS-there's been talk of Recoba being traded to barca in part exchange of Rommeback&20m ............why the hell would we do that????????Recoba's style is like Saviola and he's indisiplined, plus Rommeback is coming into his own!
Also there's been talk of Ronaldinio coming to barca......why???Money is scarce and where would he play and who would be benced.no thanks!
Rumour has it Kluviert is ready to go................maybe Tristan could replace him but that'll be hard to lose..............
Rumour also has it we're after Chivu,VDV, and Zlatan.....they're all good but can we possibly compete with the likes of Milan,UTD,Arsenal or Roma..........

He says he wants to anyway. I think we should sign this guy. He's so far been better than I expected and I think he's even better than he's shown us. Anyway, this from Sky:
"I always had the dream to play in Barcelona," said Sorin. "Every time I saw Camp Nou on the TV, I thought about it.
"It's one of the most important stadiums in the world, it's like a fantastic theatre. I enjoy each minute I play in our stadium.
"I had the luck to win titles with all the teams in which I have played and now I wish to have that chance in Barcelona.
"I have played six games until now and my wish is to stay for many years. The club has to decide by May 30 if they want to buy me but besides all this, I want to say that everyone has treated me very kindly. That's very important for having good performances."

Much more realistic in your transfer targets this time. IMO, still a bit over budget, but much better. Who's Rommeback? LOL! I don't like the Recoba rumour either, but if you want all of these non-EU players, you'll have to let Rochembach go. Besides, he still isn't cutting the mustard.

Sorin would make an excellent left-back, and he's a good finisher/winger. i can see a lot of dazzling plays coming about from this guy
if you remember his debut against Ath. Bilbao, he did a dazzling run on the left and provided an excellent cross which overmars just failed to place into the net.
the coach has to work on curbing his over-excited nature..

Kluivert would be disappointed and hurt if Barca sold him this summer. Kluivert:
"I find myself very happy with Barca, I don't see myself away from this club.
"I want to play for Barça and no-one else. It would hurt me very deeply if the leaders decided to sell me."

i was planning on answering and I did completely the opposit. I'm doing pretty good at this time. But I had a lt of luck. Some drunk people drove me over and smacked me to a tree. I had 24 stitches in the neck but everything will heal just fine. I broke my leg, but that is healed 100% the only problem is my school. I have to do my exams in the summer. That is a real shame in my eyes.
I've heard and read that Portillo might be coming towards Barcelona? How big is the chance?

A couple of rumours i've been reading.
Mendigol will most likely not be signed in a permanent transfer deal. Great news IMO.
Overmars to Inter for a straight swap for Sergio. I don't like this deal at all. Overmars is twice as good as Sergio. Barca are reportedly wanting Sergio plus some cash though. I'd like to see Overmars stay. If not, we need to bring in a better player than Sergio. Hell, I'd rather we bought Simao back from Benfica.
Finally, FDB is waiting to hear from Barca about a possible contract for next season before talking to other clubs. If we can't afford a decent new defender, I'd sign him up for one more season.

i've seen a forward player i like and i don't think he will be that expensive. I'm talking about Kuranyi. He plays somewhere in germany (hamburg?) and he's good. You can sign him, he would be a great addition even if he stays on the bench.
BTW i'd like Portillo to come, i really hope he does!!!!

Hi, havnt been here either this site has been down for a while
dont know if barcelona can afford all those players, but we definatly need to strengthan this team
theres a few we can get rid of too
christanval, gabri, gerard, andersson and definatly dont buy mendieta imo frank de boar has been better lately
i hate to say it but if antic stays as manager may as well sell riquelme:eek: ive followed him at boca and he is not the player
i used to watch ( although barca doesnt look like the F C Barcelona i used to watch anymore either :( )
its hard to see it working out for roman under antic
i guess it will depend on the elections, alot of names have been mentioned
whowever wins ( probably basset imo ) will have a hard time fixing this club

The elections will be vital ..... and who knows, Antic might stay for next year, and maybe he's not?
Most probable to happen this summer is that we might buy one of these :
Goalkeeper : Kahn or Cavallero
Defence : Lucio
Medfield : Nedved , Rosiscky or Scholes
Attack : Makkay or Tristan
kd200201
05-23-2003, 11:06 AM
Most probable to happen ? I think barca can not afford players like nedved, rosicky, makaay, kahn, .....
Is there anyone who knows what names are linked with which president candidate??? I haven't heard anything, since I cannot speak Spanish....

Maybe not Nedved and Rosicky ...
Well .. If you heard what Kahn said couple of weeks ago then you'll know what's going on ..
Makaay refused to re-contract ..
Lucio basically doesn't want to remain in Leverkusen anymore .. doesn't want to play in the 2nd devision i guess ..
all the papers are talking about these 3 ...
Barca CAN afford buying if you read the article 1 week ago in www.sport.es . They're planning a list to off-load players .. and these players are :
Rochemback
Motta
Geovanni
Mendieta
Cristinaval
Enk
Dani
About the candidates ... the one who's going up and up everytime in this moment is Luis Bassat ..
Dirk-Nec
05-23-2003, 11:08 PM
There are also some rumours going around here in Holland. Today I heard through a sponsor that Koeman is coming to Barca, that Neeskens is going to Ajax, and Van Basten is going to train Nec.
Although that is in contradiction with what whas in the papers here in Nijmegen. Johan Neeskens has met twice with among others, Jordi Medina, who wants to run for president also.
He told the press that Neeskens was very interested to come and work under Medina, if he is chosen as president, and that Stoitchkov would be his assistent then.
Would mean that Neeskens is leaving NEC, although he still has a contract for a year here.
Rumours are a lot like dreams I think: sometimes to good to be true..... and sometimes a nightmare.....

Yep, he's in the Saviola and Aimar boat along with Riquleme. Both Aimar and Saviola took 2 seasons to fully establish themselves and if Riquelme and Motta stay on, I'm sure they bloom soon enough.

Exactly my point. Although we haven't seen Riquelme as much on the field as we might have liked, he has shown what he's capable of when he plays. And Saviola just keep on growing, he's one of the most important players.
But it's kinda the same with Riquelme as with Motta. As long as they don't play, they won't grow.

well here we go another summer and more transfer talk.i for 1 am really excited by these elections.however i am completely ignoring these fairytale stories that david beckham is going to join the club and ruud van nistelrooey and iker casillas is going 2 join. who do you guys think the 3 players from holland are n the player from germant are??i personally think the player from germany is either lucio of bayer leverkusen or amoroso of borussia dortmund.and as far as the players from holland are concerned i think it might be chivu, van der vaart, kezman or van bommel, maybe hofland could be included.i think its definitely 2 of these players. Chivu to replace de boer, van bommel to replace cocu. i think we should sell geovanni although he hasnt bin given time to prove himself and bring back simao who has had a great season for benfica and finished 2nd highest league goalscorer in portugal. also bring back mikael arteta as a replacement for cocu.
hope to here ure opinion soon!

Well, Geovanni has also had a great season at Benfica, and I doubt they'll let Simao go again, so maybe we should count on Geovanni to?

I also think these rumours is bogus. I doubt Beckham and Nistelrooy will ever leave Man Utd., and Casillas' heart is in Real Madrid, so I don't think that's ever gonna happen.

i read ages ago that barca have a clause in simaos contract that we have 1st option to buy him back.the same with arteta and the same with reina who left last season. we need an out and put right winger so we can play riquelme behind the strikers and get mendieto off back to lazio as he hasnt proved himself to justify his high transfer value.

Barca need another striker to help out Kluivert and Saviola. I would suggest the 'french sensation' Djibril Cisse from Auxerre. I think his contracts run out soon.
Also Harry Kewell would be a very good signing. I think he is one of the best players in the world at the moment. He scores in alot of games and he has great speed. I would love to see an aussie at barcelona because I am one.
Get Arteta back, also Simao. Sell Giovanni and probably let Mendieta go because he has not proved what his transfer value is this season.
Try to get Van der Vaart and also Van der Meyde. They are the future of dutch football.

BARCA TARGET KEEPING DUO
BARCELONA have targeted Turkish star Rustu Recber and Czech Republic international Petr Cech as they look to bring in a new goalkeeper next season.
The Spanish giants have made a new goalkeeper a top target as they look to solve what has become a problematic position for Barcelona.
Roberto Bonano has been unable to make the number one jersey his own and Robert Enke has failed to impress since arriving last summer from Benfica.
Rennes ace Cech has revealed that Barcelona have held talks with his agent about a possible move to Camp Nou.
Cech has attracted the interest of Manchester United and Arsenal after a fine season for Rennes and the young shot-stopper admitted he would find it hard to resist a move to Barcelona.
"On Tuesday, my agent was at Barcelona," Cech told L'Equipe. "He met the officials and the coach. They seem interested, but I should not be alone.
"Then, I think Barcelona will call Rennes officials to start to talk.
"Barcelona is a really great club, you can`t refuse that!
"If the offer is exceptional for the club, I think there won't be any trouble.
"Barcelona attracts me. The choice of the new Rennes coach will not change my decision."
Fenerbahce custodian Recber also claims he has been offered a deal to sign for Barcelona.
The Spanish giants are believed to have offered the Turk a lucrative four-year deal to move to Barcelona and Recber is keeping all his options open.
Recber could be available on a free transfer as his contract expires later this month, although the Turkish club are hoping to sign him to a new long-term deal.
Manchester United and Arsenal have also been strongly linked with the athletic shot-stopper, but Recber insists his first choice is to stay with Fenerbahce.
"I do not know where I will play football next season, but I am trying to deal with Fenerbahce first," said Rustu.
"There are speculations in the press about me."

GUARDIOLA LINED UP FOR BARCA RETURN
JOSEP GUARDIOLA has confirmed he has reached an agreement with Barcelona presidency candidate Lluis Bassat to return to his former club as director of sport should Bassat win the forthcoming elections.
The former Camp Nou idol - who is currently in his second stint with Serie A side Brescia - also refused to rule out a return as a player should Bassat fail to clinch the presidency.
However, the 32-year-old insisted he did not want to force himself into a new position at the club through the electoral process, and would wait to be offered a role by the incoming president.
"What they have offered me is important enough for me to not take it lightly, and it is not through a dose of vanity of through thinking I can be some kind of saviour to the club, but I have to position myself," said Guardiola.
The former Spanish international also refuted claims that he was too inexperienced for the proposed role, and that he was motivated by financial reasons.
"If it was for money, I could have carried on playing football for a few years as there isn't a profession that pays more.
"Whatever they (Barca) would see fit to pay me I would be happy with.
"Experience is a hugely important factor, but it is not everything. If it was everything, there would not be elections."
Guardiola went on to claim he would try to create a new regime and way of thinking at the club to help revive their flagging fortunes on the pitch.
The midfielder declared he would try to abolish the 'culture of excuses' at the club, and attempt to instill a new team ethic to take the club forward.

LAPORTA OFFERS BECKHAM BAIT
THE race for the Barcelona presidency continues to hot up with Joan Laporta attempting to strengthen his position by claiming he is close to reaching an agreement with Manchester United for the signature of David Beckham.
Laporta's mediator, Sandro Rosell, met with Manchester United chief executive Peter Kenyon on Tuesday night to discuss the terms of a possible deal for the England skipper.
Although both parties have remained tight-lipped about details of the discussions, it is believed the Premiership champions are now prepared to let Beckham leave Old Trafford should the right offer arrive.
However, a stumbling block to any deal with Barcelona is Laporta's chance of securing victory in the forthcoming presidential elections.
Although the Barcelona-based lawyer claims he is confident of success, polls in Catalunya have shown rival Lluis Bassat to be the clear favourite at the moment.
All figures at this time are unofficial, but it does seem that Bassat has a clear advantage over his rivals, and Bassat has made it clear that he sees the signing of defenders as the club's main priority - dismissing talk of a move for Beckham.
Barca legend Josep Guardiola has also been recruited to Bassat's campaign and will return to the club as sporting director should he win the elections.
Laporta is hoping though to sway support with the promise of luring at least two 'megastars' to the Catalan club in a bid to rival the dominance of fierce enemies Real Madrid.
Barca fans have become increasingly disgruntled as they have seen Luis Figo defect to the Bernabeu, and Zinedine Zidane and Ronaldo arrive in Madrid in recent times.
It remains to be seen whether the promise of bringing Beckham to Camp Nou can ultimately swing the vote in Laporta's favour, while Barca's potential lack of European football next term could also conceivably scupper any transfer.

RONALDINHO TALKS BEGIN
MANCHESTER UNITED are awaiting the green light to begin talks with Paris Saint Germain in a bid to sign Ronaldinho, according to the Brazilian's brother and agent Roberto Assis.
PSG's new coach Vahid Halilhodzic is determined to try and keep the skilful South American, and president Francis Graille is just as keen, but the likelihood is that the forward will depart for Old Trafford following the capital club's failure to qualify for Europe next season.
Barcelona could still be a threat to Sir Alex Ferguson's plans, depending on which candidate gets the presidency at Camp Nou, and there remain suggestions that United will sacrifice David Beckham in order to land Ronaldinho, even though that would surely leave a gap in the right side of their midfield.
Ronaldinho is Ferguson's dream partner for Ruud van Nistelrooy, operating in a withdrawn role just behind the deadly Dutch striker.
Talks over the World Cup star's future began this week, with more discussions scheduled, as Halilhodzic and Graille make a concerted attempt to persuade the player to remain in Paris.
"They talked about their wish and we talked about our wish," revealed Roberto Assis afterwards.
"We started to talk about the player's future.
"There is a club that is just waiting for the green light to come and talk with PSG."
United are the club in question, and will attempt to go through the proper channels in order to land what could be the biggest signing of the summer.
A five-year contract awaits Ronaldinho in Manchester and, despite reports that Diego Forlan or Fabien Barthez could move in part-exchange, it is almost certain to be a straight cash bid from Ferguson.
As for Beckham, the rumours refuse to go away, but the England captain would take some replacing in the United line-up. For all of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's adaptability, it is obvious he is not a natural right-sided midfielder and it is unfeasible that Ferguson would let Beckham leave unless plans were afoot to either alter the formation or draft in a replacement.
It still seems fanciful to suggest that the Leytonstone-born midfielder will play for a Barcelona team that might not even compete in Europe next season, but it is clear that the speculation will continue unabated.
One respected Spanish newspaper claimed on Wednesday that United had tabled four bids for Real Madrid players - Michel Salgado, Claude Makelele, Guti and Geremi!

2 30 isn`t old for a goalie, goalies bloom later than field players. Keepers reach their tops 28/29/30.
3 Well Barca needs a reliable goalie, which Rustu for sure is. Cech is good and a huge talent, but a keeper of Barca needs a lot of experience on high level and with pressure and tension. Cech would be good to add, but for long term more than now, and now, Barca for sure needs a worldclass goalie, as Rustu is.

The Dutch side's Romanian skipper has already reached an agreement with Giuliano Terraneo who will become the Azulgrana's club director if Laporta gets elected this month.
Barca are also in contact with the Dutch giants to agree on a transfer fee for Chivu, who is also being tracked by Inter and AC Milan.
Chivu's price tag has fluctuated between 15-20 million Euros in the past months.

i hope that i am not the only barca fan who is becoming increasingly excited by snr joan laporta and his presedential candidate team!!alright david beckham might not have been my ideal choice as i hate manchester united as well as the player himself because hes not as good as everyone makes him out to be but hes still decent enough.also the 30-35 million we pay for david beckham will easily be reinstated and porbably doubled by image rights and merchandising.especially if in asia which is both real madrids and barcelona next target to crack and lets face it in asia everyone knows who david beckham is an as you all well know asia is the most populated continent so it can only be good for our revenue. as well as david beckham as a right sided midfield which we badly need as mendieta has lost his way somehow.we have rustu signing a pre contract agreement.i have been well impressed by him during the world cup and will be a strong personality in the barca dressing room and will be able to command his back 4 easily.as well as rustu we have cristian chivu from ajax.undoubtedly the best defender in the world.or at least potentially.chivu and puyol at the centre of our defence will be great, and barca if they buy sorin will have a solid back line along with reiziger at right back. also if snr joan laporta is elected he has arranged to bring in guus hiddink from psv for 1 season and aftr that 1 season barca legend ronald koeman will become manager and most of our dream team will be made up and then things will really start to happen aftr that!!i think after next season is up he will bring van der vaart through the merchandising we get from beckham.i dont think we will sign d'allessandro from river anytime soon even tho id like to see him their as well as robinho and kaka.but lets not get ahead of ourselves.these next few seasons look to be very promising and i am hopeful that we will bring all silverware possible back to its rightful place in the nou camp trophy cabinets.Lets prove our club is better than real madrid, man utd and milan cos as we all know FC Barcelona is the best

do you actually think laporta would carry out these transactions just to gain the barca presidency.if he wanted that then he would ruin the club that he loves the most.according to his vice candidate leader snr rossell he is taking many loans from different banks and repaying that money with the capture of david beckham whos income will bring us double the amount of money back and maybe even a little bit more.this is all part of his plan to get loads of money to bring in stars in the not so distant future.and hes bringing in the right kind of people for the job.hes getting guus hiddink for 1 season.you all seen what he did for korea at the world cup and youve seen him win the dutch league with psv. and at the end of that 1 year ronald koeman will join us maybe bringing van der vaart with him i hope.and this season we will have beckham chivu and rustu.so please stop being so negative about the money situation etc as it all adds up.i know you are just being realistic about the money situation but like joan laporta said he has presented his project to man utd and they as well say the project is solid and firm.what more reassurance do you ppl want until hes actually elected.and all this that david beckhams representatives will not meet with joan laporta and his associates is a lie, they wont meet with them whilst david is on holiday and will start negotiations when he returns from his promotional work in the US.so please try & focus on the good things of our great club and forget about the negatives. If things proceed as they are n the project doesnt make barca great again then you'll have the chance to criticise and focus on the negatives but it does not help the team or the club being negative all the time!!

I have heard a rumour that barca want Pablo Aimar and Vicente from Valencia for a possible swap with Saviola and Riquelme. That would be foolish. Barca should cling on tight to Saviola as he is one of the shining lights in the team and he has agreat future ahead of him. I know Aimar is fantastic but I think Saviola is better.
I think Kluivert should be a team man and take a pay cut. If he wont than all he does is think about himself and he shouldnt be at Barca. But 1.8m for him is virtually giving him away. You cant let it happen to Rivaldo and now Kluivert. Barca could of got way more for Rivaldo but Louis Van Gaal stupidly gave him a free transfer. We only got about 6m.
Mexican captain Marquez maybe another of Laporta signings they are currently in negotiations.
Its always Real Madrid who steal the players we want. All the talk about Beckham coming to Barca and then at the end in come Real Madrid and steal the show. Laporta used Beckham as a "political pawn" as Beckham said himself.
If I were Rijkaard I would desperately try to get Aussie star Harry Kewell. The man is a great player and he is only 24. He is in my top 10 best players in the world. I think Barca should bounce back next season and challenge for the la liga title.
We should keep Motta because he is a hot prospect of the future.

I've heard another story about aimar and ayala. Valencia asks 30m for both. Barca is willing to offer 12m for aimar and 10 for ayala + luis garcia
and gabri in change. I think it's to much. I would spend 22m + luis garcia
and ask as long as they say yes *g*. The agent of both (aimar and ayala have the same) says yesterday that both woulde love to play at barca, and is very confident in the deal. he said "a deal looks very likely
because the personal things are agreed, it depends only on barca and valencia." do people we SHOULD get the two as long as we can.
Forget this beckham. I'm very happy that he goes to madrid, if we get aimar.
1. aimar is cheaper.
2. aimar is younger.
3. he showed us that he can play in Spain.
4. he has not that superstar life that becks and his stupid wife has.
5. many other things
so please get aimar.Saviola stays I'm sure at 100%. But sell rochemback,
Dani,and Alfonso.Maybe christanval.
As for the non Eu players, I've read that ayala has an italian passport but I'm not sure.
I think that saviola should also get his Italian passport, the next month's I read.
As for Kluivert, I think he will stay. He is currently on holiday and not to speak. Either barca nor his agent can find him, thats a sign he is very sad and angry - it's normal. But Rijkaard masters to keep him.

marquez and quaresma, and the manager has 50% of the rights of Deco.
Also Deco has a an portugese passport.
The situation of aimar and ayala is unclear. If we get of from Riquelme
I would love to see this two at barca.
I also have read that barca tries to get for saviola and rustu an Eu passport. If that happens, it would be fantastic.Than the aimar and ayala
transfer will happen, I think.
We also interest in Cisse, it's not depend if kluivert stay or not. But the
transfer-fee is much to high. 35 mill. is much to high.

Barca is trying to get DECO ! If so ... he will be devastating on the right flank!
Ronaldhino transfer is out. I must say I'm happy, because he is to expensive. 20 millions+riquelme and christanval that's to much.
Joan Laporta said that he spends 50 mill.for transfers that season,16mill.
he have allready spendet. Quaresma(7) Marquez(5)and luis garcia(4),
and we all know rustu came on a free.

No relejado, I don't forget lucho,but he's getting older and I think
he don't have a chance against Overmars and also not against ronaldhino. I know it sounds hardly but i think,he should play 45 minutes
in the match and then give the chance to others.
Christanval leaving on a free, thats not good cause i think 4 millions of euros had been better, and marseille would pay that.

he's getting older, your right. and the possibility that he's getting injured is high. but besides the physical aspect, who you think will be the strong part in the team, on the pitch, in a different situation ? none of the new transferred ones. xavi, cocu? no. riquelme, saviola? no. overmars, kluivert ? no. they are all great players, but they are not 'pushy' enough...

Yes we got Ronaldinho
He will be a much better singing than David Beckham on the field. He will also bring in some of his sponsor deal money to the club as beckham does with his fans in asia.
This is from FCBarcelona.com
President Joan Laporta and Ronaldinho signed the agreement in an atmosphere of satisfaction from both parts. Vice-President Sandro Rosell was clearly thrilled at the signing: "Ronaldinho has been taken aback by the reception he's received. The deal doesn't involve the loan of any Barca player. We've still got our eye on two or three other signings."
Thats is good. I was a bit concerned that Ronaldinho would be the end of our transfers for the season.
But it will be hard to slot these players in the midfield.
Motta
Riquelme
Gabri
Cocu
Ronaldinho(will player more as a forward)
Gerard
Quaresma
Luis Enrique
Overmars
Xavi
Luis Garcia
That is a problem because barca will on have 4 or 5 in the midfield
Can anyone answer my 3 questions
1. How much will Ronnie be paid a year
2. How much does Joan Laporta get paid
3. Who is barca/s next transfer target
I dont think will try to get cisse or aimar because of the arrival of ronnie. But u never know. We should get Phillip Mexes because he can go for 2-3 million euros. THAT'S A BARGAIN.
Adios

I would look for some of them to be sold or loaned out. JRR, Overmars and Gerard could all leave yet this summer.

Agreed. I wouldn't loan him out and would only sell him for the right price. The club on the other hand is rumoured to be willing to let him go.

Do u think Barca will follow up their interest in Aimar and Deco snow since the arrival of Ronaldinho. Some people think Ronaldinho is the 2nd most over rated player in the world (2nd to Beckham). There is no way he is. He will prove those critics wrong next season.

IMO, deco and aimar are not coming to barca this season. it wouldn't make sense for me. i'd rather buy another defender. i still can't understand why barca didn't buy chivu. imagin a back-line with puyol, marquez, chivu and navarro...who is supposed to play alongside marquez in the middle ???? andersson ????

Hi mate, i'm quite confused about the line up that you came up with, now with the all barcelonas's lates buys i think the most resonable line up would be:
-------------------------Rustu-----------------------------------
Puyol----------Marquez---------Mario-------------Navarro or Motta
(if he shows all that he is and
if he doesn't Anderson)
-------------------Xavi---------------Cocu---------------------
------------------Ronaldinho-------------Luis enrrique-----------
---------Saviola------------------------------Kluivert--------------
Now, if i had the chance to chose any players for the team, my line up would be:
----------------------------Casillas---------------------------
(madrid)
Puyol-------------Canavaro----------Marquez-----------Coco
(inter) (inter)
----------------Xavi--------------------Gerrard--------------
(liverpool)
-------Ronaldinho--------------------------Aimar--------------
(Valencia)
----------------Saviola-------------Van Nistelroy----------------

Barcelona have been linked with Lazio striker Goran Pancev.
The 21 year-old Macedonia international is available from Lazio and Barca sports director Txiki Begiristain has already made contact to discuss a possible January deal. But he has been put off by Lazio's £6 million asking price.
Pancev's teammate, Simone Inzaghi, is also interesting Barca. Indeed, its understood Inzaghi's agent was in Spain on Sunday for talks with Begiristain about a move to the Nou Camp.
Inzaghi has been offered by Lazio president in a swap for Sampdoria's Fabio Bazzani, but the deal has stalled following Barca's interference.

Barcelona could be set to test Tottenham's resolve to keep Fredi Kanoute at White Hart Lane in a bid to bolster their attacking options.
With Henrik Larsson ruled out until the summer with a serious knee injury, the Spanish league leaders are on the lookout for a new forward and have most recently been linked with Manchester City's Nicolas Anelka.
Barcelona said recently they would be unable to fund a bid for Anelka, stating that a loan move for a marksman was more likely than any permanent deal.
But sporting director Txiki Begiristain told the Daily Star that a move for Kanoute, currently a regular in Martin Jol's improving Tottenham side, was under consideration.
"At the moment Kanoute is an option for the technical staff and coach to study, but nothing has been determined," said Begiristain.
"Kanoute is a good player who is a force in our game and has a European passport which is a point in his favour. But we have still not spoken with Tottenham about him."
Jol would seem highly unlikely to accede to a transfer approach for the Mali international, who also holds a French passport, having asserted just a fortnight ago that he was intent on keeping Kanoute, Jermain Defoe and Robbie Keane at the club.
Kanoute joined Tottenham from West Ham in August 2003 in a £3.5million deal.
Man you guys are after a bunch of strikers.

Barcelona president confirms double signing
tribalfootball.com - January 9, 2005
Barcelona president Joan Laporta has confirmed they intend to announce two new signings this week.
Barca are seeking a striker and central midfielder following a spate of injuries to their senior squad during the first-half of the season.
"There are still three to four possibilities we are considering," said Laporta yesterday.
Barca have been focusing on the Serie A transfer market, where Alessio Tacchinardi (Juventus), Cristiano Zanetti (Inter Milan) and Goran Pandev (Lazio) are among targets.

Real Betis have been linked with Barcelona midfielder Gerard.
The Spanish international is off contract in the summer and admitted during the week he was yet to hear from Barca about a new deal.
Betis are keen to bring Gerard to Seville and could secure the 26 year-old to a pre-contract.

According to Spanish newspaper AS, he would offer the blaugrana players the likes of Walter Samuel, Jonathan Woodgate, and Michael Owen.. The last two are players that have been rarely used after their move from the Premier League during the summer Samuel, who made the switch from AS Roma during the summer, has fallen out of favor with the Madrid staff and, even worse, the fans.
Sacchi would do whatever it would take in order to obtain Eto’o once again. So much so, that he is willing to pay the cancellation clause of €150 million. A steep price even for a team like Real Madrid.
Madrid were part owners, along with Mallorca, of the reigning African Player of the Year’s registration until they sold him to Barcelona. That move has borne fruit for the Merengues’ bitter rivals. Eto’o is the league’s leading scorer and Barca have run away with the mythical winter title.
The Italian also mentioned the fact that there is a need for a makeover on this team. He plans to obtain players the likes of Adriano, Steven Gerrard, and Robinho.
